  1. Tapping for power is ok. The Factory ground I do not trust with newer more powerful radios. I grounded mine to the metal bracket that the lower dash console is secured to.. I also ran a fused 14 AWG primary wire from the battery to make sure I wasn't going to cook anything.. That is the wire that powers your deck, the accessory wire is just a signal that tells the radio to turn on and doesn't draw much power. Mike
  2. I would start with that axle.. and get a new roll pin. Other possible causes something isn't tight check everything. Bad Ball joint , bearings going out ( they usually grind not clunk). Mike
  3. Not especially. They still have their quirks though not as problematic.. I can't say I will never own a turbo car but it is highly unlikely. With my mechanical skills ( HA!) it would spend more time @ Qman's or Turbone's house getting fixed.. I don't have the money to reimburse them for their time.. God know's I have done that all too often. Mike
  4. EA81 types from other OHV heads. I have a two heads hanging out in the back of a fixer beast and thought I may be able to put them to use if I knew what they belonged to.. big thing I think would be solid or hyd lifters? Mike
  5. A co-worker saw that and told me about it and didn't call me GGRRR!
  6. That is sweet! I have thought it would be cool but I am not a fabricator.. So I am content to daydream and drool about yours. Mike
  7. Phiz It should be pretty easy to car stereo shops or go online to find 12 volt circuit breakers, Maxi fuse, Agu fuse, or ANL which has the largest selection of fuses.. Maybe it is just caraudio thing but we dont EVER use the breakers without a fuse anyway.. I have seen pics of breakers not working properly and smoked half a car.. I am sure half the those are from new Bs though. http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=FH-44 Mike
  8. Smelly, One of the best investments I have made was to meet a few of the local suby freaks. several of which I would call friends. and many others I just haven't had the time to get to know.. When I have a serious problem that just plain has me dazed and confused I can make a few phone calls which either gets things figured out or fixed whithin a day and maybe a oddball part to go with it. then I have time to either give them a hand with whatever they are doing and learn a few more things while I am at it of hang out and b.s. for a while which I really don't do often enough. ( sorry Ken ) Mike
  9. Sounds like a bit of fun. Though I will have to dream up a parts list.
  10. I have used exedy and it is funtional, but no more than that.. Chef Tim was loving his Luk the last time he chimed in.. There is also Centerforce ( but she's a spendy little thang ) Mike
  11. Someone car to take a stab at fabricating the linkage assembly for a short shifter? I will admit I am no fabricator, I would have to pay to play. the cutting of the shift lever should be easy enough with a few basic tools and a welder in the family.
  12. Sounds like a weekend trip north for you my friend.. I would volunteer but my carb is not a 32/36..it came with the car. Mike
  13. I know it will pass emissions.. Mine does. I don't know about the cruise. There should be a write up in the USRM, and if not there a A lot of people that would give you a hand getting the plumbing done. Mike
  14. Ronnie and I had a blast. I think she is almost ready to drive something older than 2003 just for some wheel time.. ( I am hoping ) Jonathan was there overnight and still hasn't shut up yet.. Thanks Rob! As far as the show organization goes yes there are some little things that could make it better, but what they did do was very smooth. Sparkster Caboobaroo , Josh, and even Matt helped to make it a perfect weekend as well. I thoroghly enjoyed staying far later than is normal for me to B.S. around the fire and cook steaks in the dark. Mike
  15. And why I have never left.. only faded out for a while.
  16. That will actually be cool on your H/B. I look forward to seeing that set up and running.. Mike
  17. Jonathan It is past your bedtime brat!! email me or talk to me when you are home so I can show what to do and not do here .. It will soooo much easier than using up a useless thread. Its not like you won't be home in a few days. Me
  18. I was hoping it would be that simple.. now I guess I must quit beating around a bush and finish my brat so I can fix ( or attempt to fix ) the several annoying but necessary issues on the hatch. Thanks Mike
  19. This board is clean because the Admin and mods make sure it stays that way. We actually have quite a few ex-board members because they would not or could not refrain.
  20. When do we get the night pics? I wanna see the improvement. BTW very nice. Mike
  21. You mean that Ken's face isn't immediately recognizable accross the nation? Thats him between the engine comp and the hood.
  22. Another for the Spectrums. Had em on my hatch and wife loved hers.. They are good all year round.. Even bald ( my hatch eats tires) they do pretty well.
