  1. I agree with this. I have gotten down to 20min to replace EA82 timing belts (if the covers are already removed) One thing to make sure of is, if you do replace the belts, leave all the covers off. They will take a 1 hour job down to 20min, as you don't have to remove the crank pulley, or belts in the future. Plus you can inspect the belt every time you check the oil, it also makes adjusting the tension much easier. Keep the old girl going! -Tom
  2. Also gotta figure out why its not real smooth when shifting now. 1 to 3 its kinda hard, no grinding (Other than 3rd) but you kinda got to muscle it into every gear (4th glides right in, almost effortless) For instance, shifting out of 2nd into 1st (At a stop) it doesn't wanna go in to easy, you just have to shove it in. ALSO, reverse grinds like a mofo. I know there is no syncro for reverse. But why does it grind this much? Grzzzzzzzzzzz.... *Pops in* (Supposed to say Grizz, but those damn emoticon wanted to pope up) I could understand a little grind, but its almost like I don't have the clutch in lol. Is this normal in a 28yr old Subie? I am planning on changing the front gear oil (All other fluids are fresh though out the car) gonna run some Lucus gear oil, maybe it just needs a good oil. Maybe I should put ATF in it like a Honda lol!
  3. Yep, the hill holder is hooked up (Dunno if it actually works) but it is acting as the return spring. The cable seems to be working a bit better, just had to man handle it last night while driving and its better than it was. We'll see how it goes.
  4. Lol! I was searching Google and I found a photo of my car, before I owned it! This photo was taken September 2011.
  5. I still don't like how it feels. Its rather stiff, and again it doesn't always follow your foot when letting it up, its laggy if you will. I think I may just go to the dealer tomorrow and order a genuine cable. Maybe it'll be normal :-p
  6. 27" tires will fit on a 2" lifted rig without too much trimming of the front fenders. Not the best pictures. As for a non lifted rig. You could run something like 25" overall diameter with out trimming.
  7. I think I just had it maladjusted, as my friction point was way to high, 3/4 the way up before it would grab. So I backed the adjusting nut off quite a bit and it drives like it used to. Lower friction point! GL also lays rubber! Didn't think it could. :-p
  8. Hmm, maybe its just kinked a little. Guess I'll tug on it in a few spots to make the bends a little smoother.
  9. I also have it adjusted so there is no play in the fork (Like I had before with the other cable)
  10. I put it back in the way the original came out. It routes under the heater core hoses and steering link, right?
  11. Got the cable hooked up. But its rather stiff. The reaction of the pedal depressing kinda sucks. I sound like a newbie, slipping the clutch lol. Gotta figure out why its not easy working. perhaps I should have poured oil down the cable before installation?
  12. Got a new Pioneer clutch cable from o'reillys. $19.97 with employee discount (Otherwise its $29.99) Put it in tonight, just have to attach it to the pedal and put the pedal back on the box and adjust cable, then it should be good to go!
  13. Indeed. Thats what I'm doing. Plus Jeff posted some pics of Butters, so that gives me a decent idea.
  14. Wow, the USMB has really gone down hill lately. Must be lots of "New" members who don't know anything. Where are the old school cats I used to know?
  15. If you wanted it, sure I'll give it to you for a few beans. Otherwise I'm just gonna hold onto it.
  16. Winter Action Plan: While the car sits in the garage this winter, I am planning on a complete suspension refresh. SJR 4" Kit New KYB GR-2 all around Possible King Springs New EMPI Axles New Moog Ball-Joints New Tophats
  17. So, I'm looking for pictures of 4" lifted rigs. Looking for pictures of the spaced down Radius rods and Rear suspension tube mostly. I want to see what these spacers look like so I can see about making them. Also, on a 4" lifted rig, how much drop is typical for the radius rods and rear tube? -Tom
  18. I will take photos of each ends as well (And where it failed) cause I have zero idea when the switch was made. I may go buy one from the dealer when I get paid (I'll go to Subaru City for better service) Too many things going on with this car and the others lol. I now need a cable for this one. Some dude on here still owns me $40 or a Fender (Which I don't really need now) I have a stash of parts sitting else where which was a trade. Bennie has L-series lights for me, some dude on ih8mud has an ATF cooler for my LC which he has to send me. Too many people, taking too long....! (Not a big deal, just have fun) :-p
  19. Good tip, I will also make sure to get the pin. Do you have the part number for yours?
  20. DAMN! I knew you'd snag that! Looks nice, is it aluminum?
  21. Are they the same style? They look a little different than mine. Mostly the Stopper (Which keeps the cables casing from moving looks different) Anyone ever used an aftermarket cable?
  22. YAY! My clutch cable broke last night and I had to pull the GL home with the Landcruiser. Now I have to see how much one from the dealer is.
