  1. Yes sitting a lot can cause ticking, so the more you run it maybe any gunk thats making stuff stick will blow outta there. Don't be afraid to open it up on the highway. I always run 10w-40 in my Subarus, I don't see any problem with it. make sure you also use either a Wix, Purpolator or Genuine filter. DO NOT USE FRAM...! This has been gone over time after time Lol.
  2. From what I remember, they are all the same (Size/shape) few little changes light you said. But should pop right in. Be carful not to loose the E-clip that holds the lever cable to the box (Hard to fine one that works other then the proper one) Cheers, -Tom
  3. I haven't ever seen an EJ motor with a lifter tick that did not go away, I think the lifters in the EJs are a little more robust rather then the EA82s (GL/Loyale) Also, Subaru motors tend to like the thicker oil (Even in -0 weather)
  4. Before you change the oil, pour about 1/4 can of Seafoam right into the oil (Do not drain any oil out as the seafoam will waterdown the oil. Drive it around a little 20 miles or so, then drain the oil while warm and put fresh in, I run 10w-40. You can also use ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) in the oil which will also clean things. But you never want to leave MMO, Seafoam, or ATF in the oil. you will want to change it no longer then 200 miles (I would change it within 50 at most) but thats me. And no, Lifter ticking won't cause any damage. The lifter(s) might be worn and will always make noise as a lot of the EA82 owners know. Cheers.
  5. Very cool decals! If I can find some plain center caps for my steel pugs I will come to you for some "Subaru cap decals"
  6. Lifter ticking. Clogging oil passages on the Lifter bodies. Seems strange it goes away under acceleration, and doesn't happen while the engine is cold. Might be a sloppy lifter body, starts after the engine is hot cause the oil is thiner, and doesn't happen under acceleration cause the Oil pressure is higher (40psi) so its putting more pressure on the lifters keeping them from slapping. -Tom
  7. Hmm, thats strange. I bet you that whatever company that makes the Hitches for Draw-tite or Hidden are the same company. And U-haul is made by another company. I don't have a muffler anyway Lol. I will check out the others and make my choice. thanks
  8. I dunno..... These new engines are looking like its gonna be a PITA to fix unless you have a BHF Don't matter, by 2018 the U.S is going to push the emissions hard. They are gonna ban an older vehicles off the streets and give people some credits on buying a vehicle made within the past year or two. Our beloved Subarus will be gone. But I do find it hard that anyone in the U.S will go for this, what about classic car buffs and such? They are not gonna give up or alter their classic machines to meet Emissions requirements. It was yesterdays paper in the paper. I think its totally dumb. :-\
  9. Yeah I've seen videos of Clifford in action, Looks like it wants to go!
  10. An EA82 will turn those over pretty easy, so I don't see an EJ22 having to much issue.
  11. Thanks for your reply. Yea I'm going with the Bighorns when I get new tires.
  12. What is the purpose of your post in my thread?
  13. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No other parts house site lists the 25! WOW thank you Soooo much Jon! I am totally gonna order two of them when I get paid so they don't just so happen discontinue them. Again thank you!
  14. But finding axles in 25 spline is the hard part.. I guess A1 makes 25 spline axles, but are they good axles?
  15. Since this thread has popped up, How do you buy whole axles from EMPI? I looked at their 2010 online catalog and it only lists Inner or Outer joints. Also do they make 25 spline? All I see is 23 spline for M/T trannys.
  16. What year wagon? I know any of the EA82s are screwed with a sealant and same goes for the 1st and 2nd gen Legacy, Outbacks and Impreza wagons. If you get the screws with the rails, just drill a small pilot hole and thread the screw in. They are easy to remove and reinstall. Just use some clear RTV on the screw holes before screwing them back in. Cheers, -Tom
  17. I just run 10W-40 Castrol GTX and either Wix or Genuine filters on Trashwagon10 ('95 Legacy EJ22) I haven't had any issues running 10W-40 in the EJ. I run the same in the EA82. Fox used to run 15W-40 in his EA82s without any issues. -Tom
  18. Heres some pictures of a Lifted L Sedan. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=935989&postcount=11 And heres mine: Outback struts with Forester springs. Next to 2" lifted EA82 with 27" BFGs. Cheers.
  19. I am also looking into some JDM parts, Projector GT-B headlights, GT-B grille, some other goodness. But damn JDM parts are outrageous in price and then the shipping gets you on top of it.
  20. Check out 27" Maxxis Bighorns. Thats what I am going to go with for my EA82 and sometime my Legacy. Cheers, -Tom
  21. So whats next for TW10? Future Plans: -U-Haul Class-2 Trailer hitch 1-1/4" too bad its not a 2x2. -Some type of Baja lights on front bumper. -Anus Lights. -Duel CB Antennas. What else...?
