that makes it the #3 lifted subaru in minnesota. second wagon, and i got the first hatch. not sure if the internet is a perfect way to tell what lifted subarus are around, but its all i got =]. i never even see eas around, let alone lifted ones. yay rust!

something tells me my hatch would fly up that hill the hummer is on, with street tires.

Dedicated Turbo Exhaust?
archemitis replied to Phaedras's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
thats gotta be it, its cool as hell, as long as you have a boost controller. then it only gets loud when you hit full boost. without a boost controller, you start shooting very loud exhaust at about 2 lbs of boost pressure. unless you put a muffler on it, but whats the fun in that? =] -
ya, that big ole pan sticks out there quite a bit, along with the exhaust.

looks good, didnt take you long at all lifted and 6 lugged! threres a buncha offroad events this year in minnesota, and im afraid this might be the last real summer for offroading in minnesota. public land is being taken away from us since they are recatagorizing all of the ORV trails. either way, you gotta get it muddy, and possibly lost in the woods =]
-
best way to tell... sit in it. can you feel the Grand Luxury? if so, you got a GL. makes a huge difference =]
-
i ran it in rear wheel drive, and the motor still hops around quite a bit, with rubber mounts. tom, how you gonna run a top pitch stopper with an er27? the one on the tranny? of a 5 speed? but since i have switched to solid mounts, tranny and motor, ive ran it with no pitch adjuster... top or bottom. fwd and rwd. seems ok, not breaking the motor mounts yet =]

hehe, adiction is right. just 2 months ago i had a thread called something like "mostly finished hatch" i thought i was gonna stop at the efi/h6, but then i built a lift for it, and got new tires, and, and built another bumper, installed stereo, and several gauges, all kinds of other crap. i make a point to not put anything in my signatures, or avitars that i havent actualy installed on the car. i mean hell, i have two T3s sitting right next to me, but i dont call my er27 a twin turbo. never did understand that. i plan on having a lowered turboed ea81 mpfi, drifty hatch done by july. and i plan on beating the crap out of my offroad hatch this summer, after all of the hard work over the past few months. you guys can hold me to the drifty street hatch:brow:

and apparently another supplier wouldnt hurt anything, as long as the quality is good. theres still people with cash in hand with no lift kit. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32108

Advice on redoing wheels
archemitis replied to Phaedras's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sand, or bead blasting will leave them with a dull look, even if you clear coat them. youd have to get em blasted, then polish them by hand, starting with sand paper, then working down to less and less coarse abrasives, till you get to aluminum polish. then clear coat, or get them clear powdercoated,or anodized. or just have them powdercoated silver again. thats how my pugs are. i just painted my 4runner mags with black engine paint, then baked them, after bead blasting all of the clear coat off of them. they look nice, but will most likely scratch pretty easily(offroading). engine paint is tough, never tried wheel paint tho. -
i dont understand why they moved it. it needs to be here so we can talk about it. not all of us check the market place every day. guess you have to be a moderators friend to introduce anything new to the offroad subaru world. just check out this link, that zap let fly, in the offroad forum http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30202 its the same thing irishman tried to do. but since he dont hang out with zap. he got his moved to the marketplace. the pnw guys always try to soil the name of anyone new trying to supply the subaru world with much needed products! people have been lifting, and putting transfercases under everything from camaros, to vws, FOREVER! you never see pk, or mudrat goin off half cocked about this stuff, and they are the ones who acutaly build the stuff. its because they know competition is only a good thing, and nobodys gonna get rich off of subaru offroad crap for 80s disposable cars anyway, so i dont see what the big deal is.

i swear, every post you have is about wrx stuff fitting on an ea82.=] you want to run a ej tranny on your ea82? redrill, and it'll fit with an ej tranny. afaik

Does XT6 pressure plate have same bolt pattern?
archemitis replied to ballitch's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i have xt6 flywheel, and pp on my ea81,with an ea81 disc. with no machining. -
i wouldnt worry too much about ripping off someone elses lift. theres not much to them. the only thing thats even remotely specialized is the front strut extenstion. the rest is just blocks, and hardware. durability is the only thing id be concerned about... the aussie byb lifts use tubing cut to the right length, then big washers are welded on both sides. they used to weld the xmember spacer to the xmember! not huge things to put a patent on. unless you see a big triangle through his strut holes, id say its cool.

you usualy have to get a pitch stopper thingy lengthened.
-
sweet82, i dig the foot wide tires, but your rig doesnt weigh anything. morganm has no problems turning 29s with his stock spfi engine, in a heavy ea82 wagon. i bet you could run 31x10.5 s and still be faster than my 4 runner with the same tires. 2 sets would be nice, but if your gonna do that, go big! =]
-
theres only a few of you out there, with the er27 in ea81s. just wondering, did you bother with the front anti pitch rod, dogbone thingy?

pics of my mostly finished hatch
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
this is an old thread, the pics were of it almost completed. after the pics i build a skid plate that covered up the wiring harness. now it has yet another bumper in the works. its just a little dual range 4 speed. its holding the power nicely. -

heh, i've lifted it since then -
he wants to keep the gearing good afaik. somebody destroyed a 79 for that? no dual range, ea71? and the poor donor car! looks like it weighs more than the 79 did
-
cuz, theyre small, they wont hold a cars weight at highway speeds, arent street legal, look funny, all that. 6 lugs or pugs, is about the only (good)way.

6 lug wheels on your subaru(the easy way)
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
perfectly fine with me. i just see people on here all the time without the means to do what they want, and theres no aftermarket shop around, eager to build stuff for the 80s subarus. machine shops i have talked to laughed at me for asking this stuff 2 years ago. im glad to hear you've had better luck with the local guys in your area, than i have had with mine. if your at an offroad shop, or machine shop, dont say subaru, unless your ready to get made fun of =/ -
if you want, send me the heads, and i'll flow the crap out of them =] we wont tell the wife. hehehe
