  1. Thank You, Ouch! That is about $700-$900 labor alone here in the Northeast... Maybe time to learn to rebuild Subaru gear boxes myself...
  2. With 89oct I have been averaging 28.4 mpg with my 163k miles OBS. I dont know how this tank will turn out ,seems less .I filled up with 87oct maybe winter blend??? Time will tell as I am only a quarter threw the tank.
  3. Junk yard parts are junk yard parts might just be buying another problem....Might get a good one also???Luck of the draw. I had a good friend who owned a shop and it was about 50/50 on customer supplied used parts.Nothing like paying twice(Labor) for the savings of a used part.
  4. 98 Outback Sport 163,000 and running strong....Knock on wood... I'll have to pull the Trans this spring as it seems the syncro's are going or gone in fourth...
  5. That would be great,I would most likely pull and install the trans myself , that would save a few hours anyways... I dont know if it is a four hour job or an eight +++ hour job not having pulled one apart before...
  6. Hello, I have a 98 Outback Sport that is jumping out of fourth gear...Anyone know what the bench time is on replacing the syncro's??? I am thinking that I would rather repair mine versus buying a used problem child to swap out...Seems like this is a common issue with these.
  7. Ok I'll add to this one. My 98 Outback Sport is jumping out of fourth also.....Doesnt grind or anything just jumps out....No strange noises ........ Any idea on bench time to replace syncro's?????Anyone? I'd rather repair what I have then pick up another problem child....Seems to be many out there....
