Tick of Death Questions
archemitis replied to rwaterhouse's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i deffinately wouldnt call that a tick of death. cars will go for 50k miles like that and not notice anything than the noise. you'll hear all kinds of tricks, just dont use kerosine or oven cleaner like i have seen mentioned! i had an ea82 that did it and after a few scheduled oil changes, it went away. also i have an ea81 that i have even changed the oil pump gaskets, and rebuilt the pump, and it didnt help. no big deal, just noise =] in my opinion -
Momo and Nardi aren't just for the new gen anymore!
archemitis replied to Qman's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
fab a short shifter? i cut them down then weld the threaded part back on you gonna try for an actual short throw shifter? i drove a honda with an actual short throw, and it was crazy, i liked it alot. -
but if you get it down to the metal, you dont need the extend anymore, its just for the rust you cant remove. takin that windshield out is the only real way to do it, i have seen them in junkyards so bad that i could push the windshiled out without using a knife, or guitar string. and did when replacing a windshield in my wagon. lower it, thats about all i can think to do other than serious stuff.

archemitis replied to Qman's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
you need to cut that ****er down so you dont punch your heater controlls when you shift. i cut mine down about 4 inches shorter than stock, i like it lots. -
i dont know how you would feel an increase in power unless you had grounding issues before you started.

is this with the adapter plate to fit to a dual range tranny?

87 wagon fuel lines? carbed motor....
archemitis replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ok, the tiny one near the top of the firewall is the return line. the bigger one right next to it is the vent line that goes th the canister. the fuel feed line is the one under both of those hoses, a few inches down. hope that helps. pics later if it doesnt. -
my dad is so unconvinced of a subarus off road capability that he wont even entertain the idea of goin subaru offroadin with me =/ i'll get him out there to hit his head on the roof sooner or later.

spacers for the top shock mount. spacers for the whole rear subframe thingy, the driveshaft hanger in the middle. thats about all i can think of.

its just that you talk so much about how cool your stuff is going to be. i have yet to see you post any dyno numbers. how is it that a 1.8 honda motor with vtec can produce 170? technology. not knowhow. take your car to a scale and post how much it weighs, fsm is useless for this. making a new post once a month, boasting about how fast your car is going to be only impresses the new board members and peepl who believe you. the proof is in the dyno sheet, and 1/4 mile times.

im kinda thinkin it would be hard to make a switch to sence when my wheel is turning, but i could stick a toggle on it and just use it when i need it =]

Horse Power Ratings for Different Engines

ya man, you want another er27, trust me =] -
xt6 powersteering pump, can i use this pump with just power runing to it when the car is on? seems like it would work just like the stock pump. any comments? or will it not function without the power steering computer from the xt6, thus not at all. because of the speed sensetive nature of the steering.

Things leaned today....T-stat and detonation control
archemitis replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
do you think the knock sensor sends the signal to the computer which lengthens the injector pulse? i thought it controlled detonation with timing. like it would just retard it to its base setting. -
Air filters? Stock Box/Cone/Snorkel
archemitis replied to 4RnrRick's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
never seen an oiled stock filter. the oil only effects hotwire maf sensors(which is what most ea82s have). it has happened to me, and my borthers vw. i cleaned mine off, and it worked fine, he got a new part from dealer =/ i like the cone filter sitting in the spare tire area, mud doesnt get sprayed up there too easily. those stock fender snorkel tubes are bad imo, we pulled the one off morganms, and poured out about a cup of sand and mud/rocks for offroadin either run a k&n with one of the foam covers, under your hood, or make a snorkel. -
damnit dude, you make posts like this just to get flamed huh? if a turbo sube has trouble making that amount of hp with mods, why would na do it? how do you think your gonna get to 1800 lbs, my hatch is 2100 with an almost empty gas tank, and is as stripped as you can get. are you going off of a door sticker, or what you have read somewhere? at least somebody is thinking like they should about these delta cams. you gotta run high rump roast static compression to actualy have desent compression when the motor is running. those cams bleed off alot more compression than the stock ones. so your 9;1 engine would be like 8.5:1, maybe worse.

heheh just noticed it was moosens asking the question. =] is it kinda like the front lift screws on the strut, or something more? i have never seen them.
-
doing it that way for a lift, will eat axles, and mess up the front camber pretty good.

EA82T: Long Block Solutions
archemitis replied to 84Scoobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ya, dont assume a cracked head. you could always buy a head instead of a whole motor too. -
did the old disty have the vac advance, and is the map sensor a flapper or a hotwire? if its a flapper, then the negative side of the coil gives the computer the injector pulse signal. any ea82 carb disty will readily swap in to the flapper maf systems. if you have a hotwire system, you need a newer style disty.

archemitis replied to jamesp's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
