  1. well, i ditched the intercooler idea. and i now have a legacy radiator mounted up front. it actualy fits behind the stock bumper and under the hood. consequently i now only have two square headlights, instead of the 5 i once had =[
  2. anybody wanna bring two desent front axles for my hatch? =]
  3. Cometic is a great gasket company, they have been making gaskets for harleys for a while, and it seems every time they make up a gasket... Harley comes out with a very very simular version. should be good stuff
  4. chux, find a ej22, and buy one of those adapter plates! =] i'll help ya wire it.
  5. are you guys referring to the large tires with the low low gearing? this is gonna happen soon, so i need all the thoughts i can get. i realy like independant suspension, but a solid rear isnt out of the question.
  6. ok this is my plan, use the suspension and steering and vin# from this xt6 i have. build a tube frame, bolt all the subaru xmembers to it. i want 32s or 33s, so i need hp and an xfer case. im thinkin about a 2.2 with a awd 5 speed, mated to a transfer case. anyone of you guys done anything like this with a 2.2 and xfer case? any ideas would be great! =]
  7. it snapped onto the tranny easy, it was tough to get the motor mounts far enough towards the rear of the car to pop into the holes. i ended up loosening the bolts that hold the tranny to its crossmember. taking out one of the passenger side headlights is a must also. the cam cover sticks forward an extra inch on that side.
  8. everybodys gotta start somewhere, theres pleanty of 5 speed dual ranges in our state, and i guess the pedals bolt in???
  9. ya, well um... did i mention this is a budget build? as in no budget =]. that intercooler is my custom radiator at the moment. along with a big oil cooler, and a heater core. should do it, till spring. or untill i can afford a custom build radiator.
  10. the pics of the exterior of the car is when it had ea82 mpfi in there, so i have a good handle on the wiring. should be runing any day now =]. it should be extra fast right? anyone have any power to weight comparisons, or guesses on 0-60 mile times, if you base them off of the xt6? and consider my car weighed 2100lbs with the smaller motor? i realy cant wait to floor it =]
  11. ok, now i got the motor back in, it was alot easier after i cut out the lower radiator support, and made a little room towards the rear of the valve covers, with a grinder and hammer. i also cut off one of the ears for adjusting the timing on the disty. oh crap, im an hour late for work! =]
  12. hehe, the motors back out now, i wanted to make some extra room. the damn thing is a bit wider than the ea82. as far as i can tell, i dont have a caliper that big to check lol
  13. this saturday, a bunch of subaru got together at my garage. it was a blast. we went offroading, at a spot only about 1 mile away. i got to see a 2.2 awd impreza floor it up some muddy hills, and big dirt piles. we had three black wagons! my xt6 liked the offroading, and there was one jeep =]. i just want to draw attention to the subaru offroad action in minnesota. if you guys with in driving distance missed this one, you should come out when the west coasters pull through, later this month. this time i met 9 new people, who like subarus! most of the cars were stock, and they came with skidplates from the factory, for a reason right heres a pic of all of the cars that went out on the trail. my black wagon is out of the pic, next time we gotta line up all three together(only one is factory black).http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25501&page=2 keep an eye on meet and greet forum for the next get together.
  14. my dad just got the crazy idea into his head that he wants to build a buggy. im thinkin ej22, with a 5 speed, with a transfer case, and 32x12.5s =] its gotta be street legal. i was wonderin if sweet82s is lisenced, and street legal.
  15. ok, i hate to admit it, but... i got a hotrod tip from Monster Garage. i was watching this one, and jesse lifted the motor about half a foot, so it would stick up and look all mean. i guess its kinda common practice for dudes with big american muscle. well, my er27 is big as hell, and with about one inch of lift, or less on the engine only, the h6 nameplate would stick up past the hood. it would also give more room to the front of the engine. whaddaya guys think, bigass H6 on display? or tucked down in there, kept a secret?
  16. BUT... in a pinch, you can rebuild an ea81 axle with parts from an ea82 axle, and vise versa! =] just mix and match the parts that fit. seriously, it works.
  17. hopefully morganm will post pics shortly. its so damn tight, i had to take the two lower studs out of the engine, to get it onto the tranny. a shoehorn would have helped. its that close!
  18. you gotta floor it, and hit 0 lbs of vac before you can start boosting it, holding it at 4 grand, or any lvl rpm wont do it, cuz your not floorin it. 0lbs of manifold pressure and vac get a boost/vac guage, it helps to understand
  19. the motor needs to be under load to buld boost. that and just reving it doesnt give it the time to creat boost.
  20. cool, im shovelin snow today, its 740 now, and i will be done by 11, so around noon or noon30 should work good. turritos pizza on concord. about 6 minutes south of 494. looks white outside!
  21. now that its hypothetical. mitsubishi made a great motor for that truck that will beat the crap out of an ej22. 4g63t 2.0 turbo eclipse motor. 190hp on stock boost. =]
  22. aight hope everyone knows how to get there. i'll be there
  23. yar, i gave up on my weber and carbs too. the 80s efi is so easy, all you realy need to do is wire in two relays, and swap the fuel pump. its great, its llike subaru ment for it to be easy.
