  1. This is a fascinating thread though much of this is beyond my knowledge. I always interested in mo powa!
  2. On the upside the exhaust bolts and studs should be easier this time after having all that done.
  3. http://www.amazon.com/P185-80R13-Maxxis-MA-1-White/dp/B00CJG0JAY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1414345164&sr=8-2&keywords=185%2F80+13
  4. Now that you got that sorted take plenty of before, during and after pics.
  5. Pardon my ignorance but I was under the impression using gen 3 flywheel and clutch on a gen2 caused engagement issues.. not having enough pedal throw to fully engage?
  6. the connector for reverse lights may be different is the only thing I can think of.. Higher clamping clutch is cool but unless you hodrod or offroad your car I don't see a need to go that far. Have the flywheel turned put a new clutch and t/o bearing in. and go.. The installation should be plug and play no other mods necessary so long as you are in a gen3. I am assuming that you are.
  7. My favorite non v8 gm motors. I wanted to put one in my datsun pickup back in the day.
  8. you will need the ecu and harness for the conversion.. Or find a piggy back/stand alone. The map for your car will adequately fuel the bigger engine.
  9. pick n pull or what ever you pull it yard you can find,, Bring someone with you to help slide the engine forward and grab them off any of the 80s gl,dl cars. With a friend or at least some help you should be able to get at them in 20 minutes or so depending on your skill level.
  10. Yes.. It will drop right in no problem. Engine management will be a problem though.
  11. I can dig it! I hope you have some serious fabbing skill though. Subscribed.
  12. The easiest lug swap is in the products for you subaru section.. Mattsgl I think is the name. It is really simple and the price is fair. Otherwise you will need to hunting down rare parts that are crazy expensive or impossible to find. Something more involved would be to use Scottinbellinghams service and have your hubs redrilled for a 6 lugs. That is it unless you know of a machine shop that can reproduce or create something else.
  13. They are geared better. More like every other manual on the road. In the Gen 2 cars (not all but most) the first three gears are very long and 4th is just barely overdrive according to General Disorders write up. I have never had a 5spd dual range but from the way my friends drive it is geared just like my sedan which is a 2wd . I can hit 60 in third gear. Granted I do not have all the weight of a 4wd car so that may have something to do with it. I cruise at 2800rpms in 5th doing 65-70.
  14. No he is just being cautious. Anderson design is the new kid on the block. Some pics on the board would help a lot for people wanting a lift.
  15. Watch the for sale section often.. A good used wouldn't be a bad way to go either. plus they tend to come with things like a spare distributor and such.. If that doesnt pan out you are only into it $150 and spare parts when you go for a rebuilt. Thats how I would do it.. There are many places and people that are local to help you out if/when you get stuck.
  16. I have to figure out what is missing or where the relay is on mine.. It currently has power all the time which works but it isn't right.. Now that I am posting again. Put my Rad back into the 86 hatchy. Reconnected my heater core hoses since they are not the leaky culprits. ( bad windshield molding.. Silicone to the rescue!).. Off to the parts store for new rad cap oil filter and silicone and some other un-subaru related items.
  17. Never mind the nose in the air look.. I put 4wd springs on it and love the ride I just haven't got around to cutting them down to size yet.
  18. 185/70-13 http://simpletire.com/prometer-p185-70r13-050p-tires I have the 205/60 13s and like them a lot but mine aren't really all seasons so work ok but not so great in snow and ice. I did a simple search for them though I sourced mine locally.
  19. If I can get my car back together and heater working I haven't been to one in several years.. Aside from WCSS its about the only other time I have to visit with old friends.
  20. It is not what I have to my subie yesterday but for my subie.. Left @ 5:45 from home to Florence Mt. for a tranny. Met Dan who happens to a very cool easygoing guy. And back in about 18.5 hours. I would make the trip again but I feel that I must make a weekend out of it next time. So back on topic. I picked up a full time 4wd transmission with diff lock for my baby. Not a dual range, if you know me then you know why the rest of you will have to wait. Mike
  21. Weber has a anti-dieseling solenoid available. I will be rollin through cda late morning so I will watch for you as well as Idasho. I will be the lunatic in a charcoal Neon making for Montana.
  22. I second checking for power at the plug. I had the same problem. It didn't stop there for me it would idle really high until someone pointed that out to me.
  23. Check your owners manual I am willing to bet that is not the correct oil weight for your car.. It doesn't have to synthetic just a good oil. I am gonna guess @ 10-30. I would be surprised if the tapping doesn't subside. And Welcome tp the USMB family. Mike
