  1. so... you were driving in the ocean... lets talk about that =] do you always do that? or were you just testing it out? seems scary to even get close to the ocean in a car. but im in minnesota
  2. just for the record, my trick does work.even on the technologically advanced =] ea82s and mpfis. theres no way it cant, it just gives power to everything. but on a side note, i walked my gf through the ignition switch removal over the phone, so ya thats easy too
  3. try stickin some alumaseal in there. thats how subaru delt with the 2.5 motors problems gave my toyota another 6 months of driving, after a blown hg
  4. i heard that a hatch will float, but judging how that front end is pullin the rest of th car down, it would have to have 33s to float. looks like fun!
  5. 2.0 is a turbo motor! 1.8 or 2.2 for na! duh!
  6. yes, sometimes you get lucky and your cables need to be cleaned or tightened. my starter has 197k miles on it as far as i can tell, and my car has good documentation.
  7. psshhhh you guys and your fancy tricks. same as the ford jump the solenoid to power to get it to turn over. to get it to run, run a hotwire from the battery to the positive side of the coil. then go drivin around, if it doesnt have a steering lock =]
  8. well, some ghetto tricks. get it hot before the test. unplug the fan, and get it close to the red(not too close). also theres some stuff you can put in the tank that guarantees a pass thicker oil wouldnt burn past the rings as easy as thinner oil, so that helps too. theres more, just cant think at the moment.
  9. just to clarify, coolant will fill up the overflow, anytime your car overheats, doesnt nessecarily have to be pushed up by engine compression.
  10. something tells me the only way to get the low back, is to get a high compression na ea81, or ea82. but whats the fun in that? bump the compression would get you more low end, but you could never run that much boost.
  11. i've never payed over 400 for a subar, but i see em in the paper for like 1700 all day long, aim high, and hope you find a sucker =]
  12. that alt trick is cool, never thought about it. spfi and mpfi dont need to see anything from the alternator to work, so all of our cars could have an alt kill switch. better yet, a hydrolic tensioner pulley that you could loosen to turn off water pump too =]
  13. for expensive little things like this the USMB is the best online parts source. place an ad in the calssifieds, and im sure somebody will send you 3 for 20 bucks.
  14. that will just make more turbulence, that your cone filter is supposed to reduce. and its a restriction, making your air slow down. pure bs! use mobil1, guaranteed mpg improvement.
  15. jon of scio i know how to make the perfect engine! but i cant tell you! =P
  16. i am pretty sure all you need is the lecacy turbo, and stick the ea82 exhaust housing on the bottom.
  17. subarus are dogs, thats why they came with dual range trannies and the gearing to just barely go 80. remember this? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10369&highlight=rx+dyno thats the highest dyno sheets i have ever seen from one =] sorry
  18. i thought i liked the older seats, but then i got into these. the rx seats are still kinda hokey, but these feel like race seats, compared to others. most of the height adjust is in the construction of the seats, steel hinges and pivots, it would be alot of trouble i think.
  19. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12335&highlight=hatch+xt6+seats i still love them, should be about the same as your seats. everybody thinks im extra short till i get out of the car.
  20. have faith. i live in minneapolis mn. pleanty of tax dollars for lotsa salt on the roads, within a 100 mile radius. i managed to find one cherry(cherry for me) 86 hatch from WA, and one very nice red wagon, from virginia. got em both for about 300 a piece(with blown motors). it did take two years of driving a rusty one before found these two, but both were by chance, by word of mouth. so what im saying is, be patient, and you can get a good subaru anywhere, just let some poor sucker drive it to you!
  21. 90 loyale, most likely a spfi motor right? sometimes the idle air controll valve will do this to you, sometimes it makes it idle too high. you can try some carb cleaner down the throttle body, and the iac hose, comin right off the tb. i heard you can adjust idle too, but not sure.
  22. you can use one off of any ea82 carb model. same stuff... er at least, works the same.
  23. well everybody needs to remember.. peak hp is gay, when you make about 20 hp till you hit 6 grand+
  24. these are subarus, you cant take a 65 hp motor and get 200 out of it natuarally aspirated, with stock heads, even heavily modified stock heads. sorry
