Seeing as how most of the original black paint has flaked off the Stainless side trim, I decided that a cleaner simple stainless line throughout the body would look better, not as gaudy with a massive amount of stainless, but I didn't want to paint it completely. Let the masking begin! Finished product. Other side will be done tomorrow.

Very possible. Now lets just hope none of the clutch packs crap out until a Manual is acquired. Although, I have fresh Amsoil ATF in it and the transmission was rather clean when I dropped the oil pan. I've never had an over-heat issue either.

I agree, I will probably change the lugs to black steel ones of some style (Closed ended) maybe I'll used these on the GL or just pass them on to someone with an Impreza. I'm going to try to avoid an EJ swap, I like the phase-I EJ22s but I still love the EA82. Maybe I can get the Cams reground for more torque, and yes a 5spd is going to be a must very soon. But at least it'll drive for now, Once it gets going, I don't see to many issues, the 3AT is strong in mine still.

Did the other side today. I no longer use the Line punch to make the first marks on the stud plate, it was a bit too tricky to make sure they were all centered. So instead I have been using a 13.5mm Bit in a hand drill (Which fits perfectly inside the lug hole on the template Landcruiser wheel I'm using) I then start to drill the areas which need to be marked, it bevels the metal and leaves a perfect centered starting point for the drill press. As you can see here! 13.5mm Drill bit. For the actual drilling, I use the 9/16" bit in the drill press. All holes drilled. Reused the Factory Studs since I had enough. All studs welded ad wire wheeled. And again, painted with Dupli-color truck bed coating. After putting the new Slotted rotor on I then put the wheel on which center cap and Alloy Lugs! Bigger and badder than ever!

Yep I have voted! I think I may just get some black steel lug nuts.

Got the Hardtop out of the yard yesterday since the weather is picking up and looks like the white stuff has ceased in the shadow of Spring! So I got the SSS badges on. Up next it to get the Pugs on it with some new rubber, and then start cleaning things up and restoring them, along with doing some well over due maintenance.

Got one hub 100% done, Holes are drilled to 9/16" as 13.5 is took small I found out. I also tacked the studs in place with the hub plate bolted down to a wheel to make sure the lugs are squared away. Primed it and painted it with Dupli-color truck bed coating (Awesome stuff!) Also got new 9.5" Slotted Rotors for the front today, so I was able to assemble everything today! 30x9.5x15 Kenda Klever MT. Can't say I am 100% sure on these Aluminum Lug nuts. They seem kinda scary for a 65lbs wheel. Anyone else ever ran Aluminum lug nuts? How it sits with a 4" lift. Now to get the 6" ADF lift on it!
-
Yes these also have the Hexagonal tool which is made of steal.

I may be able to get a D/R 5spd locally (Sometime lol) Just got the VMS Forged Aluminum Lug nuts today. Made out of A7075-T6 Forged Aluminum and Hard Anodized in Black and weigh about .08oz these are gonna hold the 82lb. wheels (Hopefully) Also got the tires mounted on the wheels, had to get hammer on weights cause they couldn't balance them enough with sticky weights. They were up to like 9.oz on one. So apparently Chinese rubber isn't manufactured very true. But they look badass!

I'll keep that in mind! I'm gonna swap it someday, just gotta get everything else done. All at once lol

I'm trying to get an early start since this winter seems to be never ending, and I only have till August to get the car done for the Subaru show. I want to have it all back together so I can actually show it off like it was intended. I could only wish for swapping the final drive on this car, or at least get a 5spd Lol! I seriously wonder how the 3AT is gonna handle these tires? Its been a great tranny and has worked with the 27s surprisingly well, I just hope its not gonna be too much for it and burn it up. One day I will swap to a manual and possibly smaller pinions.

The Kendas will be here tomorrow morning! Time to see how these 30s are gonna fit under the Roo.

Ben, tell you what. Let me get all mine done and we'll see how I feel, Maybe after another 3 I will be more confident to drill someone elses. When do you need them by? I am going to buy a different drill bit, I don't like the 9/16" as the studs literally turn by hand. I will need to find a metric bit on ebay a 13mm will probably be best. So yeah! if I can give you a hand I will give it a go.
-
Not really. I don't even wanna drill mine.
-
Yep, that is 100% what I'm going to do. I want to make sure they are as squared away as possible.

I ordered a full set of Kenda Klever MTs tonight 30x9.5x15! I also started with the redrill process. I marked and drilled the holes in one of the front plates, now I need to grind down the rear surface of the plate so the new studs sit flush. I may need to tack these studs in place as the 9/16" is just a little bit and does not hold them tight. I used my spare Landcruiser wheel to mark the new holes. I used a 3/8" Line punch/Prick Punch to mark the center point. Hubless! Now came the fun part, using a Milwaukee 9/16" Black Oxide bit I began making the first hole, I was using 85w-140 for a cutting oil to keep the bit cool and lubricated during drilling. All holes completed. As I said in the beginning, I will need to grind down the rear of the plate so the new studs can sit flush. I will also need to tack them in place to prevent them from spinning. The holes are not far off, camera angle and light are creating an effect. The holes are indeed slightly off, but I don't think it is anything to worry about. Next up I will need to drill the other plate and both new Brake drums.

Its usually sometime in July or September, whenever Shannon can get everything together. it is held at the Don Miller Subaru dealer on the west side of Madison. Its gotten better over the years, its always a good time though! Last year they had some guys from the Subaru rally team and a trailer with rally car. Trophies are to be hand as well! I will send ya some info about it when he posts it up. You can also contact Shannon Marcott on Facebook if needed, He is also on Dirtyimpreza.com Nice to see there is another clean old gen example running around WI, let alone SEWI! Cheers man!
-
So you gonna make an appearance at this years Don Miller in madison? Hang out with the few true old gen guys which remain in WI?

I agree with on the brush guard, it is meant for an F-350 body, and I wasn't keen on how wide it was. I was either thinking of unbolting them, and cutting maybe 3mm off and re-tapping the holes or like you said, just wrap them around the side. I will probably wrap them as it'll be easier, unless it cracks As for the Hardtop, yeah I can't wait for warmer weather to come so I can start with my real Subaru madness again! -10 with the Wind chill just isn't fun.

Yeah I heard mixed reviews of how much the nylon gears can take with no slipper clutch. I ain't gonna beat the hell out of it, but I do wanna open it up on a straight and see just what it can do

Brushless is in, I just need to get a Brushless ESC, a Metal gear steering servo, and a Receiver/box. I'll probably get it done, and take it out on a summer day and shoot a video.
