but... the ea81s dont need the plastic pieces, just the center cap, and any center cap will do, ea81 or ea82. they made some cool aluminum discs that said subaru, that should fit. my favorite thing in the world is a white, shiny, wagonwheel, with a chrome center cap, with a blue center. best looking wheel of the 80s. if they came in 15s they would be the best, ever. just me.

Engine transplant and CIS-E
archemitis replied to AKIRA's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
whats so cool about the cis system? the mpfi is good enough to deal with 14lbs of boost. you cant realy compare that to a na spfi shortblock with a spider intake. i say rage what subaru gives you. mpfi but the money thing, i agree. anytime you go messing with cars, it will cost you more than you had dreamed. -
that guy is pretty retarded... but what about that monster turbo on that 2.0:slobber:

When did they drop the ea81 hatch?
archemitis replied to Dante's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
im pretty sure the last year was 89. i thik they were burning off inventory , and i seem to remember they didnt manufacture after 87? i have two 87s and i have never seen a newer one for sale. after 84 they should be available with all the goodies. -
i think that pertains to kerosine only. it looks the same. i have gotten it at fleet farm, in minnesota.

wiring, wiring! did you get any pics of the harness, after you figured all that out? how many wires did you need? only like 30 right? sounds fun as hell how long did it take?

i have always been against alchohol, in gas, for my high performance engines. my motorcycle has about 11:1 and with any fuel with ethanol it pings like crazy. somehow it lowers the octane rating. i dont think it will hurt your car will blow up, subaru probably didnt see the future containing 10 percent ethanol in all gasoline. there are some gas stations around here, that are directiong service towards farmers, and they sell ethanol free fuel, for of road use only, 92 octane. imagine that, pure gasoline is for offroad use only. either way, it works better. i think it should be fine as long as it doesnt ping or knock.

Whats A Pitching Stopper And How Do You Adjust It
archemitis replied to cole098's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ea81s and ea82s are different types. to adjust the ea82 style you have to bend it to shorten it, and thats all you get. on the ea81 its on a long screw, and mine is double nuted, and is adjustable about 2inches. i think you pretty much center it on ea81s, what car are you asking about? -
i like nippon denso u groovs.

Best EFI Subee Motor...
archemitis replied to Salvage Brat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ea82 mpfi is pretty good for the 80s. or you could just slap an spfi computer and wiring on your ea81 block. no more screwin around with crappy carbs! all you realy need is an o2 sensor in your exhaust -
computer question from turbo to spfi
archemitis replied to 86subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the xt seats fit right in, but one bolt hole will never line up, but 3 works for me. the mpfi wiring, im going for it right now. im going to use the computer and only part of the wiring harness. the under dash stuff seems useless to swap, so im hoping my xt computer will work as a engine computer only. my plan is to have my computer in the glove box, i'll let you know if it goes good or if i end up machining a carb adapter for a mpfi manifold. -
quick ea81toea82 swap question
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ok, i like the idea of the marks, but the ea81 flywheel is alot lighter than my ea82 flywheels. and for some reason the 4x xt i got the motor out of, had a 7 7/8 clutch. i figure i'll punch the flywheel since my timing belts are right on. -
EA81 Performance Mods--Best Bang for the Buck?
archemitis replied to Dante's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
false info. they all have cats. engine swap to an ea82 is cheaper than a weber. -
why dont people transfer titles?
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i found a neat little form at the dmv, that forces a title transfer. j just 7bucks. so both these guys will be rolling around with illegal plates, and wont know it till they get pulled over. hahahahaha i shoulda called them in stolen one guy racked up 400 dollars in tab and parking tickets -
i have sold two subarus in the past year. i just went to transfer titles today on my new brown(cherry) hatch, and i found out neither of these lowlife suckers has transfered my titles. i trusted these guys , so i didnt send in the little stub, but i did first thing today. just so you guys know, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, i dont have the cleanest driving record, so watch out for cops:banana: just a reminder to everybody, send in those green thingies!

quick ea81toea82 swap question
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
lets asume that some people/companies on the internet are retarded. would a sure fire way to get an 8 7/8 clutch disc be to order a turbo brat clutch? -
Better seats for 84 wagon
archemitis replied to Tom63050's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
late 80s honda preludes had very nice seats. i know for sure that the ones with all wheel steering had the best ones you could get, and they fit in a brat, without too much welding. and they were black, and thats always good. -
EA81 radiator questions
archemitis replied to Tom63050's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
um... aluminum conducts worse, than copper. but anything works better than green fuzzy stock ea82 rad. an ea82 aluminum fits right in, with only a couple of drilled holes. works alot better. -
im wondering when i go to buy my mandrel bends, if i should get 1 7/8 or 2inch tubing. 2 seems a little large, but i do want to go all out here. its for an ea82 mpfi. any thoughts guys?

quick ea81toea82 swap question
archemitis replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i like the idea of using the ea82 flywheel better, since theres no drilling and you retain you timing marks.
