  1. ya, i swear theres somebody harvesting ea81 axles around here
  2. thats funny as hell, especially since the only peepl it would impress would be subaru dorks like us! ooh an rx! what the hells an rx? you mean wrx?
  3. ea82 5speed dr clutches are the same thing as a later brats clutch. same size same splines all that good stuff. i would say clutch, usually the only major repair they need, along with axles.
  4. z cars are the best cheap racers ever. poor mans corvette! put in the xt6 motor and tranny. it'd prolly be the same amount of work. more hp is much better than bling!
  5. just note the date of the original post, almost one year. it only took me about 2 months to get the swap all done and running reliably.
  6. damn, this post makes me feel like a wussie. time always screws me, along with money. i ended up with a na ea82 xt motor, with mpfi. i have all the parts to turbo it cept a ea82t exhaust housing, to mate to a lecacy turbo. i would much rather have 130na hp than the 100 that i have now, even with the bigger tires, but im happy with the swap, and am puttin on some serious miles lately. as far as stickin in a 2.2 it should be easy as wiring it up, and making motor mounts and tranny mounts fit. might try that after i boost the crap out of this motor. the australian byb guys have tons of info on the 2.2 swap, and they are the ones who steered me in the right direction to get my ea82 mpfi running. good luck, more hp is always better!
  7. and, on the too much fuel thing, thats not it, i dont think. mine will open with the return line pinched, and the fuel pump is runing at 90 psi. them injectors dont know they need to open
  8. this system will start with the tps, the maf, the o2 sensor, all unplugged! as long as you have power to the computer, its gotta be your signal wire from the negative side of the coil. the spark part of this system is just like a carb, and the fuel injection, is just that, fuel. i bet you picked the wrong shielded wire to use as a signal, maybe. mine was yellow. and grounding the shielded wrap is inportant too. grounds! its something simple, keep pokin around, its gotta be wiring.
  9. throw it all away and buy that z car! for flashy wheels, pugs dont reely do it. 17s would be mean as hell!
  10. also for real world comparisons, my gutted hatch is 2100 morganms lifted ea82 wagon with about 300 lbs of crap in it weighed in at 2780
  11. did they ever come without a motorized door? i found one in the jy that didnt have one, and looked like there was no room for a door.
  12. does that thing wobble down the highway like a lifted ford on thornbirds would? looks mean as hell
  13. on the 6-6 seat thing, xt6 seats give you more headroom and footroom, with a little grinding and welding. one of the best parts about a subaru, is all of the high performance junkyard upgrades.
  14. they are easy as hell to work on too, the boxer engine is great, with no v to reach around and behind. starter on top. motor weighs 200 lbs, no winch needed, they are great!!! great i tells ya!!
  15. if you want something that gets maybe 10 mpg, on the highway, weighs more than your mom, and looks retarded get a truck to offroad. if you want something that can go through the same crap a stock bronco, or blazer, without any mods, gets 20+ mpg, even with big tires, and turns heads like mad, get a subaru and lift it. you wont be sorry, i suggest the ea81s they looks so much cooler!
  16. truck scale, thats certified to within 20 lbs.
  17. after i got about that far, i ended up having the firing order off. have you made the throttle cable work good yet? or did you switch to an efi one? believe it or not, in the end i pumped the gas pedal and it clicked to life. the fpr should be at the end of the flow like you said you have it hooked up. 180 out on the disty? do you have a cat thats soaking up all the gas preventing you from smelling it? its gotta be something simple, hope you figure it out soon.
  18. just in case anyone ever wondered what their car realy weighs. 86 hatch, 4speed dr tranny, gutted interior, no backseats or carpet, plastic bumpers, 15 inch pug alloys with 25.5 inch rubber, xt6 seats, still has radio with 2 speakers. short, lightweigh exhaust, with no cats. no spare tire, sitting at a quarter tank of gas. thats about all i can think of that would have anything to do with weight. with around 100hp its fun fun.
  19. my hatch is better for slow climbing stuff, but the wagon is better for high speed pre-runnin. on gravel roads my hatch is a little more squirley. but i would say HATCH ALL THE WAY!
  20. all of his grounds are good, now. we replaced them and added a few extras. im bettin on that big red power wire to the battery is loose. or corroded. and if the plug to the back of the alternator is worn out horribly, maybe thats it.
  21. just so you know, 6krpms in 4lo, in 1st gear, woulndt have helped get up a muddy hill either.
