  1. stick a breaker on your lalf inch drive. put car in neutral. use starter to break bolt loose. works everytime. or you need a bigger impact
  2. do you mean between the 32/36 and the 38? in that case the search wouldnt help. the 32/36 is a stock replacement upgrade, and the 38 is for more lowend torque, with a loss in gas mileage. i say 32/36.
  3. it would run on ether, and gas right down the throat. i had the tack working. the injectors never opened up. i wasnt using any resistors like my manual showed, and i was runing hot wires to get it going. like i said, that'll bet done this summer, when its warmer. i got a big fmic, and a t3 that needs a home.
  4. heres how close the fan comes to the timing covers. i hate how small these pics have to be.
  5. gutted the inside, and hosed it out for a couple hours. stinky brown water ran out. the little plugs pop out, so the water drains great.
  6. i got this thing from some ghetto dude, that i met in a parking lot. my other hatch drew him in, and we started talkin. 204k miles. no rust, well maintained, except for the interior. had a head gasket blown, and sat that way for 3or 4 years. it came from university subaru, in washington, as far as the plate frame says. i love the 80s graffix
  7. thats what i did at first. ea82, mpfi with the flapper. i couldt get an ignition pulse, and no injectors fired, just spark. when it gets warm agian i'll get a different hatch going with a turbo. i just need some help on getting the mpfi to work, with out using the whole harness, and the dash, and all that crap. why no ej? time and money. plain and simple. i dont have enough of either. but hopefully i can fix that later.
  8. heres an important one. if you are going to use an ea81 exhaust system on an ea82. you will need the air suction bracket/flange, to make up the space, between the header and the head. or you have to replace the ea81 manifold for an ea82. yah, its a reeely easy mod, you jump up about 20 hp, for the 14 lbs of extra weight. well worth it, even thought i have to change timing belts now. better than 75 hp.
  9. you know what im talkin about. all of the subarus i have seen have them. its a black wire going from one of the terminals on the coil, to ground, and theres a little metal cylinder. what the heck is that. someting to resist radio signals?
  10. no bolt in seats. sorry. not alot of room in there for legacy seats, or anything bigger for that matter.
  11. it was bad, but not that bad, i only dropped a little bit of it into the gas tank. hammer and screwdriver. the gentle method didnt work, it was all metal, a pretty nice one.
  12. yah, i think ea81 are the same spline. but ea82s are different, i know for sure. the big one only comes with the 1 spline count, and the the little ones come in both i guess. but the diameter of the outside is different. if you want to use a small clutch you would need a small flywheel, theres not an inch more surface area around the friction part. the clutch would sit half way on the pressure plate, and halfway off. 5 bucks plus shipping, the rivits are still pretty far down there, but you never know. check out the parts bin. thats where i found mine the cheapest about 1 month ago, for just the friction plate.
  13. but ryer... have you ever given that thing a beating off road? try 60-70 down a washed out fire road, or crawl over some rough terrain at a steep angle, and you'll see, they work pretty good stock. my wagon would go through stuff my 4runner would. the only difference was the subaru scraped on the ground the whole way.
  14. i just got mine started so i have completed the ea82 swap. have yet to drive, but that comes tomorrow. i gotta post pics, its looks nice, with no vac lines or stock crap at all.
  15. it must be that ford your parking next to it rubbing off... did it just start doing that? i would say ignition, like a coil with very weak spark. or timing is off. plugged exhaust could do that, but not the egr.
  16. how can i get into a gas cap that i have no key for? can i drill a 12 mm hole in the lock cylinder, and just open it? i gotta get it open tonite, so if i get no replies, i might just go at it with a drill and chisel and hammer.
  17. but the problem is that the 2x has its own spline(output shaft on the tranny), and you cant put a 2x on a 4x, or vise versa. you got one for free or something? i can send you a used 4x reely cheap.
  18. the bike shop i work at has the solder on ends, and the cable, so maybe you could have someone rebuild yours. the cable sheath is plastic, so you could just get the shortest one ther is. i think its a ea81 hitachi. if there is not enough cable sticking out, you can cut the plastic sheath to make it fit. but maybe you could get lucky at a harley shop, or a dirt bike shop.
  19. http://www.racetep.com/webfuelspark.html#webfuel looks like a hundred dollar fuel pump they are trying to sell, but im almost ready to order one.
  20. where is this clogged radiator rumor coming from? i have never seen a clogged radiator, and i have had alot of crappy cars. the only problem i have seen, is when the metal turns into oxide, which insulates, instead of conducting heat.
  21. yah, i just want to make sure it doesnt gointo the intake at all. i got rid of the EGR and i dont need crank oil and vapors and all that stuff, gumming up my carb, and perty clean intake.
  22. i would check fuses, and one of the three fusible links. a fuse should hav eblown before it hurt anything.
