  3. ok as some of you know. i have 1998 outback 5 speed. if i were to keep it and modify it. how hard is it to change it to a 6 speed ? just a simple change ? (also rear diff matching) what are the benefits of a 6th gear ? is it worth the change ?

  5. my timing belts are fine. the hood is there just not on. only the engine block plus the internals are there. i found out who owned it and gonna try to get a hold of him to see if he'll get rid of it. i want to buy it for the good parts that are on it. Less than 5 miles away from me.

  9. Title is taking Forever to get here. had local notary check on it, still not in my name. would have been faster if i did it electronically. i will do it electronically from now on. _______________ my ideal car is a 6 cylinder 6 speed Wagon from subaru does one exist ? or do we have to make one ?
  10. i have no idea, i might just get the closest matching paint i can get. EDIT: E-Brake doesn't work because the pads are SHOT. struggled to remove the rear disc brake because the e brake was holding it, the e brake is maxed out and cant hold the outback, after removing the disc brake the pads just snapped when i touched one and bare metal is showing. so i gotta get new Park brake shoes. i do not look forward to changing them, pain in the butt to do. probably why the previous owner didn't do it. and roughly $40 for the pair
  11. Today i drove the outback 24 miles, temp never even touched half. i also cleaned up the previous bondo, grined most if it away and filled it in with putty and sanded. yet to get primer and paint. Pictures:

  14. i'm willing to trade this outback off for an SVX Prefer:5 speed or 4.44 swap but a good stock trans one will do. Must: gray / black interior dont have to get rid of it, but just in case anyone wants to trade their svx, i'd love to

  16. washed the engine 2x times, once with garden hose and 2nd time with a 1500 PSI pressure washer. need to do round 3 but with engine cleaner. cleaned up good for just 2 rounds with out cleaner
  17. i dunno, no didn't smell hot and wasn't hot at all. my guess is they spilled something on the engine?
  18. ran the outback today, well sitting. decided o hold the engine at 3k and a weird smell came threw the vents :-\ kinda reminded me if Chicken Oodles of Noodles (ramen noodles) what the ? any idea what could cause that smell ? that is to weird for me, i had ask you guys.
  19. ok i will check into that. 1324, i already bought another taillight.
  20. Fast Turn signal is fixed, well temporary. i sanded the socket very corroded, sanded the nipples on the bulb also corroded, put it back in and still blinked fast ! the bulb its self is going bad, the glass dome turns in its casing AH HA ! i got the bulb to have a good connection and bingo! blinked normally. i will have to replace that bulb. as i think it will not last to much longer. also i checked the fuses for the rear wiper and they are good. is their a fuse on the motor some where ? if not it must be the motor its self is done. electrical issues challenges me so,....:-\
  21. i once worked at a perpetual powder co, i got a set done for nothing, i wish i could get back in that job but they refuse me. it is expensive, yes.
  22. nah, i'd just paint over them. or keep them they way they are.
