  1. i needs some rx springs. front ones. thanks
  2. yellow to negative on coil, other one goes to posative on the coil. put switched power to the positive side, and the engine will run with your carb on it. thats about all the wiring you will need, other than a starter relay. and the tach hooks up to the yellow/negative side of the coil.
  3. i usualy have my advance all the way to that one side =] all my subarus as far as i can remember. they never ping, it just moves the power around.
  4. i got a welder, i'll prolly weld the rear end before i install a lsd. they are the rarest items in the subaru universe.
  5. is that what they do? seems very improbable, were talkin the one that drives the alt and ac right?
  6. longer runners help with top end torque, and hp and short runners are better for low end grunt, as far as i understand it... i asked the guys at redline weber, and the other weber place, and they said, "what for?" the dont seem to think it would help. but who knows. a hole in the hood with an air cleaner sticking out is cool!
  7. its runnin, so i aint touchin it. i wanna v belt it, since all i have is the water pump and alt. but the rubber damper thingy is more high tech, maybe thats why the timing belts dont fry as often on the big six... maybe
  8. ya, i think id be inclined to weld it the first time it happens to me, but i like welding... alot! =]
  9. aight, i was gettin my info from a napa book i was looking at when picking the pump im runing now. ford f150 external. 90psi 50 gph y 50 psi at idle?
  10. i think you should upgrade the stock fuel pump before you try and max it out. its only rated to about 45lbs of pressure. if they fit, you should be able to tune it in... i still havent heard about a rising rate fuel pressure regulator being thoroughly tested. with the stock injectors.
  11. ya, im assuming im reading 50%higher than the revs im realy running. do aftermarket tachs have settings for dual or single fire ignitions... ours is dual fire, but im just wonderin...
  12. 6 cylinder in my 86 hatch, the tach works, but i wonder if its reading correctly.... its the original one from the 4 cylinder.
  13. i think i sent you a pm. i can ship it monday afternoon when ups stops by, overnite if you need it.
  14. yar, i agree, shes deffinately not gonna be super duper fast, just fast for a subaru. i cant wait to see how much of the 150hp im gonna get to the ground. 100+ at the wheels would be nice =]. its a 4 wheel dyno, so i could stick my front axles in too.
  15. how could i get one off at the junkyard? theres one with no tranny, and no clutch/flywheel. i tried to get it off and it just spun, even with a hammer. i guess i could fill up a cyliinder with rope, and send it to you. hopefully i can get there tomorrow. got any cool er27 stuff to trade for it? =] like an air cleaner adapter. i was thinkin about switchin to a v belt for this very reason, it seems kinda common.
  16. i honestly have had only good luck with timing by ear/foot. i time it with a light, then want more. so i just crank it =]
  17. ya, im heading to texas late january, where my cousin runs alamo autosports, and ennis race way is right down the road, so numbers for sure! @sap.
  18. thats what i run, i dialed in the stock lift, and dont rub, even loaded down. but... if you dont have the factory adjustment... there is some spacing you can do with more than the stock number of rubber bumpers:brow:
  19. =] tom, its easy as pie, all you need to do is hook up the red wire to constant power, the black and white, and the white and red go to the switched power(i used the old +wire on the coil, and wire up the fuel pump just like the diagram. run a wire to the starter, then hook up the tach, oil pressure guage, and the water temp guage, then rev her up! =] i just went for a more extensive test drive with no hood, its hard to not spin the tires... well tire, its open diff rear wheel drive! =] its time to drive her to texas and dyno tune the hell out of her. when i tell peepl its my dream car they look at me funny. when i open the hood they wont anymore!@#$#$@!!!! wrx? mines bigger! celebration time
  20. ok, i just looked, im runing an ea81 flywheel on the er27, same as ea82, as far as marks go. my 20degree mark is punched at 15degrees. id guess if you ran an ea82 flywheel on an ea81 and went by the marks, youd be runing 5 less degrees of timing, right? i marked mine by sticking the ea82 flywheel on the motor, moved it to 20 btdc, took it off, put on the ea81 flywheel, and punched it where the arrow pointed, which was 15btdc.
  21. whoohoo, sounds like a drag car, just got her up to temp, and drove around the block. my vac guage is reading around 25+at idle =]. one tooth off on the disty does crazy stuff. thanks again
  22. well, i dont have a brass t and a guage that goes up to 90lbs so no, i havent checked my fuel pressure. i have gone as far as sticking the return line into a bucket to make sure its not the return line. also i pulled a pump off a runing car, and tried it. i gotta mess with the timing again i suppose. i marked the disty when i pulled it out, but i think i bumped the engine while it was out. i know im not 180 out, and thats what matters =/ thanks will report back, im so close.
  23. sounds like an ugly, fuzzy, green, brittle wire, or plug crappin out. id check the wiring for obvious uglyness first off.
  24. there wont be problems, its efi! electronic fuel injection. it adjusts itself, sure you can find aftermarket computers, but this will work great. i know a guy runing mitsubishi fuel injection on his 72 vw bug engine. thats a computer meant for 190 hp stock, runing a 75 hp motor. mass air flow sensor, thats all it needs. you cant think of it like carburetion. if you put an ea82 carb on an ea81 it would work, but it would run fat, unless you changed the jetting, but efi does that automaticaly.
