The oil pressure issue's on the first motor, was they forgot the seal for the oil pickup. The second motor was an issue with the oil pump that they sent with the motor.

Make sure that your valves are adjusted right. CCR had me adjust my valves tighter than stock, so make sure that you find the gap for your motor. Call CCR. my valves clattered and it had a hard time starting until I had that gap. I also had the no oil pressure issue on two of my CCR motors, but we finally worked it out and the motor is good. Stock: Intake: .010 in. Exhaust: .014 in. CCR: Intake: .008 in. Exhaust: .012 in.

I just drilled throught the rear, cut off some round stock and ran a bolt for my bottom attachements.

I purchased front hoses for my 79 brat at rockauto.com I dont remember how much they were. I think they only had 3 of the 4 in stock, but since I had the part number I was able to special order the other one from my local parts store.

I dont think that the shop person was supposed to tell me and my wife that they put the wrong parts in and missed some, but they did. I brought up the old pistons because the next motor came with new ones. Also, like I said they have been working with me, they paid for the shipping, but all of the labor I have had to suck up, along with the extra labor of checking and re-checking things that they ask me to check, and to rent the manual gauge from a shop because I couldn't find one with metric threads. The company, from what I heard before I bought, builds great motors, and they have good customer service so far, but we will see about the final outcome. I don't know what the problem with these motors are, and they also don't know, but two motors with the same internal problems is really getting on my nervs. I have over 8500 dollars into my 83 brat and I can't even drive it. It has been down for two months. All that I am saying is if I knew that I was going to have these problems I would have built it myself. I only responded because a fellow member was asking for some help, If I wouldn't of saw the post I wouldn't have written anything. And if anybody wants to ask, I am now on my 13th subaru, and yes I do know my fare share about subarus. I only bought from CCR because of the good rep. and the warrenty.

You can say what you want to about the person with the CCR complaints and you will probably say some about me. First CCR EA-81 motor no oil pressure wrong valves, old pistons, bad valve seals, missing seal for oil pickup. Second EA-81 after sending other back -NO OIL PRESSURE- problems are internal, ran other oil pump, oil sending unit, gauge pack, and manual gauge, so it is not on my side. Only bought because of the 3year 36,000 mile warrenty. Just want my money and my core back, they want to send me another motor Do what you want to do. Still working on my bad purchase. They have worked with me so far, just waiting to see the final outcome.

Please help? Got ripped off on ebay!
CAS83Brumby replied to GwyNative's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I didn't read through all of the posts so I am sorry if somebody has said this, I would almost bet on the sound being the throw-out bearing since he can still hear it with the hood open, standing outside the car with it running. Not everybody is smart enough to replace it when they put in a clutch. Nice Brat wish mine looked that good when I got it, and yes you did get a deal, at least where im from. -
It is probably just your hub since it went away when you tightened the nut, had the same thing happen to me on a 80 hatch that I used to have it was on the front so I just replaced the hub and there were no problems with the bearings. You might need a new axle also. don't ruin a new hub with a bad axle.

Break extensions and longer shocks help
CAS83Brumby replied to nathan_d's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I am not sure about shocks you might want to check les schwab if you have one around your area they have a bunch of non specific shocks at different shaft lengths. I raised my brat 4 inch's and I went to the local west bay which you may know as parts plus, I took my brat brake lines in and was able to match them up with ones in their books, they have many different lengths. hope this helps. -
Weird "harmonic" vibration in '80 Brat
CAS83Brumby replied to bratgrl's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Had the same thing happen on my 79 brat, also on my datsun, also on my toyota, and it was always the u-joints on my driveline, I would have them replaced. Hope this helps. on my 79 it was $90 installed at west bay or you might know it as parts plus.
