subarus are very easy to work on, any qualified mechanic could adapt to a subaru ,its basic mechanical knowledge and a good repair manual. however some repair shops that i know here in Michigan don't care about anything except billing you hours, its very hard to find a good mechanic, you could ask if any Bord members know of a good repair shop in your area.

if i removed the compressor personally , and it was still under pressure, I would trust it. -
Where to buy: PCS & Blower Resistor

I use a mixture of coloidial silica and fine alumimana powder , I work maintainence in a ceramic factory, im not sure where you can buy the materials, but you may be able to get the manufacturers to send you a free sample , if you make up a company name, the small samples are more than enough to do a thousand resistor blocks, the coloidal silica is manfufactured by "remet corporation" and the alumina powder is called "a152 sg" the "coloidal silica" is a liquid binder .the alumina powder is the body , i mix the two in equal parts , you can use a little paint brush to apply it ,and it air drys . I was able to just use 220 grit emory paper to sand the wire and regular flux core solder, i did apply a little paste flux as well ill pm you some pics when i get home , i have one fixed and ready to install in my shop -
the blocks dont look right, they appear to be angled towards the rear of the car and not towards the engine if you look straight down on the strut is shouldnt be centered in the tower hole, it should be noticably offset to the center of the vehicle
-
i found that it easier to lift the body 1.5 inches less than the suspention on the front. ie 4 inch strut tower lift with a 2.5 inch cross member lift, the rear would be , 4 inch shock bracket and a 2 inch body lift . you can over flex the front by 1.5 inches and the rear bu 2 to 3 1/2 inches I would not want to lower the engine any more than nessasary or the rear diff any more than nessasary

If you can solder ,you can make coils yourself. take a pencil and wind nichrome wire 9 times around , you can get wire at ace hardware , then solder it in place. i use to rebuild them but now im working 60 hours a week, if you can solder i can get pics of how to do it , and a material list let me know -
exhaust manifold bolt thread size?
ivantruckman replied to gpb9900's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if all else fails, there are two extra holes in the cylinder head at 90 degrees from the older ones , if you have the resources to cut your flanges and rotate them 90 degrees, annd reweld them. the dang 12mmx125 helicoil kits are around 50 bucks , much cheaper to rotate the flange than buy a kit. unless you have to pay an exhaust shop to do it -

ivantruckman replied to pwjm's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you could build 1 inch offset blocks, or try to crank down the strut ajustment, -
agreed.. it takes more force to roll up a window, you could look for a used motor ??? .

I think there are better platforms than a subaru for a monster lift, if your going to do somthing like that you may as well stick it on a jeep frame, or a truck frame, even with an ej engine your not gonna be throwing 50 foot roosters at the mud pit, although im a "purest" I like my lil ea82 , I still think it would be awsome to re engineere a subaru like that... but with a 4 inch lift, and off road tires the subaru is cheap ,durable as hell and unique, I just cant see doing that much modding, than it ceases to be a subaru

Usally the cam seals leak as well, just over the exhaust, and crank seal, look for oil coming out of the plastic timing belt covers -
