SPFI EA82 (Clearing Codes) ?
TheLoyale replied to TheLoyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Oh, theres a light on the ECU!? Would there be a reset button on it aswell? I should have looked at the extra ECU Fox has so I can get a real good look at the whole thing, rather then trying to cram my head under the dash Thanks Tom, I'll check that out today. And as for unplugging the battery, I tried that, doesn't clear it. Unless I have to leave it off longer? -
Just re-watched Cannonball run :)

There is a thread in the "Off-Topic" section which lists every Subaru spotting in TV or Movies. You'd be surprised how MANY Subarus are in Movies. There is a Loyale wagon in the "Truman Show" movie which climbs a sand dune. Check out the thread! -
Steering wheel change?
TheLoyale replied to Sam_Subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You will only be able to swap on another EA82 style wheel, as the Legacy or impreza have a larger or smaller shaft to bolt it to from what I remember. So you could use a Loyale wheel if you like it better. I know what you mean about the skinny GL style ones. But then again, look at the XT6 steering wheels LOL! -

I'm a bit fuzzy on the whole "Clearing Code" thing with the EA82. Do you plug both the White and Green connectors in under the hood and then run the car? From what I've read else where, you have to: With engine hot, plug in Both sets of connectors while engine is running. Then drive the car over 7mph. D-Check, Plug in Green connectors with engine hot and off. Then turn the key to "On" push peddle to the floor then up half way for 2-sec, release and start car and drive over 7mph. I don't understand this, I can't get the Engine light to do anything other then come on and off once in a while. I can not get it to flash to read the codes nor can I erase the codes. What am I doing wrong? The reason I have this light was a faulty O2 sensor which I replaced. -Tom

Ironic that the sled is about the same size as the Brat and has twice the horse power! Gotta love little trucks

No spacers for the rear doors, The front doors will need a spacer if you go with something deeper then 2.5" - These speakers have a 10oz. magnet aswell.

Eh, the guy who runs the place (Mike) always calls the EAs "Dinosaurs" and does ever do anything with them, thye mostly sit there wainting to be parted out. The under-sides of any of the cars are no good, so pulling anything off them thats under the car is pointless. I wouldn't bother trying to pull an Engine or trans from there, theres a few EA81s there with D/R trans. I think there are a few EA71s as well. As for EJs, he has a few EJs laying around and loads of parts for any engine. Your better off finding a donor car or someone selling an engine for your project. Cheers, -Tom PS: I have been out to Subaru Heaven about 4 times. -

Don't let him wongleflute you around if you buy anything. I'm only 20miles west of Milwaukee, I have only been as far north as Port Washinton (Between Milwaukee and Appleton) -

I thought all EA82s had both Electric and Clutch fans regardless of A/C or Non-A/C? Is the electric fan on a EA82 with A/C a secondary cooling fan, Or is it only for when the A/C is on and the extra load is on the engine?
-
Leaving off the Clutch Fan!? I'm sorry, but what is going to pull air through the Radiator with out the Clutch fan? Every vehicle needs a cooling fan, whether it being a Clutch fan that runs off the waterpump, or a electric fan which kicks in when needed. Since the EA82 has cooling issues as is, pulling a fan off it will not be a good idea, At least in my mind. Also, you are going to need to bolt the pulley back on anyhow, as you still need to run the V-belt for P/S and Alt. So why not just bolt the fan back onto the pump in the first place. -Tom

Temp sensor maybe?

Superu, No I couldn't use the plastic surround. The Speaker body was to large (Design is a little different then the Stock ones) so I just screwed them right to the door. I had to hammer up the hole lip aswell. And yea if I were to put these in the front, the window hits. Just goes to show EA82s are better Try looking at Pioneer, some of their speakers aren't as deep. I did everything Pioneer in my Loyale.

Put some $24 200w 3-ways in the rear doors. Sounds good for $24 Lol...
