Here is a general shot so you get an idea where it is: A closer up shot, sorry about the blur... There should be a second hose that comes off the side of the "valve" that heads back across the engine towards the passenger side. The nipple that it should go to is broken off and looks like it is closed off. I can post better pictures in the morning if needed. Second question is there a preferred brand of parts that work best with the Brat as far as tune-up goes? I am looking to do plugs, wires, cap and rotor to start. Just head to Napa Auto Parts or ??? Thanks in advance for the help, I'm sure I will have lots of other questions soon!

Yes it is! Its a rattle can job, they didn't mask it off all that well. I was thinking about a CARC 3 color woodland camo job, something like my friend did with his 01 Tacoma: -

I emailed with him about the one he had for sale also, he sent me one picture but didnt have any more: I dont know if the yellow one here is the one I got or not, I will have to ask him. In his email, he told me that he had sold the yellow one for $3200. The lady I got it from purchased it in September 06 so the timing would work with the date in the picture. If it is the same one and he did sell it to her for $3200 I got a heck of a deal as I talked her down a bit from her asking price of $1950. -

http://www.parksoffroad.com/subaru/yellowbratpics/index.html Decided to keep the silver one for parts so I picked this one up from Craigslist: http://fresno.craigslist.org/car/278312271.html There is still a second one listed on Craigslist in the Fresno area: http://fresno.craigslist.org/car/272105793.html Funny thing is that the guy with the second listing owned the yellow one that I just picked up before the lady I purchased it from. The lady I got if from only had it for about 7 months and it didnt work for her needs so she was selling it again. That guy had quite a few brats, does anyone know if he is on this board? His name is Hector Butter, I figure I will call him this next week and see if he can give me any info on this one from when he owned it. It had a leaking radiator, but she had a brand new radiator she got off Ebay. I installed the new radiator this morning and got new upper / lower hoses. Had been thinking about it, and figured it didn't have a thermostat either. Picked one up while I was there, good thing, got home and pulled it apart and no thermostat. Put it all back together and everything seems fine, I plan on keeping a close eye on it for a bit to be sure!

A few more questions....
parksoffroad.com replied to parksoffroad.com's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would be using the tow dolly, so only the rear on the ground. OK, just wanted to make sure! -
Before you I did search but didn't find a definitive answer about the towing question! Can you use a tow dolly with a Brat. In my case, 86, manual tranny with dual range t-case. On my push bar, there are this plastic pieces, don't know what they are called so I took pictures: These are now very sun rotten and chalky. These are not the originals, I actually made them from plastic stock back around 1997. Can you get originals or should I start making them again? On another note, I will have a surprise on Sunday

How do the snow tires last on the dry road? I had a set on an wagon that were studded but they were shot on the road in just a few hundred miles! -

Yes, I plan to add a Subaru section to the site and add info. I would also welcome anyone that had write-ups and wanted them posted to email me and I can add them to the Subaru page. -

The factory seats were missing, those are RCI racing buckets. I also have covers (black sides with a yellow stripe down the middle) that go on them. There were 5 point seatbelts but they will have to be replaced as they were molded and severly weathered. I put them in when I originally purchased the car about 12-13 years back. The seats are still in fine condition. -

The air compressor comparison had a huge response, I am actually gathering more compressors to do a second round of tests. I'm sure mods will follow, but for now I just want to get it back on the road and running / reliable again. I ran it for a number of years without a hickup, and I want it there again. It may take some time to get it done (I'm swamped as always) I also plan on adding a Subaru section to the site with write-ups. -
Hello all! I have just re-acquired a 1986 Brat. I purchased the Brat quite a few years back and loved it. When my sisters youngest son was ready for his first car he was in love with it also and I gave it to him. He however didnt take care of it and blew the engine. After the car sat for almost a year, my sister purchased a engine from some place in LA (Rising Sun or some such place) for him to install. He got it most of the way in and then quit. It then sat for another year nad a half. I purchased it back from him (for a large pizza) and its now in my driveway again.... this is where the questions start! Is there anything special I should do to the engine before we attempt to fire it after all this time? Already plan to oil it up and spin it by hand before we try to fire it, but didnt know if the Subaru engine wanted anything special. Parts.. where do you find them? I see from another post that I missed a free 84(?) brat that was close to me! Other than junkyards, do the dealers still carry parts? Tires. Are there any traction tires in the factory size? In the past we always ran Big-O tires because of the lifetime road hazard warranty. When we went off-roading we always cut the sideways up so this worked out well! Anyway, I will have plenty of questions in the future I'm sure but thats all I will throw out for now! Here are a few pictures of it before I cleaned it up. It had moss all over it and was very dirty! This was before I gave it away at Hollister Hills in Norcal, on an obstacle called the frame twister. No one there thought the Brat could make it through but it did!
