  1. has any one had expirence with running 31x10.5, im running 205 65 15 now with no lift kit, ive done extensive fender trimming, i can bottom out the suspention with no tire rubbing, i plan on installing a 4 inch lift kit, my question is .. is 4 inches enough (thats what she said) to run 31 s . i like the variety of tred patterns for this size tire. i dont want to find out the hard way that the tires will rub , im a little worried about the extra width ie 10.5, ..oh and im using pugs in front and chevy redrills in the rear..
  2. Bucky 92 is Hot... a chick that can weld, thats what im talking about
  3. the only other problem is that aftermarket radios are too mlong to fit the dash, they sell adapter kits that extend the opening about 2 1/2 inches. if your shifter is sloppy it may hit the volume button.. i got all my adapters at best buy. but they have to have a mobile eletronics department at the store
  4. you know scott from bellingham has posted specs for his lift kit. out of the goodness of his heart, should be easy to find in the off road forum, scott rocks
  5. ufortunatly it a rebuilt starter, looks to be just installed. no history on it. every thing else is fine , new interstate 750 cca battery, all conections are perfectly clean. i may just go find a junkyard oem starter. maby the rebuilder rewound it wrong, who knows. another mystery
  6. i would definitly check the ground on the coil mount, like heartless said a few threads up .and all other grounds. intermittent problems as you describe when it actually failed wile driving. are usally a ground problem, if it were a t belt or other mec. failure it would have just died instantainuosly
  7. i thaught i read somware that subaru had 2 different rpm starter motors, and that an automatic was different from a manual , my automatic trans 4x4 gl seems to crank over slowly, everything is is good working order, amp draw is normal, it cranks the same in 10 degree weather as it does in 40 degree weather, it just seems slower than normal ? could the previous owner hav replaced it with the wrong one ?
  8. [Q Me with a broken finger, having welded for an hour. I'm trying to flip off those of you that think welding (or owning a welder) is out of your realm. wow you look like mikey from american chopper
  9. oh i forgot if its a auto 4x4 try to go on a dirt road. wile driving straight tru accelerating in 4 wheel drive from a start, than shift back into 2 wheel drive, you should notice a difference, this is to make sure it shifts in and out of 4 wheel drive, also make sure that it has all the same size tires on it. different size tires are hard on the rear clutch pack of the transmission.. i know im rambling... good luck
  10. An automatic transmission subaru runs at a higher rpm, at 55 mph. (my auto subie runs at 4000 rpm at 55mph) its quite noisy and you can feel more vibration. i also had a catotrosphic transmission falure at just 150,000 miles, I kind of like it for around town use, but its a little uncomfortable for hiway use, i feel as if im pushing it too hard. it is a little slower on excelleration too. i find it to be an excellent city /commuter car, great for traffic james. less work bending the ole knee. i guess it all depends on the price and what you plan on doing with it. even an automatic trans subie is better than no subie
  11. my set of 175 -70- 13 mastercraft glaciargrip cost me 47 each. they are pricy. if im ever in the norwest, ill have to rent a uhaul just to get all the parts and tires home..lol
  12. Rock on Hilsdale, ill pm ya when im in the detroit area, well hook up get a beer. (after driving of corse). rock on
  13. Oh crap its almost impossiable to find an 80 series tire with any kind of tread, arrrgggg hopless
  14. has anyone ever tryed to use the temp spare 15x5 inch rims to mount some narrow 15 inch tires, i think im crazy for the sugestion. im looking for some tires to fit. out in michigan i use the narrow ist tires for my snow plow truck. they seem to bite down to the road instead of float on top of the snow. hmmmmm
  15. i live on 40 acres ,and live next to 5000 acres of state land . lots of trails, goodd mudd , but no moutains...
  16. dosnt subaru have an extra set of holes in the cyl head . i just cut the flange and rotated it 90 degrees and used the other two holes. unless is been done already. dude hilsdale is just down the street.

  18. how hard is it to make a 91 loyale 2wd auto into a dr 4x4, i have a 85 with a rusty body, but a good dr and driveline, id like to keep the engine a spfi, can i use the same ecu ? or does it tie into the auto trans .
  19. to make a removal tool, i took a flat head screwdriver and heated it with a tourch and put it on the edge of an anvil , " 90% edge", and bent the tip at a right angle. it works good
  20. sweet, i just got a set of "mastercraft" "Glacier Grip 2" for my stock loyale. im impressed with the performance in the dirt, it hasnt snowed yet :-\ . i got them from my local independent tire dealer, in 175 70 13. they were only $46 each, with tax just over $200 mounted balanced , has anyone had them in snow yet. they sure look gnarley. i think the tire rack has them too.
  21. i put a 70 amp gm alt on my gl. i can buy a compleat rebuind kit including a stator winding , all bearings reg, diode trio, etc for 25 bucks on ebay, the hatachi diode asy. cost me 30 bucks, plus the gm alt is good for 70 amps, you can buy a kit to convert it to 90 amps. it was a very easy conversion
  22. anyone have a cheaper source for the rectifier
