ok, EFI's are NOT good in water. seized motor
archemitis replied to gunslinger's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
your kindof a cocky little bastard arent you? why did you drive across deep water with your stock air intake hooked up? i've never done an efi system with the stock air box. seems kinda backwards, for a performance upgrade/build. im sure it was you, not the efi -
Deadbolt Enterprises Port/Polish Turbo inside
archemitis replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
thats what i was thinkin. its cast iron, so not as easy as aluminum. but i could never pay for someone to remove a little metal. -
i have a superduper, machined center punch, and a jig for those wheels, made just for that tcat. my shop is way down in inver grove heights, maybe we should get a meet going for this coming weekend... its supposed to be sunny =] and there is an offroad test spot down the road.
-
also, keep in mind, morganm has no speedo. and the tother nite on the way to university, he was speeding alot... yes alot. morganms lifted 4x takes off almost just as fast as my 2x hatch with stock engine, and tires. 27 should be cool tho, just dont do anything crazy... like going smaller than 27s.

the best is when you walk up to an ea82, and its got a broken timing belt. or better yet. a stripped tensioner bolt! i love ghetto mechanics =]

lift/mods/tires for my Soob. I missed the FAQ. . .
archemitis replied to Tom63050's topic in Off Road
that faq sticky thread... its reely good *************** i like it alot. get ready for some serious feder driming and body bashing! -
finding them with a blown, or no engine, is my favorite!
-
assuming those wheels acutaly work on your car... 205 65 r15 fit well on my hatch, with no lift. i think i could have gone a bit wider and a bit taller if i wanted to. but even those tires, needed a bit of trimming on the front of the front fender. and i had to remove the front mud flaps.

picking up a '87 Brat Saturday..... pic added
archemitis replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
man, you find brats, like i find hatches. i had to start telling people "no" when they mention their "cheap old subaru". i have too many! you gonna lift that one too? or maybe go for a street mobile once =] -
N/A distributor on a turbo
archemitis replied to LPGsuperchargedBrumby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you can find 4wd, and 2wd distributors from na mpfi motors. they have the two vac hoses. or you can get a disty from a carb, with only the one vac line. more advance, when it sees no vacume, so that means when you hit boost, your at full advance. which is cool, if you have everything else tuned right =] -
just saw it in person. looks realy good. i bet people would buy that camo stuff. it looked very smooth, like it was painted on.
-
if your disty has a vac. line going to it, then my info is not correct. if its optical. it just plugs into that one plug, that goes back to the computer, and the coil.
-
strap will only support in one direction. use square or steel tubing. i cut out the top and bottom of my hatch to make room for the h6. just made a beefy bumper to stiffen it back up.
-
optical disty or standard. flapper or hotwire?
-
green and white are for the knock sensor. the red one goes to the plus side of the coil, and the black goes to the negative side of the coil.
-
ok... its a bolt on that goes along with the er27.
-
well, you finaly found something other than the wrx badges that will fit on the rx....
-
So i was looking-thinking again...
archemitis replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
get an er27. it dont do that. or cut it up and make it fit on your ea82.... fuel rails:clap: -
i decided on the same thing. two is alot of trouble, when you can get a 90 amp one to bolt on, from an xt6.
-
baseball bat works good, but... sometiems you need paint afterwards =] on a subaru fender, maybe the skinny end would be good.
-
they are supposed to be in yesterday. so today hopefully.... god thing i painted my rims black, or it would look like we got a deal on toyota aluminums =]

LSD oil additive in transaxle?
archemitis replied to 85Sub4WD's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
just buy the regular gear oil for the tranny. i might be exposing my ignorance, but my xt6 has no lsd in the tranny. my dual range has no lsd in the tranny. so which subarus have a lsd in the front? probably legacies. you only put the lsd addative to the rear lsd diffs afaik. -
i kinda like my 4 speed dual range. you can bolt an ea82 to it like it was done at the factory, with no problems at all. go for the brat, over the ea82 car anyday!
-
its not a tick of death, its a tick of life! your subaru will run for tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of miles like this. i have one thats done if for 25k miles, after all i tried, it wont go away, and im not takin the lifters out... lets give it a better name, that wont scare people when they read about it, because its not that big of a deal. most older subarus do it(sometimes very quietly), untill they warm up.
