im wondering if it matters which rocker i hook my throttle cable up to on an er27. one is for throttle, and one is for the damn cruise, which im not using. does it matter, is it the one closer to the driver side, or passenger side, that is the intended throttle?

something everyone seems to ignore. if you have alot of pressure in your pvc system... alot of times it means you have excessive blowby. your rings are shot! its ok, subarus can still go 100k blowing fat loads of oil into the pcv system. if you have this problem, and its because of blow by, the only reasonable solution(other than a rebuild) is to t the two valve covers, plug the pcv vlave, and put a filter on the end of the hose you td off the valve covers. or a filter on each valve cover, as you see on v8s. i have had a few high mileage subarus, that would blow by so much oil they would foul the plugs in cold weather. but try replacing the pcv first, yoiu might be lucky=]

external wastegate action!

this new hatch i bought. 84, i think. non hydrolic motor. it leaks oil like a siv. sometimes its ok, and the next minute it will dump a quart on the ground at a stop light! seriously. bat mobile style smoke screen. i pulled the skidplate, and it looks like its coming from the oil pump. is there anything else up there that can leak? i have an oil pump reseal kit, and im going to try that tomorrow, but thats about the only thing up front to leak oil at pressure right?

its just been coverd, so many hundreds of times, that nobody wants to talk about it anymore. check the offroad section and try a search. -

ok, i read what i could, but am still confused. you had a 180 thermostat in there? i still had good heat with a 180, but the 195 makes the guage show half way up, opposed to 1/4 of the way up. i just fixed my gfs xt6 that had no heat. i tested alot of stuff, untill i noticed the flapper door contorlled by the heat/cold controll. it wasnt closing all the way. almost, but in reely cold weather, it didnt put out any heat. i had to pry the door shut with a big screwdriver, as the teeth were stripped out, and didnt push the door shut. id try for that. even runing with no thermostat at all, you get a little bit of heat. -
i have floored morganms lifted rig around conrers, just like i do my hatch, and wagon, that arent lifted. every time i have gone with bigger tires, they have gotten wider. effectively widining my wheel base, and making up for your higher center of gravity. i gained 3.5 inches wider wheel base with larger tires, and pug rims. and my tires are small. hit the ole man with that one. its still a car, and 3 inches isnt much at all. still way safer than a modern suv.

extreme cold blew a seal
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hehehe, this moning i had to rev it up and dump the clutch to keep it from dying, in neutral! it will move forward in neutral if the brake isnt on. cars hate cold like this. i broke a screw driver when i droped it on the concrete! -

hopefully i fixed it. forgot about winterizing my car, other than the anitfreeze. as far as i can tell, i was running half 2050 harley oil, and half 1030. and i was runing a 180 thermostat changed them both, and the squirt has changed to a drip. -

external wastegate. bolts onto a flange, welded to the xover pipe. big bucks. but they sound so cool. saabs and volvos had them stock in the olden days. -
ea82. i was on the highway and i noticed a bit of smoke. i pulled into work, and oil was leaking out of a cam seal, or the oil pump. like dripping like crazy. the other day i saw this happen on an ea81, at the oil seal. extreme cold making rubber stay hard. hopefully its not cracked, and can seal itself back up, if it gets warmer? wierd stuff, also my oil guage was pegged the whole drive. i think i might be one of those guys that i have cursed for years. im thinking about cardboard in front of the rad for extreme cold. -9 real temp.

this is why im building an offroad trailer out of a 2x subarus rear runing gear. that way i wont have to overload the suspension of the car. you gotta have a welder. where can you get a cheap stick for the trail?

To bore or not to bore ?
archemitis replied to oldbodyDL's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yup, do that. bore it for sure and buy mcbrats pistons. -
man, they are "cult cars" for a reason. i dont even want to touch my toyota anymore.
-
but realy that is all you need. one more lb of fuel to every lb of boost your running. dial in the disty, and your good. when peepl buy a turbo kit for a honda, it comes with a check ball for their map sensor, and a rrfpr. works very well, not a bandaid.

im assuming the machinist doesnt think a ball hone will clean them up enough? you are reringing with new rings right? thats a tough call. i guess if they are within specs go for it =] -
Doing ej22 swap.....need fuel pump
archemitis replied to ballitch's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
trust me, they are on a little shelf under the rear passenger seat. along with the filter. another reason i dont like subaru pumps is because i have seen two of them rust to pieces. mine acutaly started leaking, and spraying fuel around the car. they have this baffle on the top of them, and its very thin metal that can rust. if your lookin in yards. you have to find an early 90s? ford truck. it will have a small pump in the tank, and this high pressure one further up the lines. i have only used new napa ones so not sure about donor cars. -
