  1. I bought a new oil pump a few years ago and decided to use it to eliminate or find a problem I am having. So I get it out of the box of new stuff and find that it has no seals/ o-rings on the outside. I figured if it was new it should have come with new seals what gives? Mike
  2. I simply ran my own constant wire to the battery and fused it. It is the wire your radio actually gets its power from anyway and If you compare the size of the factory wires to the one on your deck and add in the wiring from your car is very old to me it was a no brainer. BTW it is also a good idea to run your own ground. The ground should be equivelant (sp?) to the sum of your power or source wires for several reasons. Mike
  3. All 2.5s will work though the phase two yields better compression ratio and less likely for piston slap.
  4. Here is a ton of info leading up to what you want there are a few more threads about it and one of them has an exact part number specifically for the frankenstein motor ( hybrid) you do not use EJ25 or EJ22 gaskets. I think Cometic makes them but I ain't sure.. The few threads that I read fastinated me but that kind of project would be getting in way over my head... BTW the Dual port EJ22 heads work better. Dont P and P just throw some cams in there and go like he Double hockey sticks. Mike
  5. There is a lot more info on NASIOC for this and some that are still running the hybrid frankenmotor. I found plenty of info on it in about an hour but that was weeks ago. Mike
  6. Some of the earlier cars came with a basic ECM. I do know that it has more to do with emissions than anything else and can be removed and still pass emissions just not in California or any other place where the emissions control is highly regulated.
  7. It is too nice to sell. you are not allowed and will be blacklisted
  8. Here is a quick DIY http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?TID=75833&get=last and here is a cheap lazy way http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882586155&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Car+Speakers-_-Scosche-_-82586155 If you know anyone with a router a circle jig is pretty easy to build takes like 5 minutes with a few houshold items. I would recommend that one it allows you to stack up as many rings as you need to get the exact depth you want. Mike
  9. I thought all the gen 2 FWDs were 5 speeds.
  10. Welcome to the Great Northwest.. There are a lot of people up here that share your interests and many are or were board members. I sure you will find something that suits you. Mike
  11. I must say that is a pretty cool bug. I enjoyed watching the videos nothing like a burn out to start my morning.
  12. Bookmarked.. and thank you. Turbone has a few fsm in his office but I think a digital copy may come in handy.
  13. I need to reseal a carb and replace the accelerator pump and am kinda sketchy about doing so with out some kind of reference. So does anyone have a diagram or blown up expanded view of a stock hitachi for a 83 brat? Mike
  14. Just wanted to know why the bass cube specifically? It is just a bass restoration devise. There are plenty out there currently. In all honesty if you are lacking bass it is usually one of a few things. Improper box IE size, ported when it should be sealed or vice versa.... not enough power ( I do believe that is not your problem ) or a poor choice for a sub since there are several types SQ SPL and SQL. Bass restoration whith most of the things listed could invariably affect the longevity of your subwoofer. Just a final thought the more electronics you put between your source and the driver the more noise and distortion played by the driver. I am not trying to bash you by any means and I do hope it turns out as you plan. Mike
  15. I dont know about hatch seat fitting a wagon but I do know that a wagon seat will not fit a hatch without moding the seat. It is shaped differently and too wide.
  16. I am lovin it! I like a lot of the first gen cars but no inclination to put as much work into them as most need. I struggle with the gen 2s. Mike
  17. There is another way somewhere on youtube though I haven't tied it and I didn't think to bookmark the link.. Before you carpet the box why not cut one more piece of MDF the size of your box and cut the woofer hole smaller (I would enlarge the too big cut out first so that you don't need to get longer bolts for your T-nuts). Like a plate except that you still need to glue and screw it together.. I have fixed a few oopsies that way so that I didn't have to start from scratch. It will make minimal difference in the sound of your sub and a little bit of polyfil will fix the rest as well as help subdue standing waves. Mike
  18. something like this http://www.woofersetc.com/p6683/SPT5108--Stinger-Pro-ShocKrome-8-Gauge-Crimp-Style-Ring-Terminals.htm would have made your jub easier.. You can get the ring portion in several sizes but I would wager that this would slip right onto your binding posts. Mike
  19. If you check out the site a little more there are other variants of the same thing and in smaller pieces which might be a little easier on the wallet.. I have been a long time shopper of PE and have great success with several projects since I am a stereo junkie. I am by no means an expert but I am pretty good .. You seem to have a talent for making it look very clean which is my weakest point aside from troubleshooting. Keep up the good work and pics. Mike
  20. Something like this -> http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=262-884 Mike
  21. For all intents and purposes your brat is a Gen 1. The older gen forum is most specifically for Gen 2 and Gen 3 EA81, EA82 & ER27 cars. Don't worry it happens a lot when you aren't familiar with the board. If the Mods decide that this is the wrong forum they will tell you and move the thread. Mike
  22. There are a few people that have managed to adapt/mod their cars to have camber adjustments but theses old cars do not have a camber adjustment. They were never designed to be great handling cars just (all road) cars. Mike
  23. bumpers for my hatch. A full time 4wd tranny doesnt matter if is single or dual range as long as its a 5 speed.. and a some other odds and ends that if I see them great if not no biggie. I figured since I am on vacation and all I might just be able to finish a project or two. Mike
  24. I have a few things on my shopping list but I dont have time to hit all the PAPs in the area. Mike
