  1. you take off the rear door skin , and the lock is right there , real easy to change out locks
  2. you can raise it easly with a lift block , im curious that your not sure if you want to lower it or raise it. or am i reading it wrong ??
  3. i have one here , i have never heard of a switch going bad
  4. yes i did this same thing to my 86 Gl wag two years ago , no problems
  5. Just did this yesterday , when its cold out they look for spots to get warm , it was only parked for 2 weeks. aarrggggg
  6. yes we have had allot of moisture here in the east , hot and cold days back to back. a slightly warm engine gets a lot of condensate in it . check your PVC valves , unless you are driving short distances all the time moisture should vent out.
  7. I'm not sure propane will be hot enough , do you have a friend with an oxy acetylene torch ??
  8. wow i had a heck of a time getting this out , had to drill 2 of the three screws , soldered some new homade nichrome wire coils in and all set for another 216.000 miles
  9. 1986 gl 4wd wagon 199.087 1986 gl 4wd wagon 182.934 1991 loyale sedan 2wd 186.023 1991 loyale autowagon 182.000 1991 loyale autowag 4wd 195.000 1991 loyale autwag 4wd 199.768 1991 loyale 4wd wagon 216.282 Total combined miles 1,361.092 al cars are still running , although i havnt driven all the miles myself . only 3 are licenced for the road
  10. yes good advice , does your duct work change to vent during heavy acceleration
  11. http://www.leoneturbo.com/docs/EA81_SPI_guide.pdf this write up is awesome , has great pics although it is for converting an ea81 engine to spfi
  12. in my case I cleaned the idle air control valve ,( it had carbon buildup on it) and I had scale buildup on the coolant temp sensor , after doing this my idle was rock solid .
  13. on the cam towers use only oem Subaru o rings, you wont be sorry . they have a metal reinforced center. the repro orings leak in a few miles
  14. are you talking about the green ,black , blue ,white relays under the left side under the dash ? or the fusiable links under the hood ?
  15. Kyb shocks are awesome ,I i get them off ebay , or rock auto
  16. a lot of times the o ring on the injector hardens and causes fuel to leak around the injector , from my experience the worst enemy of the fuel injection system is water , and the worst thing for o rings is alcohol based fuel treatments , i think dri gas, followed with a treatment of sea foam is a good idea.
  17. I have rescued 2 loyales with the 3 speed auto , there good cars, and I routinely go 65 mph @ 4100 rpm , all day long , the one has 216k on the original engine and transmission.
  18. is it a carburetor or single point fuel injection ?? a lot of times in an spfi the o ring on the injector can leak , putting fuel into the manifold , also your coolant temp sensor could be bad . that would cause an idle issue , and lastly , most mechanics don't understand how to work on an ea82 engine , I wouldnt consider them the worsh ever made, my original engine has 316.000 miles on it , yes the leak, and eat timing belts often , and are underpowered , Its a love hate relationship. I dont want to anger the Justy lovers but that may be the worst car subaru ever made.
  19. I am ordering 4 sets of caps and rotors online ,Ok just so I have this correct before ordering hatachi has screws , and nippondenso has clips
  20. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=127177&highlight=shifter+bushing i think this is the thread tom was thinking of
  21. I was able to find some plastic bushings close to the same od as the shifter, I had to buy a metric drill bit to ream out the id just a little .. 1/2 inch od was very close , needed to sand it just a little and a 3/8 drill is is real close to the id . then I used a hacksaw to cut the bushing to 1 and 1/4 inch in length.
  22. I was able to clean the scale off of my sensor, in this case it made the car run and idle . if you have a volt ohm meter you can check the sensor, I used a pan of water on the stove , as it heated the resistance changed . not sure of the specs for the sensor .
  23. wow I wouldn't tow that big of a trailer in the mountains .
