  1. Started my EA81 for the first time in almost 3 months! Fired right up and went to redline (Whoops, throttle cable got stuck) Now for the rest of the car!
  2. Why not? Mine came out. My car looked worse then yours I think? I wonder if the motor is running off whats left in the float bowl? Maybe this is why it doesn't run very smooth. I'm gonna seafoam it once I get a new rad where I can let it run longer then 30min. New pics later tonight. I need to run some brake line, and wait on rear discs from Subruise (Axle nut was bustin' his balls so I heard lol)
  3. EA81 fires right up and runs! No leaks other then my Rad pissing like a horse. It also redlined when I first started it, Throttle cable came off its track and got stuck half open (Whoops) Seems to rev down slow? Is this normal for a carb motor?
  4. I am using Wire wheel with 3000rpm HD drill, Permatex Rust Converter, High-Solids Enamel. POR-15 is garbage and not worth the money so I've found. I can buy all of the predeceasing for less then it costs for a Qt. of POR.
  5. Will do. The pan and oil sender seems to be leaking as well, Although it could all be coming from one source.
  6. My main question was, if oil is dripping out of where the Head/block mate, is this a failed HG?
  7. Why do I have an oil drip from the passenger side Head? Where the head meets the Block.
  8. So in a sense, its like Cast iron, Strong, yet brittle. As for Fastenal, I should check that out as well! I have one just down the road from me. Some of their stuff is kinda pricey, but it does cost less once you buy in balk. Thank you for the thought!
  9. That might be an idea. I'm not 100% sure as to everything I need, I'm just kinda swapping as I go. Pretty much any bolt that doesn't take serious load, is getting replaced with Stainless. I've always been told Stainless has a lower fatigue rating, but the Know all Hardware guy who owns our local Ace, says it is stronger then standard steel bolts. I trust this guy, he has been in Hardware for 50+ years. My family has been going to him since the 1960s and has never steered us wrong. So does stainless have a lower load/stress rating? There does seem to be mixed views on this. Jboymechanic told me it was weaker, yet his dad told me it was stronger, and now the Art Olson at Ace said the same. Hmmm.
  10. I got the fuel tank almost full hooked up, I just need a few more hose clamps and to run the rest of the line into the cabin and connect it. I already connected the Vapor line, next will be the Return and Feeder line. And then see if it starts and does not leak!
  11. The '93 will have the 1FZ 4.5L and better milage along with the AF442 transmission (aka Bus Transmission), you can swap rear discs onto them as well, which is what I'm gonna do in time. The '93 does not have High pinion axles, unlike mine which does. Personally, I think the Landcruiser drives better then my EA82. Sure brakes better even with the 33s. Its also so much nicer to drive and has more power, just wish it got better then 10mpg I personally am not a fan of the 1FZ-FE 4.5 motor, they tend to Blow HGs a lot, and they have more BS on them. The 3F-E 4.0 is simpler (Even being 80s EFI) the motor is bullet proof, it will out last the entire truck (Much like an EA81) The AF440 transmission is very forgiving and long lasting, it is only a 4spd with no overdrive. The '92 will have 4.10 gears and will run at 2000rpm at 70mph and has no trouble getting there nor staying there. If you aren't afraid of Fuel costs, the Landcruiser is a must own truck. I absolutely love it. Check out ih8mud.com and read up on the 80-series, pros/cons and what to look for.
  12. As for the hole question, it should be just fine, unless there is another stamping there which you can knock out. "Subarus are like Legos, you can build them any way you want"
  13. $12.95 for a Russian Bride? Now just to get her legal in the U.S!
  14. No, I'm good. its only for looks and the whole engine bay it ugly at the moment lol.
  15. Lol, Overnight from WA would be like $150+ Nope, something else
  16. I just got some secret goodness in the mail today.
  17. Why nobody ever looks at the Subarus of the 80's page is beyond me. So much useful info on there. Sure helped me when I first joined.
  18. Indeed, plus is really clean and cool! May not be as quick as the TR6, but its has a factor about it.
  19. Good stuff. Permatex also makes a very good rust treatment/reformer. Probably the best I've used and is only $4-5 each. You brush it on, it is a white paste. Drys clear and tubes rust black and smooth (Solid as well) It seals up rest awesomely. I used it on the rear tube and every where on the EA82 and the EA81. You're doing a good job so far!
  20. Thats how I always do it, simple means. It does indeed take forever lol. Try de-rusting your suspension tube that way
  21. Those wheel wells look great! Please tell me you did remove any rust in them before coating it with Undercoating? If not, the Undecoating will hold moister and the rust will continue behind it (Which is also the down fall of the Factory/dealer applied undercoating) Nice EA81 emblem!
