Ok, 3 new gaskets later, I STILL can't get the water pump to seal. I've tried with sealer, without sealer, anerobic sealer, paper gaskets, you name it. All of my bolts tighten equally, so that's not an issue. I don't see any cracks on the 2 pumps I have, nor the block. Not saying there aren't any, just saying I can't see them. HELP ME! before I set fire to this car!

boogered up spark plug threads...
crazyhorse001 replied to jonas's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I did that to an EA82T. My chaser tool was magnetic, but I greased it anyhow. That lasted thru 4 plug changes, then I had to do a threaded insert. Helicoils are for the birds! More often than not I end up pulling the coil back out with the bolt. If you can get to it, use a threaded insert. -
XT6's are like any other EA series car...TOUGH AS NAILS!

Ok, this thread just became relavent to me. I swapped a '95 OBD1 trans into my SVX & have the flashing AT TEMP light @ startup. Mysteriously, I also have no FWD light with the fuse in. Factor this into your thoughts on this issue. The car drives flawlessly, still does the torque interrupt during shifts, and generally works as advertised. For the record: Trans is a '95 Impreza 4.11 AWD Car is a '96 SVX

My thoughts on the recall wire is somewhere in the vicinity of the D/S strut tower. You may get a better response on XT6, or PM grossgary here.

The blue wire is a recall part that Subaru put on...if you like power steering, and non-crispy cars... leave it be. Just kiddin about the crispy part, but it is there to keep the P/S motor happy. That Raptor pic is just one of many in a google picture search for "Raptor logo"

If you're gonna do a bird logo, make one up, be creative with the Raptor moniker.

I hope your local law still uses Impalas. Cuz if they gots Chargers...Well your XT6 at ~135, aint gettin away!

Audio File, That XT6 SCREAMS Stealth Fighter. That may be a good start to find a name:headbang: I tossed & turned many a sleepless night trying to decide wether I wanted an XT6, or an SVX. I wound up with an SVX.

The following is pure blue sky theory: Maybe, just maybe, they intend on making the Coupe the new STI? Think about it, 305hp RWD 2+2. Sounds like a TON of fun to me. If they can keep it under 2 tons that is:lol: Of course with the standard 170hp, it will still be a kick in the pants, just need to keep it LIGHT!!!! Then there's the Hybrid possibilities....150hp 2.0l with a 60hp electric assist...total underfoot...210hp! Not a lightweight setup, but Tres-Chic. This could be a good thing, as long as Toyota stays out of the design, and handling development.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen with the 2.2. It's just much more rare that it does. Any aluminum engine can pop the gasket randomly, it's a thermodynamic fact. The better engineered engines take this into consideration. My best guess on the 2.5 issues is, something in the heads flexes, or they don't expand uniformly. This causes the head to wear the gasket thin. Eventually the gasket simply can't hold the combustion anymore. Once it gets to that point, it's a losing battle.
