  1. i discussed this in length on a road trip from texas to minnesota with my equaly creative cousin. a cam regrind costs 150 bucks right?...well, it would require a completely different cam, and your exhaust valves would be bigger than your intake valves... but how hard would it realy be to make an ea81 run backwards? dual carbs, exhaust stickin straight up. you can always put in new valve seats so the valves are exqual size... good for low end torque i hear. i always imagined the front wheels being the furthest forward part, so you could drive up to a brick wall, and push untill the car was almost vertical.
  2. yup, i dont run one either. im not always into bost, but it ignores it at full throttle too, so i have no need for one
  3. check your dealer... no seriously. i just bought the last two lighted led keys that they had in stock. the lights work, and they were new in the package. blanks. if your locks are in good shape, and all you realy want is a matching set, you can have a locksmith rekey the one oddball for a reasonable price(usualy) then have him cut you a key to match while your at it.
  4. theres at least 30 ea81 cars runin around with ea82s in them. i have done three myself. if i count the er27 as an ea82. its as easy as lengthening four wires, and moving your hill holder, or eleminating it(if you stick with carb) spfi would not be my first choice. its harder to wire in. you could find mpfi with 90 or so hp. thats the good one, its turbo ready too
  5. i love lightin up the 28s on the street, thats why. i drive to the offroad spot in rwd. stick in my front axle then go wheelin. rwd is the coolest for the street. to full throttle mine in fwd is pretty stupid. it gets to hoppin and jumpin, and i dont go anywhere. rwd it just takes off, or spins one, but its thoroughly entertaining.
  6. i run my hatch, with a 6 cylinder in rwd. i have done a 4 circle burnout on dry pavement, and havent broken anything yet... and i got at least 50 more hp than you =p it loves gettin sideways.
  7. i like heating up the aluminum in on the head with a propane torch... the idea is to heat up the head so the hole expands, while keeping the bolt relatively colder... if that doesnt work. you can heat up the bolt, let it expand, let it cool down a bit, then try and twist it out. dont break it off, not fun to drill that thing out, and retap it.
  8. i do all my high speed testing on at the salt flats. Minnesota highways, lol!
  9. my geolandars have seen some nasty curb action, on the street, and big rocky stuff offroad. and good on road too. get some of those. then your car will bounce off that stuff.
  10. mines super pimped out. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28774&highlight=bling+stereo+ea81
  11. id like to see how any of these lifts you keep tryin to pedal acutaly hold up. suspension lifts are out of the question for subarus. the axles need to be at STOCK angles. down travel is inportant too. hope you never run into any law suits cuz of quick, not thought out designs.... quit tryin to sell something in every thread you answer...
  12. you found a weber adapter for a subaru, and a rebuild kit, instock?!_! thats sounds too crazy to be true.
  13. ya, i can assure you subaru, and your insurance company would not like to hear about any offroading done in an impreza =]
  14. no your not getting it. the turbo will spin at idle. but its not making boost. i have pushed a turbo with a compressor. sounds real cool. but its still not spining fast enough to make boost. boost and moving air are different by the time it get that far back its outta heat and velocity. this is assanine. ever see mitsubishi, or toyota, or subaru try this? cuz if it was cheap, and worked well, they would use it. if your worried about having to pull a motor for a turbo install... you might be a little too timid to try turboing a na motor. im done! the only wat to prove me wrong is to show me. and that aint happenin.
  15. you noobs. you forget. i have done something just like this. keyboards rool! they make it esier to build cars... in your head. i knew a guy who knew a guy who killed this guy with his turbo camaro with the engine in the back. and it was a 4 cylinder. with a turbo up front.... turbos work off heat. anyone will sell anything. theres a sucker born every minute. and when your young your an even bigger sucker. i want to see a twin turbo xt6. but i never will =/
  16. you cant feel a power increase from this. its just practical, not performance. keeps your intake cleaner, no hp gains.
  17. the only differenent clutch disc for the big ea82 disc is the xt6. it fits the same but it has two extra springs, and they are beefier than the 4 cylinder discs. i think the pressure plate is what gives the xt6 clutch the real holding power. the extra springs on the disc, just soak up more of the big motors inertia when letting the pedal out.
  18. whats the bump for? its in your hands now, swap maf, see what happens. run some seafoam in the gas and engine, see what happens. swap water temp sensor... rage it!
  19. turbos work off of heat. not nessecarily exhaust velocity. they have to be close to the head, for the heat to make them turn. stickin them underneath would cool them down, and only increase boost lag, and hurt overall turbo performance. and... its bad enough hitting a tail pipe on a pothole, or curb. just think your preciuos turbo sittin there waitin to get ripped off... screw that. i still say theres no room for turbos. unless you had a full 6 inch lift, or suck them out of the hood. and the radiator... and the intercooler... wrx motor would be cheaper.... i could go on and on... like i said "what if"
  20. DL doesnt mean much except dual headlights to me... what year is it? either way, you dont have a 1.8mpfi motor. and thats the motor to get =]. efi. multi port heads, opposed to two cylinders sharing one port, like what you have now.its turbo ready ,more hp.. thats about it untill decide to swap trannies too. but look on the block, ea81, or ea82?
  21. that shiney stuff is aluminum. not the best for skid plates...
  22. you like drag racin that motorcycle? if so, you could be pretty entertained around here, even though the offroad is lacking. what kind of work are you looking for? the hospitals are great places to work while in school. part time gets you medical benefits.
  23. er27 in ea81 hatch. 21 inches from bell housing, to front crank pulley. 30 inches wide at the middle of the engine 32-33 inches wide at timing belt covers. my timing belt covers sit on my front frame rails, they just touch on both sides. the 3.3 looks like it would fit... but, you wont have enough room to put a radiator big enough to cool it, up front. shes real tight.... most people who have seen mine, say too tight.
