xt6 pulsating, and very low, to no idle
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
man tell me about it. that bumper is the worst ever. its in front, behind and to the left of the alternator. two wires going to it. brass, about the only one up there. you can also just clean the pins, and the connector, but my connnector was very loose, and green! =] -

just fixed this this yesterday. i soldered new wires onto the coolant temp sensor, the wires were green, and the plug was shot, so soldered them on, and it works great now. -

ug gas. resisting detonation is the same as not burning as easliy, or however you want to word it. -

'92 Loyale Wagon - Chewing up hubs
archemitis replied to ShadowHawk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
this happened to me on the road in a buddys subaru. he floored it into second, and we started going slower. i pulled out my wrench, and tied to torq it, and it was on solid. i was thinking the guys at the shop, that just did his break job, rattled it on with an impact while not havin the splines lined up. i have a car that the nuts get loose on, last time i torqed them to 175 and they got loose, backed off to the cotter pin. wierd stuff. its crazy how much stronger the axlestubs are compared to the hubs -
man, id love to get in on those ice races. i got spare trannies layin around:grin: i think we should go down to the old rock quary. its an off road park, it was closed. but we should be ok, morganm, and i have a plan to make it look legal like. =] trust me. hope to see all you guys, i have a garage, and spare parts, for whatever breaks(you know something will). hopefully the newest incarnation of my hatch will be screamin by then too!

i dont want people to think i make a habbit of offending someones family, or racing on the streets, so heres my reasoning. i drive a motorcycle, one day i was tryin to keep up with another, much more powerfull bike. i was doin ok, till a guy cut me off, and i plowed into the back of him at about 60mph. flew over the car, landed in front of it. he swerver, and floored it. took off, i was ok, but i still get flashbacks. that changed how i ride a bike, in the big city. also 2 months ago my cousin got married, after the weding his best man hopped in his moms 350z, my borther got in the passenger seat. the driver turned the traction controll off. and started shifting down the street with the manual option, sideways and smokin! they mand it a 1/4 mile down the road, and hit a tree, my brother walked away, but the best man died on impact. street racing is bad, ok, i dont doubt that. it doesnt keep me from speeding, but i deffinately dont go out looking for a fight, or a race. thats why i like offroading. you can be goin 40 and it seems like 100. and if you mess up, its your deal, not some innocent by standards. sorry to offend anyone, its just like if I get attacked, I go on the offensive and get fire fingers real quick.

yes, i second the spfi snorkel idea. i did this on my hatch. i had to file a little channel all the way around the spigon on the carb, so that the rubber had something to bite into. worked pretty well. or mpfi has a cooler snorkel thingy, that should fit also. on the exhaust. you can gut your cats, and take your muffler off, for free =]. but ya, at 16, you prolly dont have too much money. id say its time to start learnin how to do stuff on your own=]. instead of spending money at a shop, buy a 200$ welder and go to town. thats how i learned.

ok, if you have a low compression car, and you run premium gas, you car will be slower than if you were runing the cheap stuff. its not more performance, the higher octane is harder to burn. thats why it doesnt pre detonate or ping as easily. so if your using 91 octane in your 8:1 compression motor, stop, ,unless its a turbo. also, we have 93 octane here, but its loaded with about 10 %ethanol. which makes my 11:1 harley ping like crazy. -
just my opinion the best way to launch a awd, 4x car is to rev it high, then slip the clutch off the line till you let it all the way out. this is bad on clutches tho. dumping the clutch only spins tires, or breaks stuff.
-
well, untill i decide to go 5 speed, im going to run fairly new clutch, pp, and flywheel from an ea81, on the er27. bolted it all up, and transfered the timing marks today. gutted the cat, and painted some rusty stuff. and, i almost got the wiring finished =]. i love legos!

ya, i read that one, made me smile =]. about the best thing any newschool kid has said to me about my subaru was, man i bet you have fun in the snow! theres not much racin here in minneapolis for some reason. not as many hotrods as you would think for a big city. im kinda used to texas where everybody is tryin to prove how fast they are, and everybodys got a mustang.

The day my old brat turned 200K miles.
archemitis replied to ShawnW's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
its funny the highest mileage subaru i have ever had (just hit 200k) is my nicest one. -
or do all that and stick it in a stock early 80s chasis! =] das my plan, hopefully it will be runing next sunday and ive only had the donor car for 7days now.

im not out tempting kids to race me. thats not the point of this whole thread! kids these days dont think about the past. im sorry i said anything about your daughter, but theres realy no reason to attack me. id never say i would kick any of your asses, for any reason.
-
i realy dont want to get into this. i speed sometimes. sorry i wish i could delete this post all together.
-
thats about the oldest gayest opinion i have ever heard. would you kick my rump roast if i told you your daughter was hot? no need to get all angry at me. notice i said up to 30 mph, not much of a race. i didnt even know he was there till a few stoplights. 4 lane streets, and hes was on one side, and i was on the other. im 24 so he coulda been 20 for all i know, im feeling old lately.
