  1. I was helping the boy most of the weekend put his car together. We drop the tranny into its new home and he has lost the bracket for the mount ( the part that actually bolts to the tranny). I grab the ones off the 5 speed to see if they will work.. nope. makes the whole tranny sit tilted to the right. I ended up going to PAP and got some off a DL hoping that it will work.. Nope. It is really wierd the bolt spacing on the left side of the tranny is smaller that the brackets from the 5 speed or the DL is there supposed to be a difference or did I wind up with a freak of nature and subaru? Mike
  2. For the stock stereo by all means just use the existing stereo wires. If you ever update/upgrade find a new place to ground the stereo. Your ground should be equivelant to all power sources. As for the block I dont know what size wire you used to go to the battery but the same rule applies. I personally upgraded to 4 AWG and get zero noise but Also have not done this swap. It is never a bad thing to go overkill on your grounds, especially when it comes to stereo goodies which is eventually the focus on all my vehicles.. I am obsessed I cat seem to stop myself. It is safer and much less chance to introduce ground loop or interference noise. Just my .02 Mike
  3. Sorry Brian, It's been a while. I am sure you will forgive me when I hand you a beer. Mike
  4. I dont know where its at. The only headlight conversion I have seen done I think was from baccaruda and converted to roundies on a gen 2. If you have all the parts a donor car to look at for referece would give you a big help. The wiring is the easy part though. Run new wire and use the existing wires as a trigger for the new lights.. Sorry if that sounds confusing but I can picture it in my head after doing a HL conversion on my pickup. for more info on wiring danielstern.com Mike
  5. OK so its not really my project or Soob it my boy's project. How to turn two cars into one good one. Mike
  6. bookmarked.. I may need to attempt this. Reason 1 Hard start. 2 dieseling especially after having been driven long distances or just flat out driven hard. Mike
  7. Thats a possibility, but the switch that was in there worked until I put the engine back in. I did make sure that when I ordered it that it was for a guage not the light but that doesn't mean I didnt get the wrong part anyway.
  8. OK so the wire in my hand is yellow even though it doesnt look like it. I obviously screwed it up so where does it go?.. OPS is plugged in and no worky. BTW this is from an 86 hatch. The following pics are of more wires in general viscinity and thought maybe one of them may belong to my problem. Mike
  9. That pretty much sums it up. The gauge works check by grounding it went to the top. The switch that was in there worked before pulling the motor for headgaskets and no worky after.. I bought a new one thinking I probably bounced it against something to kill it but I have nothing reading on the new one either. And before anyone asks yes it is for a gauge not an idiot light. Mike
  10. Rob its not really a race.. The clock starts when you start the project. Russ is dreaming big I will give him that, but just doing a little at a time instead of all at once he would have been driving this car a few years ago. Then it would have beena series of small projects and not ginormous one. Hurry up Russ! Mykey
  11. I dont have a build date but, My 83 Brat has vented.. I ordered new rotors once and got non vented and the brakes didn't work right.. It took me over a month to figure it out, and it was my daily driver. Mike
  12. Check the battery, body and engine grounds make sure they are good as well as tight. Are you running the batteries in parallel or did you use a isolator? I think for radio feedback with an isolator you should run another body ground.. I am just taking a stab at this since I never had feedback unless I ran power wire too close to speaker wires and patch cables. Mike
  13. Does anyone know the part number# 86 EA81 hatch Thanks Mike
  14. Oh no it aint your turn yet there will be 3 more people that need help and you will be all over it!. And you will do it just so you dont have to get back to the RX. BTW I still laugh when I think about this comment "Boosted Squirrels:D" --->Turbone
  15. It isnt quite the same thing but since you made it work... very cool. My headlights aren't any brighter at idle and I found that I should turn the stereo down as well or would drop below 12V. Now anything over 1200 RPM and OH Yeah ! lights are bright and the stereo is turned back up. And for the update since I sinstalled my Alt 5-6 years ago. No problems! It is very big and I think my pulley is off by just a little. My belt now needs to replaced.. Though the car has sat for a bit over a year waiting for my lazy arse to replace a headgasket. (Finally running!) Mike
  16. We won't as long as you get lots of pics and post some up we like our pics, b4... in progress ...and after shots would help. Good luck Mike
  17. How much are these gonna drop the hatch when fully extended and how low can you go?
  18. one way or another it will run but with which powerplant?
