  1. I believe you're onto something with Timing gear vs Timing belt. Perhaps this is why the motor feels less laggy when revved. Interesting.
  2. This is now the official write-up in the USRM. Please, no posting in this thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=132536
  3. Wilcox, Here are some wheels similar to what your looking at. The backspacing on these look fairly close as well. Although, he re-drilled the the wheels to 4x140 vs drilling the hubs to 6x139.
  4. Also another, which is running 14" Mazda wheels. As you can see, the Backspacing is again, very close.
  5. Indeed it was intended to be. But in all seriousness, here are a few Subarus running 6 lug hubs. As I said before, Toyota uses a pretty close to stock backspacing. These are 15x7" alloys found on 4-Runner/Hilux/FJ80 This one has 15" Nissan wheels. And this one, I have no info on the wheels, nor tires, other then the rubber is 32"
  6. You would think so, but I'm sure a 4EAT 4.11 Legacy vs a 4spd 3.900 EA81 wagon would be about the same (Power to Weight) I was shocked when I drove this car for the first time, the amount of power I had even with a slipping clutch. Maybe I'm used to the 3AT EA82, but this thing has more throttle then the EA82 it seems (Even free revving) Full throttle on an EA82 seems less then Full throttle on the EA81, why? Weird.
  7. There we go! Misinterpretation of what each of us were saying at its finest. Personally, I want the contact patch of a Bicycle, with the width of a 10.5" tire. (Ballon effect?) Hahaha
  8. My understanding is, if you have a tire with a higher profile number (75) the sidewall will bulge out more (Making it wider) if you run a (70) the sidewall has less bulge and is more square (As you said) making it a fraction narrower. I notice tires with higher profile numbers have more sidewall bulge, and less tread width, then a lower profile numbered tire, where the sidewall and tread width are pretty much the same.
  9. My goal for this car is to make it handle like my Legacy did. I had Outback KYBs with Forester struts on it, so it was stiff, yet forgiving, I then had 225/60/16 Potenzas on it, it handled like a Track car, and I drove it as such. I enjoyed the hard compound tires I had on that car, took 20mph curves at 50mph, slid it sideways in the rain (Jboymechanic was in the car) So the ski wagon, will get the same make over handling wise.
  10. Very true. When the Profile number goes up (55, 60, 65, 75 ect..) so does the width.
  11. The tires will work just fine on the wheels. Its the point of the tires rubbing on the struts. The widest I can run a '95 Outback were 225/60/16s (I had about 1/4" between the sidewall and the strut body) Keep that in mind. This Brat has 16x6 6x139 wheels, with 205/45/16 tires. Pretty wide... This is the setup I am going to run.
  12. Indeed it will probably cost about the same, cause once you start buying bolts, nuts and washers, you already into $30. Plus whatever the steel runs you, then the time it takes to weld up and drill. I think this was a good route! One Eye is a good guy!
  13. Yes, hell yes. The 13s are alright, but I'd prefer 16 with some 205/45s
  14. Wow, that fits perfect. I like the vintage photo style too! Right on dude, right on!
  15. Damn! I really wish I thought of that first, I don't want to be a copy cat 15" Outback/Legacy Turbo wheels on on ur Brat! Nice.
  16. Rising Sun! WOW. Why didn't I think of that! Awesome.
  17. Yep. Best thing to do is see who has run whichever wheel, for a "view on car" approach.
  18. The pugs in fact stick stick out a little more then stock, they are a wider rim to begin with and then the wide mud tires. Peugeot wheels are pretty close, even in the 15" alloy form. The tailer wheels I'm looking at should also be pretty close to stock so I've seen. Toyota Wheels are pretty close too, which is why people run them.
  19. I have two of those Brats. They can be had for $25ish on ebay as well. Keep looking.
  20. Will do, so far, I haven't :-\ I really don't feel like spending $50, but mine is leaking pretty good while running. Anyway, Can I get a rebuild kit for the Hitachi DCP306-21 303? I also repainted my spare wheel I picked up.
  21. I never knew the first gen lego and EA82 had the same cap thread! That's cool t know.
