  1. you could have a shop or something weld a pipe onto your exhaust somewhere, with a couple of tac welds. it would work too.
  2. there is a cherry, tan ea81 wagon running around minneapolis. gl-10 badges, sun roof... makes me mad
  3. yah, its just a little 1.5 inch pipe coming off the top of the heat shield on the cat, on my carb wagon. whats with the gay guy dressed as spiderman?
  4. my brother has a rusty 300 wagon that the rear fenders used to flap in the wind, foam and duct tape and blammo! new subauru once again
  5. back pressure, and scavenging are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things.
  6. just get a stock replacement 200 dollar clutch kit. it will last just as long as the first one. there is no bigger clutch that will fit, you have the biggest one there is for the ea81. otherwise you gotta go 5speed to get the ea2 4wd, or xt6 flywheel/clutch.
  7. it would be slower than a bicycle and only rev to 2500 rpms. i think it would suck alot.
  8. wagon wheels realy make it look nice! are those toyo tires? are you going to put the hatch plates back on it and drive it around on the street?
  9. anybody else got anything? like one i can buy and plug in and supply a power and ground and go? i can always wish right?
  10. give what skip said a try and then go for the big buck turbo rebuild. every ihi i have seen that was toast, would fill the intake up with oil. when these turbos go bad its not just seals, its usually the shaft and the bearing that share a little wear each. you cant realy do it yourself and expect to have a reliable turbo. sounds like its time for an upgrade. oh... as far as i have seen, the coolant passages are cast iron, and they couldnt get oil in them, cuz its just a little galley through solid metal. the coolant has no contact with seals, just freez plugs.
  11. you have to bolt on the ea82 4x4 flywheel and clutch, everything else fits, except driveshaft. you have to use the 5speed shifters and linkages. i have heard about some tranny tunnels being pretty tight, but they fit. just start tearing at it. somebody yell at me if you have to change the starter too.
  12. i have a 79 panel truck with a heater core and blower motor in a cardboard box. just run heater lines into the back seat and fire it up! you can use a super big core and blower to heat up a little suby quick!
  13. i was screwing with mine today, and i checked my advance, and it will hold vaccum. and it is still hesitating horribly. it even backfires out the carb, with a fireball, when i pull the throttle wide open, and let off it. im gonna grab a lite and check that my timing is spot on.
  14. how much does he want:brow: i know of one person who did it to his ea81 that he put spfi on
  15. i found a diagram that helps alot... but only for the ej22 for vw vans and stuff.
  16. this one isnt a turbo, but i bet most of the wires are the same. i do plan on boosting it after it runs. i did get the computer, took a while to figure out the comp was in the trunk. send it on over, thanks
  17. i guess the t-bird turbo is the best option for a direct swap upgrade. but it has to be the biggest one that came on the t-bird, because there were two or three different ones. and i think just about any turbo other than the stock subaru one is an upgrade, because they were all made for dohc motors that were 2.0 or bigger. just dont take any of the wheels off of the center piece, and make sure the compressor doesnt hit the aluminum housing. fun stuff:burnout:
  18. i just pulled most of the wiring out of a 87 xt, with the flapper style maf. i am planning on sticking it into a carb car, and i was wondering where i might find some sort of diagram of just the wires i need to make the engine work. when i say most of the wiring, i mean i left the cab part there, but im thinking i might need the whole thing, even if i dont use all the cab controll stuff... anyone with experience, get me started?
  19. you would just be stuck with a gas guzzling pig without a turbo. you can get a turbo off any 80s car and switch the exhaust housing and compressor housing, and boom! turbo! any ihi will do as long as its not from a legacy, they are too big. ford probe, mazdas, ford tbirds, all kinds of turbos you can use! and the bigger one from a tbird is an upgrade
  20. who can take a pic of a ea71 in a gen 1, where the disty goes? if you can change valve covers with the engine in the car, you sould be able to fit a spfi block in there, right?
  21. damn those guys have bad stuff... and the rering kits are cheap. i agree 100 would be great. i was not aware of the 140hp engine! thats gotta be nice.
