Mystery Wire! Mystery Oil Pressure!
TheLoyale replied to Sonicfrog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Glad the oil sensor issue is fixed. I would have changed to standard struts/coilovers aswell, much more simple in my book. -
Believe me, its much worse then these pics show. Theres a build up of oil, dirt, coolant, in nice gooie chunks on the outside of the block. Maybe use it as sandwich spread?

I see Miles got the pics imported off his camera? Bout time! Haha.

Mystery Wire! Mystery Oil Pressure!
TheLoyale replied to Sonicfrog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Oh, I didn't even think about the other sensor type. Yes that would be an issue So why did you remove the air suspension? Seals getting old? -
Mystery Wire! Mystery Oil Pressure!
TheLoyale replied to Sonicfrog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like a wire for the Oil Gauge is grounding out on something somewhere. Or something is putting a major draw on the electrical system when you turn to "Start" I had this same thing with my Tac gauge, something was putting a huge draw on the system (Starter selinoid was crapping out) so everytime you were to Crank the vehicle the Tac would jump way past redline and then back to 0 RPM untill the engine started. -Tom -
The Boomerang (Mountain Grizzly) Returns....

Sounds nifty, pics are a must! It is to bad you'll selling the '72. I love those old GMs. Is it a 3/4 or 1ton? Anyhoo, away from the offtopic. Hood pins eh? Cool. Sounds like an interesting DD build. -Tom -
I suppose not having a Y (Uneven headers) would give you a big lack in low-end, Plus it'd sound like a Honda :-p

Well since this is a Mud bogger, I wouldn't even worrie about te O2 sensor (Leave it out) its not like your gonna drive this on the road. I ran mine without an O2 sensor for a day (Long story) and it idles pretty good, it just runs a bit rich, but you ain't driving this on the road anyway so I don't see any reason to have an O2 sensor in it. Also, I see no need to run a Y-pipe. Just run one pipe off each head and bring it up thru the hood/engine bay like you said before. -Tom

Well remember when I said, "How about gently prying the intake up with a BJ fork" to see if it will slide off over that broken stud. Then use a clamp-on pliers to unscrew the bolt/stud. If we could do that with out damaging the gasket I mean. Cause then all you'd need to do if find another intake bolt, and you'd be a happy camper. Huh, now that you said water jacket that makes me wonder...? But most times when a Jacket go's it'll by-pass the oil system and go straight out the exhaust valve, from what I've been told and seen ('99 S-10 Blazer)

Technical Suspension Question (Serious Help)
TheLoyale replied to Kampfzentrum's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
The problem with King Springs is, they are an Australian company. So trying to find suppliers in the U.S is hard sometimes, Every site I have been to was either .au or .nz Here is a link with some part numbers just for the hell of it, scroll down to the Subaru page (16) King Spring Part Numbers, LOW, STD, RAISED Something to gander at for now -
Technical Suspension Question (Serious Help)
TheLoyale replied to Kampfzentrum's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Hmm, I've never really looked into King Springs. I know the Aussie guys run them alot. As for finding them around here, huh? I will check around with those part numbers tonight an see what I find. As for pulling your own struts, you can try the "Subaru Heaven" junkyard out in Cambridge, about 20 miles from Madison, Its on hy 16 and hy 12 (I've been there 3 times) He might have them on the shelf and might not want to much for 4 complete struts. If you want I have there phone number its: (608) 423-4307, Mike and Cindy Cutrano. you can also email them at SubaruHeaven@msn.com. OR, you can call up David Barthel. He is the main tech at the yard. His number is (608) 576-2036. and his email is The_Subaru_Guru@Yahoo.com Hope this helps. -
Technical Suspension Question (Serious Help)
TheLoyale replied to Kampfzentrum's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Damn, you know I've been searching for 2 hours last night using different keywords and whatnot and been to tons of sites and I can not find any place where you can by stock OE springs! All I keep seeing is STi Springs for late model imprezas. I would have thought that Rockauto would have springs, but guess not. Well your other two options would be to A. go to the dealer and see what they want for new springs. Or B. Go to a yard and pull some springs. I mean really, springs from a '99-'96 OB won't really be that worn, the stablizer its self might be crap, but the spring will hold up much better over the years. Hell the struts on my '92 EA82 are still fine, pushes the wheels to the ground. So its all up to which way you want to go, I am guessing that the dealer might want anywhere from $80 to $120 per spring. -Tom -
Yea I would re-check the Cam timing/timing belts, since you could be a tooth off. Also possibly run some Seafoam thru the air intake, whichever way you want, Down the carb, Thru the brake booster, thru a PCV hose, your choice. I ran 1/2 can Seafoam thru the booster and let the engine stall on it and then let it sit for 15-20min then re-fire it (It will blow alot of white smoke, due to the Seafoam being in the air system, but will all blow out in a few min of run time) And then see if this fixes your issue, if not - its still a good idea to clean out any carbon build up in the engine. -Tom

TheLoyale replied to Kampfzentrum's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Steve, Lol that is very true. I know you listened to everything that was said at these meets, I was just stating that you were already inforumed about such things. Plus I should have said the year of outback, but everytime I think of Outbacks I think of the 1st gen (96-99) Sorry I didn't make it clear on which moldel struts. Anyway, let me do some checking around at online stores and see if I can find some some 1st gen OB springs for ya. -Tom -

Technical Suspension Question (Serious Help)
TheLoyale replied to Kampfzentrum's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Gloyale, thats exactly what I said to him in person.. Steve, I would run the complete Outback strut as its longer with a custom longer tighter spring, to take up any slack. I said that about 4 times Lol.. Cheers, -Tom -

Ok, can you explain this a bit more? Do you keep the stock sealed headlights and do what to them? The bulbs are still 9004, yeah? Looking for some more info on this, and yes - I dug up a 3 year old thread. :-p -Tom
