  1. I bought a M8x1.25 Heli-Coil kit at O-Really's today for $27. Comes with a Tap, The Coils and the coil insertion tool. My question is, once I chase the threads with the tap and in start screwing the Helicoil bit in, can I install two coil bits? Will the little tab on the bottom of the coil bend downward when I thread the actually bolt through? Cause they are kinda short, if I could use two, that would be awesome! Tips and tricks would be welcome
  2. Here is JesZeks weber swap write-up for the EA82. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74206 Here is another thread with pictures (Or what used to be pictures) I will PM Subieman and see if he can edit the post with currant picture links. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49931 Also, if you have any random questions about the swap, I know Shaun (1982gl4) recently did the Weber DGEV swap to his EA81 wagon. Cheers, -Tom
  3. I almost forgot to get you some links to helpful threads. Here is one that has a few tid-bits in it that might be helpful. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=131997&highlight=Weber+swap I want to say JesZek (Loyale 2.7 Turbo) did a write-up about swapping to a weber, but his uses the EA82 motor as the reference. Still pretty similar. I will do a little more searching and post what else I find, here for ya! -Tom
  4. Thanks for the link! That works! Agreed, I spend enough time on the computer, which is why I don't need nor want a Smart phone.
  5. 1-1/2 turns out, its like a Lawn mower
  6. Oh nice! Heavy springs might give a harsh ride with no added weight, so Slee to me when I ordered from them, but its a Truck, its supposed to ride hard Also, nice score with the Caster brackets! Thats the way to go IMO. 35x12" will fit, pretty much everyone runs 35s cause they fill it in very well and look proper on it. The 33s look so small on this thing, then you put the 33 next to a Subaru and its like OMFG! Half the door and fender would be gone to accommodate them I wish I went with 35s and 12 wide. The 10.5 wide just look a little odd, but probably handle better in winter. My trucked was like a tank, didn't slide much if at all. Stopping the ox was a different story at times. You have a good truck, I can't wait to see more of it!
  7. I wasted a pretty perfect day to finish up the welding on this buck'O rust today, but shortly ran out of wire! That would be 4 spools of .035 wire I've gone through so far. I think one more will do it I will also soon have rear disc brakes to install! And even better... I might be able to get the interior back in this next week!
  8. Awesome story behind it! I thought that was Turbone's XT6 at first glance, now I understand how and why Man, that thing does looks spot on and proper. I love the fade-away stripe at the bottom.
  9. Wow! That is cool. We need a show like this in WI! I would love to see some old Startlets and Lancers! please post more pictures of this show and the up coming one somewhere on the board...!
  10. This is 100% what I thought. As I was going to run White RX mirrors on the Loyale once, but noticed they didn't match the angle.
  11. Thats awesome! No worries on threadjack, not to many Landcruiser folks on here, except me and TheSubaruJunkie. I want to see pictures of that thing with the lift! It'll ride sooo much nicer for sure. I bet they gave you the J springs for the front? What is the part number? Also, if you are thinking of pressing those Yellow Caster bushings in, well, its a PITA so I've heard. A lot of dudes run Caster plates, which bolt on and are much easier. Seeing as you don't have to try and strap up the axle to keep it from swinging around. Although, mine seems to drive fine with no Caster bushings, so eh whatev!
  12. Indeed all those vac lines are scary! I hated it when I took the intake off mine. Which is why I am swapping to a Weber. There are some good threads on here with swap info and such. I'll post a few for you once I find them.
  13. I will support this. From what I have seen and been told, the 3-Doors have a slightly different rake to the windshield (Not as steep) and will not work, same goes for Mirrors.
  14. This kit will work, it is the same kit I am looking at for my '83 EA81. The carb you are getting with the kit is the Weber 32/36 DGEV (Electronic Choke) it comes with everything you need, throttle linkage, Adaptor plate/gasket, Threaded studs and 8mm nuts. Why it says it is not compatible is beyond me. Perhaps because your Brat it is a 1985, which is the year the EA82 body design came out, they didn't want to get the two motor platforms mixed up. Bottomline, this kit will work for your Hitachi EA81 motor. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330700425369?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_3551wt_958 Here is a picture of this carb, installed on an EA81 motor.
  15. FWD is where its at for Maximum MPG! Dude could get 30+ with this thing, driven correctly. I love the Black interior bits on these '85-'86 cars, although some also had Brown.
  16. That should be in a museum, it looks showroom clean! Very nice, very nice!
  17. These will work, but you will need a 2 or 3" lift, and some trimming. They have an overall diameter or 28", but is probably closer to 27.4" - as the specs are never accurate and every manufacture will differ slightly. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=All-Terrain+T%2FA+KO&sidewall=Raised%20White%20Letters&partnum=17R6ATAKORWLV2&tab=Sizes These will also work, they have an Overall Diameter of 27", and are closer to 26.7" IIRC. They are also cheaper then the BFGs. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=Grabber+AT+2&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=165TR6GRAT2&tab=Sizes My 27x8.5 Grabber AT2 is listed as a 27" tire, but is about 26.5" (Tad shorter then the Bighorns)
  18. Its called, being a rebellious 20 something by breaking state law
  19. Installed the Man-A-Free 25mm spacers in the front, to level out the stance. Subaru wheel vs Toyota wheel.
  20. That looks real nice! Does it still have the 2F Straight-6 in it? A lot of people drop 350 Chevys in them (Which I'm not a fan of) lol.
  21. Depends what part of the country you are in. I have seen 3 GT sedans in the local junkyards, and countless Sedans and Wagons on the road, they are fairly common here. I personally like the 16" Outback alloys myself, look great on a '95 Outback!
  22. Wow, that is clean! Looks nice man, I see you even have the optional rear dust deflector. The running boards will be the death of the Rockers, plus you'll gain GC without them (If thats what your after) Good call on repainting the wiper arms black! As for your rear marker light, both of mine were broke (Along with the Tail lights) so I swap the side lights out for these: They are sealed LED units, and are almost identical to the stock ones in size, they are just a little thicker. Super bright and work great, got them at a truck stop for like $6/each Might be a good and cheaper option. people on ih8mud.com ask way to much for their stuff most of the time. And ebay does not carry these marker lights (FJ60 style only) Anyway, nice truck! Make sure you grease all the Zerks on the driveshaft(s) and grease the Birfields through the plug on each hub. You want 3% Moly grease for those, and standard grease for the driveshafts.
