  1. if it fit, it should work. something must be wrong, like the throughout bearing is not there? could you have forgotten something? i dont think you can even put them in backwards, so that cant be it. does the pedal have any spring at all? or just flops from the ground to the top?
  2. ya we need more old skool representation. everytime i talk to a guy with a wrx they ask what the heck im driving. i say something, like thats the wrx of the past. and they dont even know subaru made anything before the outback.
  3. 35$ at napa, inline, 50gph, 90 psi. works in my na mpfi.
  4. my brother has a newer golf, so he brings this magazine over called PERFORMANCE VW. its filled with pics of early to mid 80s vws all sported out. and its got new vws also. why dont we have something like this for subarus. my hatch wouold look right at home, in one of those mags. why are old subarus not held up in such high esteme as vw, toyota, mitsubishi, mazda. is it because they all have trouble breaking 100 hp?
  5. i might be selling a wagon to a buddy, so we could have 4 subarus to offroad at once! wed get pulled over for sure! =]
  6. illegal offroadin is all we got left in minnesota, other than corn fields, but those are no fun. i guess up north its good, in the mine pits. but thats far away to go beat on a subaru, and make it home.
  7. im just glad we made it out of there without meeting up with the authority figures. i kept missing little signs pointing the other way, as we were goin down a trail i hadnt been on in about two years. once i finally saw one it was a silouette of a horse! so horsetrails are fun, but slightly dangerous. all the real good stuff, was bulldosed =[
  8. ya water works good. about a half gallon should be all you need. use a vac port near the tb. dont let it die though, keep on the gas, to keep it runing. its kinda cool, as your car sucks up water through a straw.
  9. ya mine flies up at 40-50. hoodpins dont do squat if you forget them, ontop of your spare tire. motor pull!
  10. something that might make this doable, is using the turbo awd mitsubishi eclipse coupling, or tranny. its a side winder just like the justy, and it can handle some mean hp. made from 89-now probably.
  11. 4th is tha same as 5th? why does my hatch cruise at about4k rpms at 80, when my ea82 is at about 3k? you sure about that gd?
  12. never heard that sponge theory. i think its because the carbon takes up so much space in the combustion chamber that it raises your compression to dangerous levels. or a real hard piece of carbon can glow red, and light your charge before the spark plug gets to
  13. ea82s fit reel good, i love them, and would recommend that swap. timing belts rule!
  14. notice GD is the only guy that makes fun of lower stats, and hes the same guy that says his ea81s ride between the red and half way line!!!!!????????? i am officially discounting his information. 195 thermostats are made for peepl that want a hotter heater, and lower emissions. 180 degree stats work well, and dont hurt a damn thing, cept make your car spit out a little more emissions. my ea81s run at the half way mark, and if they go any higher i start looking for reasons why. with a 180 they ride a bit below the middle line. and if nothiing else they will give you 1or 2 hp just by lowering the temp of the intake by 10-15 degrees. isnt about the only thing that kills these cars head gasket failures? from heat? and pressures too high, for long periods of time?!! i figure you should do everything you can to make your car run cooler, and it will last longer. like 180 thermostats and an oil cooler, and a good radiator.
  15. morganm has his welded into rust, by yours truly. it caught on fire when the rust gave way, but it works nice. we welded it in upside down to make up for the lift. and we just got back from some pretty big bounces, and it held fine. his car is rusted to crap. just build it up, or weld in a plate then weld to it. but i say weld it!
  16. ok this is for you partsguys types. the place i buy all my car stuff, because its cheap, doesnt have bpr6es11 ngks, just bpr6es plugs. so i looked at the chart on what the #s mean and the 11 means its factory gapped at 40, and the one without the number? it comes gapped at about 20. im runing the bpr6es in one hole gaped to 40, and it seems like normal.
  17. money is key, also is the material. i just want a steel plate welded to both sides of mine.
  18. there are a buncha grounds that need to be bolted down too. pretty much any black one, if i remember right. i think i have 6 stacked on one bolt on the firewall
  19. try this. hook that fuel pump relay up like the book says, then feed power to the wire labeled ig power supply, without a relay, just right off the battery. that should be the on/off wire for the computer. also, keep the stock power wire that fed juice to the brat coil. it will give power to everything on that side of the coil.
  20. dont think its your o2 sensor. they dont do that much, especially make you hit fuel cut.
  21. i think its a tapered pipe thread, so being loose would make it leak. they gotta be very tight. but teflon tape, or pipe dope (sealant white stuff) should work great.
  22. that ring is just the last remnants of a gasket i bet. there should be no gasket between the head and the little cast iron emissions adaptor. and a metal/graphite composite gasket between the emissions adaptor, and the manifold.
  23. i agree completely, but, some parts guy handed you the wrong one. i've never seen one with a lip around the outer edge. i run a $3.50 thermostat from fleetfarm, and it works great. if theres a book there, use it yourself, having some dood look it up for you is asking for trouble.
