of course. what year rx you guys driving? i could use a good pic of the mpfi engine installed by the factory. as your lawyer, i advise you to hide all contraban well. minneapolis is nice, you dont have to worry bout getting pulled over ever! -
RX won't start, need help..

is your ecm spitting out any codes? even if its not running it will tell you what is wrong, like a 11 blinking on the led on the computer would tell you you hooked up the yellow ig pulse wire wrong, or not tight. or you could get a 14 or 15 which are the injectors not working. have you pulled a plug to make sure there is gas in there? are your vac advance hooked up? have you loosened the screw and tried retarding or advancing it to get it started? the vac lines off could mess with the maf sensor, and it would think its not getting enough air, because its all coming after the sensors, through vac lines. good ole efi! good luck. -

its not that, i sit in traffic and the elec fan does the trick just fine, i have a new radiator. i just think if i can run 6 quarts instead of 4 the motor would last that much longer. theres no denying that more oil is better right? and if its easy, its worth it right? -
who's that dis'n the Justy?!
archemitis replied to RallyJusty's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
um... thats a stock neon, not the srt4 turbo. 19lbs of boost big Fmic. boost limited to 8lbs in first gear to get a good launch. the wrx looses to the srt4. i hate to say it, but dodge just threw alot of good stuff at this big rump roast 4 cylinder the low numbers you find are high altitude ones. or something like that, the computer limits the boost in different weather, barometric pressure, temp all that stuff. either way, no ea81 would ever see one past 5mph. -

meeky um... does your hatch have a turbo? the only dodge neon it will beat off the line is the first one they made. the srt4 will spank wrx, and smoke stangs. so... sorry dude, unless you got a 2.0 under the hood. just speeking from experience, those neons are fast. off the line and up top. and racing in 4 low isnt the best thing, since you will top out at 50mph. -

ya, i got an oil cooler, and a remote filter that uses one of those big rump roast ford #1 filters, but a deep pan would be reel easy to make. all of the pans i have pulled off have baffles. all ea82s. but with more oil i wouldnt need a cooler, or a cooler thermostat or remote filter. -

im about to take a grinder to my oil pan, and im gonna weld on about 2-3 extra quarts. hopefully it will eleminate ANY heat problems. of course i will need to lengthern the pickup tube, also, and build a sturdy skid plate. anybody done something like this? theres no chance of unforseen problems, right? more oil must be good right?

XT BOV....WhooooshPssshhhhh
archemitis replied to XTreme's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
no bov on that car, you will have to put in between the turbo and the throttle. you could drill a hole in the aluminum part of the intake that says subaru turbo, and then tap it. bet a big one, so everybody thinks you have a t3 under there =] -
mpfi conversion, what not to do
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well, i found the universtal pump that fits on some sort of ford, its 80 bucks if i but it at napa, with my account, and it looks realy sanitary, andi might go with that. if i start getting fuel problems, i will look at a surge tank, seems like a good plan, but i wanna drive, it snowed today =]. -

yah, my gf and her will have something to talk about if shes at the midwest meet. she seems to think an ea81 intake and carb dont belong in the living room. shes learning how to spot nice old ea81s compared to scoroccos =]. -

so its kinda like the fear and loathing road trip, cept no race. -
TRUST ME, you want to buy a junkyard alt instead. have you ever had an alt apart, you have to hold the regulaotr in there, while you line up the brushes, and push the shaft in, while holding the case apart, then you push it all together, perfectly. no fun at all. and not easy without ruining the brushes, or the regulator itself. the regulator is in the front or rear, where the staft would be.

archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
no answer at all. i got the injectors to open, and i got spark, so i guess you dont need a diode, or a resistor. after this thing is running around town for a couple days, i will try and post my revised engine wiring schematic. -
you should, hatchbacks rule!
-
i'll just come out and say it now, before people beat around the bush for 10 posts. the justy is generaly considered an inferior subaru. low power, doesnt go good with big tires, and i dont think they would hold up offroad that well, because of the entirely short suspension. and you cant get big wheels to mount big tires on anyway, without some drilling, or something. and there is no aftermarket at all, not that theres much for the others. theres alot of reasons why no justys. the chasers are ea81 hatchbacks, and they get lifted all the time.

i should just order a fuel cell, are those legal inside a hatch? -
ok, i got fire in the holes. finaly got my ea82 mpfi on the way to working, in my ea81 hatch. so i got a couple questions. i have heard some people using a tank of some sort under the hood, with the fuel pump there, so you dont have to run efi lines all the way from the tank. what have people used? i tried sometihing, but it seems dangerous to have a half gallon under the hood. my other idea is to use an inline efi pump, under the hood, fed by the stock 1.5 lb carb pump. anybody got any pics of a successful install? i can post a pic of my car with the computer sitting on the hood=]
