thats alot of hours... the diode is a one way gate of flow, as far as i can tell i dont need it, i didnt need it on the mpfi ea82 i wired up anyway. i only use the part of the harness from the computer to the engine, then splice in the relays on the big green plug, and the ones that cross over to the dash. if mine works well, i can draw it out, and it might save you some time =].

20 $ fedex ouch... i just went through all this today... again. 2p74028 is a napa part number, it fits early 90s late 80s ford trucks. it is the same size and everything, except you have to buy an adapter for reducing from 5/16 to 3/8 inch hose. its about 50 bucks. pretty much any external pump will work, 12 volts, 45lbs or more, and a good flow rate, 30gpm or more. mines 90lbs max, with 50 gpm(is that gp minute, or hour? i forget)

PVC valve - i need help.
archemitis replied to moshem74's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
on cars that have excessive blowby, pcv routing is a must. my ea81 will foul plugs, because its got enough blowby to force oil down the intake... every v8 ever hotrodded has crank breathers and i have never heard of an exploded crank due to pcv gasses... egrs are for suckers too! =] -
did you wire yours yet tom? did you notice most of the wirecolors were completely wrong? did you figure out that diode? and... did you notice anything about the neutral position switch?

Relationship with my subaru slowly faiding
archemitis replied to PeterD's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ya... gears arent the problem, its the 75 hp your dealin with. a 5 speed would make it "feel" peppier... but you need a turbo, or efi! =] an ea82 ohc 8 valve 1.8, or ea81(na or turbo) should bolt into your car as long as your starter is off to the side, wherer the heater hoses go into your firewall... afaik. a 5 speed fits right in too, so theres not realy anything stopping you.. they are Legos! -
actualy, a hacksaw would probable take 30 minutes, and three blades. half a rung at a time is what i have heard to start with.
-
yar, thats why i referenced the hacksaw =] actualy none of my vehicles are lowered... im just here for fun.

Where can I get a bigger/better radiator??
archemitis replied to pwoens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you can fit a legacy radiator in there with a few modifications, then your open to alot more aftermarket ones too. it required adapters... but its bigger =] -
Question re:same brand tires for 4WD vehicles???
archemitis replied to bgambino's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you want fun in the snow... i had a set of toyo snow tires on the rear, and some highly siped all weather treads on the front of a wagon. feels alot more like a rear wheel drive car. -
91 loyale died on highway, no warning
archemitis replied to mountainbikeak's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
subarus are alot like girls... they'll treat you great for 2 years, then they'll leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere with no warning... -
Can I fix this??? Wheel question??
archemitis replied to pwoens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you sure wheels flex that much? im just thinkin about how rigid aluminum is, and how it would break if it was flexin for 100k miles. -
heheh, heres what id do... install motor wich is too large for car. un crank rear torsion bars... blammo!
-
stick the button and twisty thingy in the dash somewhere, thatd look cool.
-
id like to try the heavy pressure plate with a stock friction disc... i have done this in motorcycles with great results, enguagement is smooth still, with just a heavier pedal. i have driven a 3 and 5 puck, on a 20lb boosted eclipse, and a boosted 300z and... its hard to get off the line... a cop was next to me in the eclipse once, at a stop sign. and you pretty much have to dump the clutch, and take off... luckily i didnt get pulled over.
-
cruise is alot like cup holders... you dont see either in race cars, and.... =] the pedal unit thingy, and the controll box. its all vaccume. i think its the same on carb units as on mpfi... if its not, id want the carb one, cuz its very simple. i think you need that big black plastic balloon thing too.

i got a hack saw =P but no honda =/

Boost sensor on a carbed EA82?
archemitis replied to mschafe's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
wjm i got a 2 bar map sensor from a 91 isuzu impulse... that means its good to one bar, or 14.whatever lbs. it has 3 wires, and i could send you the page from the fsm that tell you the values.. like 4 lbs, is .456 ohms... stuff like that. -

archemitis replied to bgambino's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ya... nice avitar. sometimes a new subaru can be had for what 4 new tires costs. i run different brands front to rear, and dont worry about it. i keep them the same size all around tho... if you only use the 4x when you are stuck, or something like that, runing around with 2 different tires wont hurt anything. but ya... 4x and different sized tires generally dont mix. -
whenever your in a pinch, black hoods look nice! =]
-
i think looking at it from a dependability standpoint, id want to run a recirc valve. you could get one off of a turbo eclipse,. they hold good up to 20lbs. it willl make your turbo last longer. the stock system has a dashpot, or whatever, thats supposed to keep your turbo from hitting a brickwall, when your throttle plate slams shut... but a recirc would work better. and it would obviousle look cool to have more plumbing under your hood... right:lol:

wouldnt an aluminum subaru tranny be lighter than any cast iron rwd tranny?
