  1. what kind of info do you usually get? is it detailed, or does it just tell you if it was stolen or crashed?
  2. hopefully the master will not be in my way, right now it just seems like the hill holder is holding me up. but, the mpfi distributor does have two vac thingies instead of just one. how much shorter is the auto one, and is it weaker? or what?
  3. could i get rid of my hill holder in my 86 hatch? which lines do i disconnect, and could i just plug them, or do i have to couple them together? ea82 is a tight fit, and i could use the extra room.
  4. you can bend the little tabs on the bottom, so it seals better. but that sounds like you have some blowby. smokes on startup and hard shifts?
  5. it doesnt realy matter if they dont exist. 180/85 13 is all you get
  6. just take the cap off the reservoir and turn them things. they will go in if they turn. i have used the special tool and a pair of needle nosed pliars. works great either way. dont disconnect anything.
  7. i went to change my bearings on the front this weekend, and noticed thy were in great shape. i checked my rotors with a dial indicator and they were .006. thats the limit, and they were making my car vibrate like crazy. does it do ANYTHING at all differently or more emphasized when you hit the brakes. theres not that much stuff it could be.
  8. im sure there are several schools of thought on the whole turbo your car thing, but why if you are going to go through the trouble, why dont you fuel inject it? subaru makes several systems that will work.just a thought. everything i have heard, tells me that the blow through, or suck through method for carbs, makes for horrible drivability. like, its only for sand rails and drag racers, that ONLY use wfo throttle.
  9. every 4x anything will have this prob, tires always wear different and stuff wears out in the tranny. try goosing it and letting off the throttle, and when the drivetrain unloads pop it into 2wd. do this without the clutch, and it should work good. or if you are in 4x you should have some slick stuff under your tires, witch will make it easier too. why would you use 4x on dry pavement?
  10. i thnk the haynes and chiltons only have the wiring for the hotwire. i have been runing into colors not matching on my 85 harness. let me know if you find the correct diagram, cuz im in the middle of the same thing. your going to use the ecu as a stand alone motor only controller right? not swapping the whoole harness in?
  11. nope. spfi has one intake port per head, the mpfi/turbo has two
  12. there is no way the flywheel and clutch stayed on the transmission. the flywheel is bolted to the engine with something like 8 bolts. you sure you werent drinking heavily when you saw this?
  13. there are two on each wheel right? napa just sold me two bearings, and two seals:banghead: to do the whole front end, at 60 bucks! that sucked alot, i got half the parts i wanted, and payed about twice what i thought.
  14. looks nice as hell, but theres paint in your intake ports. are your valves blue too
  15. with the correct tuning and fuel, i bet an ea82t could handle 20lbs. easy
  16. mine is grinding and hopping a little, i dont think grease will help me.
  17. i am doing the wheel bearings on the front of my ea81 2wd this weekend. i am wondering if i have all the tools nessecary. do i need a puller? can i tap the old bearings out with a drift? can i use a big vice instead of a press? any advice
  18. go look at some 900 horsepower japanese supras, and skilines, and all those. the reason you always see down the throat of the big fat turbo is not because they all use maP sensors(some do) but its because they moved their maF to where you are talking about. just think, your maf thinks that the air going into it is outside templ, but by the time it gets heated up, and cooled down agian, there has to be some issues. wouldnt a flapper door be better for that reason, it measures volume. instead of the hotwire, that just measures cooling effect. would be cool to try. it would work for sure. but think what would happen when your turbo started leaking oil.
  19. electric monk thats what all the nutso super high power cars use in japan. like 900 hp turbo monsters. it factors in the turbos heat, and the intercoolers effect.
  20. i dont think the xt6 flywheel would be an upgrade for an ea81. if you have the bigger flywheel of the ea81s yours already weighs less, or at least just as much. and unless you swap in an ea82, you cant use the xt6 clutch, because the splines on the tranny are different.
  21. i hacked one of the inlets off a cherry bomb, and put it right at the rear bumper, inplace of the stock one. 2inch in and out. at the rear of the car they are pretty quiet, but right after the y, my buddies brat was just another loud subaru. under 20bucks is the best part
  22. you just push the tabs into the wheel, and give em a little palm action, or a kick. they can go on when the wheels are on or off the car.
  23. so, are you saying you are runing this thing in rear wheel drive only? or are you runing the ea82 axles even though they are too long.
