  1. If I remember right, on the bottom of each head, there will be 3 slashes/lines stating that they are the 3rd gen Turbo Heads.
  2. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/66-problems-maintenance/36330-2003-outback-wagon-h6-3-0-o2-sensor-location.html
  3. Make sure he keeps the Clutch pack and Duty-C from his original incase the AWD does not work in the replacement trans.
  4. I'm just going to use my original as its Electronic Vs. Analog like the First gen Legacys. Chances are, the Trans will come with it in the housing, all you have to do is plug it in.
  5. Better yet, to save you more money and the hassle of alignment. Push/Pull on the wheel as if you were trying to turn it (Left/Right). If you have no play in the wheel, you do not need Inner Rods, let alone outer rods.
  6. Moog is fine, but over priced. I bet you are spending $40 for a Rod end and $10 for the boot. Beck/Arnley is cheeper, still fine quality. Go to Carquest. O2 Sensor 1. is Pre Cat, O2 sensor 2. will be post cat. Save your self some money and headache, Go to carquest to order these. You will be looking at about $120 if not less. Or order everything from Rockauto which will be cheapest and choose your own part. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php
  7. A Head gasket can be done in a Day outside (You don't even need to pull the motor) Been there and done that. Being that this is a '96 Legacy, it still has the Phase-I EJ22 with Single Port Heads, These heads do not crack or warp from bad HGs unlike the Phase-II EJ22. I personally, would spend a few bucks for the Fel-Pro gasket kit, chances are they have Genuine HGs in the kit, And then just go to town one day. You are better off sticking a few bucks into a car that you have some idea as to whats wrong with it, then to buy another persons problem and sort that out. The Rubber smell could be something burning off the exhaust, possible Axle grease/bad boot, Might also be gear oil from an Axle stub seal since the cat is right there. My $.04
  8. Going to be getting spacers from a Dude here in Waukesha for $25, Awesome! Dude said he has seen my truck across from his Daughters School and wondered who's it was, then he PM'd me on ih8mud.com
  9. Lol... Yes, I am getting the 173,000 mile Trans outta that Red '96 Wagon, I dunno why Norm charges (He did not give me a defiant) But he said like $400 for an EJ22 motor, so I am thinking an Auto trans will be less then that. Fox, There is a '91-'92 Sedan out there with an Auto in it. Graham might be able to go after that.
  10. I saw one for sale in Milwaukee area a few months ago, It was like an '85 FJ60. It had been painted Light blue pearl Mica, had 24" chrome wheels and some janked up interior mods (What a waste of a Landcruiser) this is not a Pimp-mobile. Fox, Remember that Custom painted EA82 sedan a while back you looked at with the Painted bumpers body color. it was that same light blue metalflake color. Now we'll see if the Unconsionable ball breaker, Ben Goble, strolls in and complains I am talking about Toyotas in a Subaru forum.
  11. Yes about the rubber dounut, it pushes in from the outside of the firewall. And yes, you can disconnect the steering shaft from the U-joint under the brake booster (12mm bolt) then just pull on the column. Remember, there are also 3 10 or 12mm bolts holding the column to the dash (And electrical plugs) Be careful putting the column back in through the hole, the dounut likes to push out and becomes a hassel.
  12. This is what I plan on going after come spring time (Being that I can find one in the coming months) I'm just kinda getting out of Subarus, other then the EA82 chassis. I just find the the EA82 and probably All 80s Subarus are better then the EJs, problem being is finding rust free 80s Subarus in WI. 1987 FJ60, 4spd, 4.2 OHV Straight-6 2F.
  13. What would you pay for TW10, Comes with everything and will have a working transmission. I am thinking of listing it for $1,500 on CL come summer time in order to get into an FJ60. Does $1,500 sound to steep to a non Subaru person for a car that has 224,000? The car is always ready to go, besides this trans issue at the moment. Just seeing what ya'll would pay for this thing, knowing everything thats been done and added to it.
  14. Now this is what I am talking about!
  15. EA81 Hatch Swingback model. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUBARU-LEONE-SWING-BACK-1-18-MODEL-KIT-NICHIMO-JAPAN-/260936592650?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc1086d0a#ht_3071wt_936
  16. You can find them on Ebay pretty often. $20 http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUBARU-BRAT-TURBO-1-32-TOY-CAR-RARE-Vintage-70s-RED-/200705579955?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebafc1bb3#ht_1207wt_936 http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUBARU-BRAT-TURBO-1-32-TOY-CAR-RARE-Vintage-70s-CHROME-PURPLE-/200705577986?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebafc1402#ht_1214wt_936
