my bolt holes for the adapter were too big, and not counter sunk... and the waterjacket that goes up into the stock carb, didnt get blocked like it sould by my adapter, so i had to use some sealant... not too troublesom though, for an adapter.

A new use for a roof rack
archemitis replied to soobme's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yah hood pins work great, as long as they are put back in... at least subarus let you see a little under the hood, when they fly up all the way. -
ea82 carb/manifold, on a ea81?
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i have only seen feedback carbs/with the o2 sensor, on ea81 cars... never on a ea82. i thought the ea82s only came with the 1 carb, and the ea81s had the options. im just looking for a quick hp boost, before i do a efi swap. -
im not saying you dont know what your talking about subarujunky... but even the airplane guys dont get 130 out of an ea81, and they have cams, intakes, exhaust, timing... all that stuff. 100 hp would be great in any brat... but not a racer.

HAHAHA you said race... and brat... and ea81 hahahaha

i have used a centerforce in my beefed up 4runner. one year i burnt 2 toyota factory clutches, and since i got the centerforce, it has never slipped in 30k miles. i got their top of the line one, with the weights on the spring. stock pedal feel and lots better holding power. but i want a 3puck for my street hatch

it shouldnt be that hard... cant you just knock off the ball joint with a pickel fork, move the spindlewith brakes and all out of the way and pull it off? the first time is always the hardest though...next time it'll be easier. i had a friend that was charged 800 dollars for a new axle and labor at a shop... so i bet it was worth it. they can always find a way to charge you way too much

spfi vs weber... off the line!
archemitis replied to Martin's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i would rather have spfi... no realy after having both i like the spfi better... i have never had my weber dialed in perfectly, but at WOT im not that impressed. i would rather take out my carb model, with the weber, and throw a spfi motor, with the fuel injection... maybe i just had an exceptionally well tuned spfi, but i just cant get my weber to run like my spfi did. and... wouldnt you have to rejet for altitude with a weber? i like fuel injection, even though i dont have a subaru with it anymore:-\ -
ok... so the manifold from an ea82 would be a performance upgrade for an ea81(because its got bigger ports... but would the carb be one too, were the carbs any bigger for the ea82s or were they just given slightly fatter jets?

dual range RX? arent they all AWD? with the center diff lock? what is it with people that think these old subarus are worth their wieght in gold?

which car should i take to oregon this x-mas
archemitis replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
make sure your timing belts have been changed at least 6 times, and take the subaru, if the sube breaks it'll most likely be cheaper to fix on the road than any honda/acura. as long as you dont crack a head, you'll be fine with the subie. how do you know the 288k is original? -

just buy a real one. any ea82 should fit. those split ones suck. -
i just cant help it. i was in a parkinglot today and a guy starts talking to me about my hatch... says how he has one with a blown head gasket. says its cherry. so i went to look at it... it is cherry, wagon wheels dual range 84 brown 4speed 4x4 hatch. in minnesota! no rust... i say how bout 300 bucks, since she doesnt run... he says well ok. i dont need another subaru, but hey, how can i pass it up?

that was what held the rear cv boot on the rear of the impulse, but fronts would be a little tougher

archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i dont think mine have the vents/vanes in the middle. they are just like a big thick motorcycle disc i suppose i could check the balance, oldschool style
