  1. for some reason my normal headlights dont work, but all 4 bulbs work in high beam. must be a seperate relay for high and low beam? any ideas on that one? also, this hatch has a switch with a headlight on it, looks like the one my old brat with the third eye had, is it a dead switch that they put in alot of them even though the 4 headlight cars never came with the third eye? or is it doing somehing i dont know about.
  2. so this chart crosses at 5252 just like it should... what happened to the 150 hp with no water to air intercooler?
  3. the problem with pullin stuff out with a subaru is the same problem they have hitting big rocks and hill. you cant pull them out, you gotta jerk! just like you cant crawl, you gotta floor it!
  4. washers are for suckers! 6 lug swap, run the wheels with the right backspacing. or even pugs. i didnt know you meant it hits up there. what about at the strut spring seats? its gotta be gouging there then too. i will love to see 235s fit on an ea81 with those same wheels, and an aa lift... it will never happen
  5. leave it, keep an eye on it. make sure its not wearing through the tire. morganms setup has been this way for years.
  6. um... this post is useless without time slips! am i right or am i right?
  7. ug, just take your fuel pump off under the tank and drain it.
  8. ok, was that english? or just crackhead internet talk?
  9. when the regulators die they ground the field. then the alternator charges at wide open throttle. what did the guys tell you that tested it? did they try to sell you a new one? replacing the regulator is a pain in the rump roast, id just swap it out for another junkyard alternator. didnt you notice your tach doin funny stuff? among other crazyness caused by 20 volts?
  10. note: you have to keep the same pressure plate with the same flywheel. you either have to use the ea82 flywheel, with ea82 pp, and ea81 friction disc. or my favorite, drill out the ea81 flywheel bolt holes either 1 or 2 mms i forget. then you use all the ea81 clutch, flywheel and pressure plate. if you do this, transfer timing marks. i think the ea81 flywheel weighs less now, this is all assuming your ea81 flywheel is an 8 7/8 inch. if its the small one, the ea81 flywheel wont work. you can use any ea82 distributor off of a carb model as well as the early mpfi disty.
  11. i guess they are a heated pressed fit, with green locktite. everything wears out over time... even subarus nice one mcbrat, i've never been able to blow up an na subaru.
  12. one starter bolt is a motor/tranny bolt. put a floor jack under the front of the transmission and elevate it about 5 inches. then the motor mounts wont hold it against the xmember
  13. is it a flapper maf or a hotwire? i have seen an 87 with a flapper, so if it is a flapper, there is a wire inside that will break, because of the mechanical advance. could be the disty.
  14. just remember, strong springs alone might let you rev higher, but you might not be guilding power up that high(especialy if you dont have a big boosted turbo). so unless you have a cam, dont get heavier springs.
  15. has anyone ever gotten anything on time, or at all, from that guy?

  17. with an aftermarket stereo couldnt you use the rca preouts on the rear of the stereo? also, if you have a tape player, couldnt you wire in the signal to the wires connecting the factory stereo, to the factory tape dec?
  18. i always assumed the flapper style efi system just made less power than the updated hotwire system.
  19. doh, closed on saturdays, wish harley was :-\ i'll have to call monday. by then, im sure somebody will post some scans of parts books, or something
  20. the only thing i can think about that is... the xt is the best car to look for na mpfi. its pretty rare to find na mpfi in a wagon or sedan or anything else, so maybe the na mpfi motor had a different cam? it does seem wierd that the 9.5:1 na motor came with the same cam as a 7.7:1 turbo motor... thats it, im callin my buddy at subaru
  21. everything i have ever read, or seen says the cams are the same for all ea82s. im sure i could call my dealership and bug them with the question, but never have.
  22. unless its like mine. chunks of red iron filled mud cloging up the pressure plate spring fingers. i cant find gears unless im movin. or a badly worped friction plate could do it too.
  23. id shim them, theres no way your gettin close to coil bind. im guessing the springs out of the er27 are the same as the ea82s, and those dont float up to 7grand. whats that cam supposed to pull to?
  24. ya, that and the fact that they are as fast or faster (on paper) than a stock rx
