+1 should be on the left strut tower inside the engine bay. yes 3 diget number. Thats a nice grey too! -Tom
-
Haahaaaa! Yeah it sounds like its going to be awesome, Can't wait to see it with the OB struts and the blocks from Bill. +1 on the Australin Subaru videos! I can't stop watching them, The Legos are pretty capable with a nice lift. Connie, are you gonna go with a more aggressive treaded tire? Something with a good side tread as well?

I know sum as to how an auto trannie works, enough to understand what you explained (So thats a start huh!) Thanks for helping me understand my trannie a little more, and giving me some info to how the 5spd locks into 4hi and 4lo.
-
Oh, I get it! yeaI think the 3AT is the same, cause I had to replace the Vaccum modulater a few months back (Sucking trannie fluid into the air intake) making for a smoke show! Now one question, what moves in the trannie to lock in 4WD? is it a gear that slids, or is it like a rear diff locker?
-
I can do a dounut fine, but its more of a 4WD drift/dounut. Which is fun! I thought I read in the owners book that in the On-demand 3AT EA82 dis-engauges when the vehicle is turned off. so nexted time you start the car its in 2WD. but I never it. I always dis-engauge the 4WD everytime I park anywhere. its only a push of a botton lol. btw Dude, did you get alot of snow in IA like we did in lower east WI? Waukesha were I live got about 1ft.

Hahaha theres an idea!! Taking the outer covers off is a joke, you have to remove the oil dip stick to take off the middel cover But all is good.. I want a logging road to drive on!!! (Drool) I want Mudd!! I want a dirty soob Hahaha.

Yeah thats right, S'ko has that Blue lifted Brat.. I forgot it has a EJ18. Thanks for the reminder..

Looks better with the new oil pump.. And I like driving more with new T-belts and Cam carriers seals (No worries) Thanks Dave! Pierman2, Your welcome!

What Pully and Adjuster? Crank pully and T-belt tensioners? If so I've got a pic that might help. Hope it helps, Tom

Wow, Nice project! I havn't seen alot of people on the board do a EJ sawp in a Brat IIRC? Gonna be awesome thoe. To bad about that guys sister's Legacy, Backed into a tree?? Hey, don't feel bad about not seeing any other Brats around your area Dave.. I don't seeANY older Subarus in lower east WI. I saw 2 other Loyale wagons and 1 sedan, But that was just a one time thing. All I see is 3rd gen Leggie/Outbacks and Foresters and alot of Imprezas, no GLs, Brats, etc.. Oh wait! I did see a 91-92' Justy 5 door a few weeks ago louder then hell Lol. Still anyway, Nice project. Hipe you get some funds soon to finish it up, I wanna see that thing with a EJ in her!! Best of luck, Tom

PS: If anyone on here has a Set (4 or 5) of these steel pugs that they are looking to sell sometime in the future please let me know. Cause I'd love to get these! Thanks, Tom

Can you grease the Steering knuckles on EA82?
TheLoyale replied to TheLoyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have determined that the small amount of play in the passenger wheel, Is caused by a bearing that is dry or going. Cause today on a smooth road I sweved the car back and forth a little and theres a noise that gets louder when you swerve right (Pulling the passenger side wheel out) and gets a little quieter when you sweve left (Pushing the passenger side wheel in) I always thoghut it was just the tires making the noise, But I think I'm worng. So the side bearings are prolly getting woren, Prolly like Miles said "Somehow dirt got in there contaminating the grease inside and making the grease crappy/dirty. Does anyone know of a good helpful link about replaceing/greaseing Front wheels bearings on an EA82. If so please post it. If not I'll look it up, No biggie Thanks again for the help everyone! -

Alright, I'll try that this weekend. Yeah the jack stand would be a good idea Lol Alright I'll keep all this in mind, The other thing that sucks about the S-10Blazers/pickups is that if a bearing is going you can't just replace the bearing, You gotta replace the whole hub How hard could wheel bearings be? If I can do cam carrier seals/orings, Timing blets and an oil pump. This can't be any harder Lol. But I know I can holler at ya if I need help. Least your closer now, Insted of being in Madison. Thanks guys -

Hmmm, ok. thats another thought. Well from what I saw when I laided under the car and moved the wheel a little, Looks like it might be a bearing, Cause the only thing that moves is the Rim/tire, As a bad bearing would do. So I dunno. If it gets more play in it then I'll worrie about it. But if it was a bearing wouldn't you hear it? I know when the the wheel bearing on my parents 99' Blazer (S-10) was going, you could hear it. BTW, When I hit surton bumps (Mostly going slow or stoping) I hear a clink clink sound once and a while, Like a tie rod would sound. I can't seem to find anything that looks wore, and when I yank on them they don't move, even when the car is off the gound. I'm not really that worried about it at the moment, I was just looking for some insight. Thanks again! -

Frank B, Hmmmm, Tie rod huh. Didn't think about that, Cause I pulled and tryed to move the tie rods and nothing. But I'll move the wheel "Left to Right" again and see what else I see. Miles, Yeah the little movment is "left to right" as if you were turning the wheel. A even move detailed way to describe it is, If you had your left hand on the rear part of the tire pushing towards the wheel well and your right Hand pulling towards you, That left to right play. Hope thats more clear then confuseing Lol. The play is just a little, I don't feel any slop while I'm driving, The steering is tight like it should be. I'll look at the tie rod(s) more clearly and see whats what. Numbchux, Yeah grease ain't gonna do much on a warn object Lol Thanks guys! I'll check it out tommorw. L8R -
Just wondering if you can grease the steering knuckles on the EA82, Cause my wagons got a small amount of (left to right) play in thr passenger wheel. You don't feel it in the steering wheel, but if you grab the wheel and try to move it left and right theres a little play/give. The drivers side isnt't like that. just wondering if theres a way to grease it, or is it just a solid non-greaseable deal? Thanks, Tom

Awhile ago I saw picture of a EA82 Sedan, I think it was a an RX. It had a Yakima roof basket and two lights on the ends, it was also a dark color (Maybe a green) I think it had 14" or 15" wheels but didn't have a lift. The picture was shot at someones house on the road, I really would like to see it again. So if anyone knows whos car I'm talking about or if the owner reads this please post a reply (Pictures are much obliged) Thanks, Tom

Yeah your right about not needing a gallon. It does really go along way!!! I just wasn't sure about it when I bought it (Didn't want to run out) I would still get a gallon of both the "METEL READY" and the "MARINE CLEAN" just to be safe. Thats only a few bucks. And yes you will want Gloves, goggels, and long sleeves. Forgot about that, good point bheinen74.
-
Where can you buy that type of primer? BTW Dude, POR-15 is great!! I bought a gal for my wheel wells and I got one coated with it and no more rust.. If you go with POR-15, You'll need to buy 1.gal of the "METEL READY" and a 1.gal of "MARINE CLEAN" it comes to about $140 for all, but it's well worth it! POR-15 site
