Are we talking about EA82 cars? Cause from what I know, GL-10/GL/DL/Loyale all have clear coat standard. A lot of the West-cost guys post about it flaking off and seems to be a common thing. As for EA81s and older, yea I know theres no clear on those. Thats why if you don't keep it waxed it'll oxidize pretty quick.

Hmmm. Thats an idea (Thinking)

I do wonder how much it would cost to get just a hood repainted in 947? I need to get mine repainted badly, the clear is flaking off (As subaru clear seems to do) but its the only place on the car.

I like that, '86?

If you take it to a good body shop they will be able to match the color. There should also be a sticker on the strut tower or door jam with the 3# Paint code.

But I wouldn't want to convert my EA82 to electric - I like the sound of a good old Boxer. And I think that would take away from driving a Subaru. We will see, I don't think this is going to fly with to many car enthusiasts.- 70 replies

I gave you your answer in my first post. The stiffeners are screwed threw the roof with metal screws, and is also sealed with some type of sealant. If your car doesn't have the rails, you can make a small hole, get some short self tapping metal screws, and then just before you screw them in, put some Black RTV in the hole and then screw your rails on. No worries about leaks.
