  1. The web site says it can be sprayed. But my question is, does it stick well to paint? I don't want to paint over the Rust Bullet, I want to put rust bullet over my paint. I haver almost no rust on my car (CO), I want to keep it that way. I think I'll start a thread.
  2. Hey Bucky92, I have a question about Rust Bullet. Have you used it over paint? Their website says it works best on bare metal, but I am not about to sand down my entire car for this stuff. I'm moving from CO to MN in about a year and I need some rust protector. I plan on doing the whole car with the stuff and I don't want it coming off. Also, have you used it w/o painting over it? Is it good to go with the UV stuff? Sorry for the hijack.
  3. does anyone have an extra working TPS they are willing to part with? I know this is the wrong place to ask, but I don't think anyone looks at the wanted area and I know at least one of you has one! p.s. I already posted on the parts wanted area a week ago and I got 0 replies.
  4. Check for codes. They might tell you exactly what you need to know.
  5. I guess my wagon will do a solid 160.
  6. You might want to check to see if your car has the factory recall pcv valve "fix" done to it. If not, like mine, that could be the problem. I made my own version of the fix, along with a catch can and filter. You should also make sure your pcv valve is of the OEM type (not FRAM) and working properly. Also do a decarbonization of the cylinders. I fought this same problem for months before it finally went away. It took me doing all these things, but it's worth it. Don't retard the timing; just a couple of degrees takes a quite noticable amount of power away which you probably can't afford.
  7. I run 225/75R14's on my Loyale (26.8") and it's an easy-to-calcuate 10% slow on the speedo. It was 2.5-5% fast from the factory, which means that I don't really have 148,000 on the clock. It's closer to 141,000:banana: WHEEEEEEEE!
  8. I used to have a 65 Malibu with 283. I rebuilt it with a 206/214 cam, Holley 600 carb, Edelbrock Performer Intake, and performance everything else in or on the motor. I couldn't have been happier with the performance boost. It was still reliable, got decent mileage (18-20 w/o overdrive), and I could rev it up to 6500 RPM no problem. What good is a worn out 283 in the corner of the garage anyway? I say use it.
  9. I just put in my new GCK axles and I now have a shaking, felt under my feet, during acceleration. It only happens at slow speeds and only under load. It was silky smooth before I replaced the axles. Anyway, I've read around and found that it may be the engine/tranny mounts. How do I check them, and would I feel the vibration under my feet? Could I have somehow put them in wrong? There are no weird noises or anything lock to lock. I also heard bad DOJ, but doesn't that happen when decelerating? While doing my lock to lock test, I heard a very small pop, and then the shaking subsided a little. Could it just be that my axles are new and need to be broken in? This was my first axle job in a FWD (4WD) car so I don't know what I'm doing exactly, but the replacement went quite well and I was surprised at the vibration. By the way, this is a 91 Loyale with a D/R 5 speed, a lift, and EA82 SPFI.
  10. Have I seen that sweet machine at Red Rocks (college)? I'm totally diggin those lights. My loyale would look sweet with something like that.
  11. Epoxy-based primer WILL keep the rust out for quite a while, sometimes years. But there are two things to remember; 1) You have to grind away ALL of the rust before you apply the primer. 2) It is a 2 part primer and it has to be sprayed with a spray gun. That being said, go with the POR15 if you want a finish that is tough, easy to apply, easy to prep, and good looking. They also make it in different colors, and some types are not UV resistant and will break down in the sun.
  12. Your Loyale should have a 3.9 setup. All you need is the tranny, linkage, and trim. Just bolt it in. That's all. Your single range will do just fine on the road with big tires. If you want to go off road, you WILL need dual range. Even then it's weak. Just make sure you get a 3.9 d/r. If you want to check to see if your car has 3.9, it's written clearly on your rear diff, and it's easy access. Just get on your knees and look under there.
  13. My throttle body ticks... rather loudly (I think anyway). Is this normal? I also get crappy mileage (about 240 or so per 12 gal), although this could be because it's cold out and most of my trips are 5 miles or less and the car doesn't warm up properly. It also has 27 inch tires, which doesn't help either. But I wonder if the ticking and the bad mileage are related. I have a d/r 5 speed, spfi, ea82, with a tps code.
  14. I would look into the General grabber at2 if I were you. They are an inexpensive BFG AT copy, and I've heard that they're better than the BFG's. They didn't have them in my size so i got Firestone Destination AT's. They are a good all around tire but probably pale in comparison to Swampers offroad.
  15. WHAT THE!? It looks like you made the car out of old random junkyard cars. Sort of like that Johnny Cash song: I got it one piece at a time, and it didn't cost me a dime... I like it.
  16. Get adapter washers; you can use stock lugs.
  17. Suwheat! Bucky92, you say that every time a wagon gets lifted. When are you gonna just do it? I've heard about some of the wrenchin you've done and you're fully capable. You wont regret it... I didn't!
  18. Didn't you read the thread? I have them in my Loyale and they sound really good. Far better than 6x9 boxes ever could, believe me I've had those in my boat with Cerwin Vega 3 ways and they sounded terrible. I now have ************ey Sony 3 ways (and a crappy Sony head unit) and they sound much better than the Cerwins did. You need more volume in the box than a 6x9 box can offer. Plus, hatch mounted speakers don't take up luggage space and they don't bouce around. My struts suck too, I use an old gasket scraper to prop up my hatch; it will work fine until I get new struts. You could even use a stick off of the ground...I did for a while.
  19. I have done that. It works well with few mods. Look up posts by me and you will find it. Was it you that asked about doing this the first time?
