  1. Update: I am going to wire in Dual 12" thin mount electric fans which push 1720cfm per fan. I am going to utilize the factory thermo-swtich wiring, and run that to a relay which would be direct 12v with a 20amp inline fuse (As the factory fan wiring is only a 15amp fuse factory) Of course all wiring will be soldered and heat shrunk for a professional quality.
  2. Sorry for the delayed reply. Didn't notice the new post. As for the wheels. I got them from SummitRacing. These are the U.S Wheel Rock Crawlers. 15x7 6x139mm. The tires are Kenda Klever M/Ts 30x9.5" I got the tires off of eBay for about $550. Cheers!
  3. Here is a close up of the Trophy, won at FlatFEST '15 for best in class Pre-1990.
  4. Another great restoration on the USMB! Like KiwiGL said, don't give up. It is indeed coming out very nice! I, along with a lot of others on here would be keen to see her finally done. I know the feeling of having a tore apart rust project in the garage. Just can't give up. Cheers, -Tom
  5. Just rolled over 76,500 miles tonight. Also changed the the bulbs I put in the corner lights for the turn signals. I was running two 194s, which didn't draw enough to slow the relay down, and didn't put out enough noticeable light. SO! I changed the bulbs to 914s which are 17.9w. So there are two 914s per light for the turn signals and one 194 for the parking light. Now there is a very notable difference when the turn signal is turned on. It looks like a factory turn signal. I will take a video of them functioning later on. For now, here is a photo, for kicks. Also, I may be picking up some EA81 goodies from DBOZ in Appleton soon. Gotta snag the old gen stuff when its local!
  6. Hypothetically, if this car were to become for sale. Would there be any interest? I'd need about $2,300 to get out of it. Just entertaining the idea for now. Since I just dunno what to do with the car.
  7. Well, since the Hardtop is out of the way momentarily. I got a little bit of welding done on the Wagon. Basically buttoned up the lower was where the fuel lines run. It's coming.... Slowly, but surely.
  8. Went to the FL4T-FEST 2015 at Madison International Speedway this Saturday. Took 1st place in Best Vintage (I was the only Vintage there) So it wasn't really rewarding to win :/ But it was a good time and got lots of positive feedback from people there. There was a 360 Van there which was a survivor, but wasn't competing in the show as it was owned by Cheese Wheel, the charity organization which sponsored the Show. Heres a few pictures. That is xbeerds lifted '99 Legacy sedan in front of me. Trophy shots after the show. Next thing to be done to this rig, is to sort out the brakes and get them up to par.
  9. Freshly waxed and ready for the Subaru Show in 6hrs!
  10. I'll need to source a rear bumper for this thing sometime. Looking for a Chrome rear bumper with the solid end caps. Or the all black plastic bumper.
  11. So here are some updates with photos. $115.00 worth of Stainless M6, M8 and M10 hardware. Intake and Pitch stopper are painted with Grimmspeed Cherry Blossom Red, The rest is painted with Duple-Color Engine Enamel Pontiac Blue. Alternator bracket and pitch stopper bracket are painted with Rust-o-lium Carbon Black. Weber 32/36dgev is on, tuned and running flawlessly. Couldn't be happier with this carb! Not sure on the MPG yet, but it seems to be fairly high. Filled it up and drove it well over 50 miles with stopping and starting and getting it up to 75mph off and on. Fuel gauge is just off of full. I'm gonna guess about mid 20s, but will confirm after the next fill up. Stainless mirror hardware as well.
  12. Yeah I was debating on selling it and possibly getting a 90s Legacy, just for the sake of having a 3rd vehicle to drive in winter and such. But, I couldn't just give up this car, being old gens are hard enough to come by in Wisconsin, let alone a Hardtop. So I got the carb on and tuned and its working well! Today was the first real day I've driven it with the swap. Been trying to work out some bugs. I will take some photos and post some more info later
  13. Adaptor plates can be had on Webercarbsdirect.com for not too much. Its all genuine stuff too, not the cheep knock-off cr@p thats on eBay. So anyhow, I am working on getting the little details buttoned up on this before I put the carb on. Cleaned up the Alt bracket, Oil fill, Dip stick tube, Pitch stopper and bracket and am painting them all. Need to get some bolts and some hose clamps, then get the carb on and tuned. All before the Aug 1st. I am going to attempt to make it to the Madison Subaru Show (FL4TFEST) where this will be the only EA, let alone a Hardtop. Also ordered a new (Reman) starter off Rockauto. Should be here by Friday. Crunch time is on!
  14. Haven't gotten to that point yet.
  15. Picture time! Perfectly Machined Adaptor plate. Adaptor plate on. Now before I put the Carb on. I need to sand blast the Alternator bracket, get that painted and get some stainless bolts. I also need to get the Coolant bypass pipe back on (Already painted) Still need to blast the oil filler neck and get that painted along with the pitch stopper and bracket. Dipstick tube is already painted. Once all this is done and the car is running again, I will pull the Valve covers, Blast them and get them painted, install new cork gasket and grommets. If I ever get to the point of pulling the motor, I will then reseal the rear main and oil pan.
  16. Great news! I just got the Weber 32/36dgev (WK730) today! I ordered it from http://www.webercarbsdirect.com and I am just amazed! This is a night and day difference from the Weber I ordered from eBay (Which came in a Redline box) that I stuck on the Skiwagon. There is no rough castings, Adaptor plate is smooth and perfectly machined, Throttle plates work smoothly and close fully. It is just Outstanding! Maybe this time around I will have a good experience with a Weber swap. Pictures to come!
  17. This was the best Fastenal had in M8x1.25, I think their just standard grade 8 bolts (Shiny Silver coating)
  18. So got the intake cleaned up, and now Primed and Painted with Cherry Blossom Red. Intake is now fitted back on top of the motor with new bolts with Stainless Lock Washers. Still need to get onto a Weber (Probably from Redline or CarburetorsDirect) Gonna install a Holly Fuel Pressure Reg along side it and see what PSI to run it at (2.5 or 3psi)
  19. I made the EGR block off plate today and bolted it up and sealed it. Now is the time to prime and paint the intake! And then figure out the carb situation. I may just swap another (Already rebuilt Hitachi onto it for now) and then see if I want to go Weber later on. I kinda just want to get the car back and running again.
  20. Good range of statistics about the Weather/seasons around there. Our weather is really out of hand as of late, Climate change more or less. Out Winters have had more snow than usual these past few years, and the Summer temps seem to fluctuate and are either below or above average. It is very different from what I remember as a kid (Kinda like how in the 90s you could actually look at the sun, it was somewhat yellow. Now its just pure white) As for the whole restrictions thing, yeah its Dingo dung. Although, some other states in the U.S there are heavier enforced restrictions on what vehicles mods can be done and still be drivable on the Road ways. California has A LOT of restrictions (Mainly for the Tuner crowed) everyone wants to be like Johnny Tran There also seems to be more of a discrimination with vehicle mods aimed towards the the Impreza folks, they get fined for Loud exhausts, non U.S DOT license plate in the front, too low, so one and so forth. yet, My Loyale is louder, I have a Japanese plate on the front, and probably some other violations, yet the Police have never fined me for any of that. (I either get speeding or reckless driving tickets) Haha!
  21. Indeed Tom, indeed. It's real BS going on. I too have read some things about groups trying to make working on vehicles illegal. I know a lot of the Auto manufactures (Including Toyota) are trying to pass some bill which would make any work (Tuning done to any currant line vehicle) would be illegal (Unless done by a dealer mechanic) they are basically saying you may own the vehicle, but the software for the CPUs and such is only on lease and altering it in such a fashion (ECM tuning and remapping) is a crime. I find that seriously offensive. personally, whatever they stick in the vehicle before they send it off to a lot to be sold may be their property, but once an owner purchases the vehicle (Loan or in Full) it is 100% the owners property, not one person can tell me what I can and cannot do with my property (Apart from DOT regulations and such) which only keep you from driving the vehicle on the road, but they can't limit you on what you can do to the vehicle. Seriously, the world is going down the crapper in so many ways.
  22. Normally the city doesn't just drive around and see if people are in violation, there is a house like a block from here that looks like a junkyard, at least 3 vehicles are tore apart, motorcycles tore apart, the garage exploded (Can't shut the door) porch looks the same etc. No one says anything to them. My neighbor has become a real chode all of a sudden and keeps starting stuff with us. So thats why we're having the issues. If he didn't write an email to the city, no one would care. :/
  23. Yeah I know, pretty lame. But if you look at it, you may own the house and everything on the lot, but your only renting the lot from the city (Property Tax) Oh and, you can work on your car, but it has to be movable in 72hrs Lol.... So lame.
  24. Tom, its because my neighbor called the city on my for a violation (Can't have an inoperable vehicle in the driveway) so I slapped it back together and pushed it in the garage. Bennie, how much does the weather change in Aus in winter? I'm guessing its the rainy season?
