  1. Bummer, I will be coming out of the Eagle Cap wilderness that day, but I will be there in spirit. :-\
  2. NOT if you have a properly built lift. Mine is a six inch lift and my camber is spot on, as per my buddy who verified it on his alignment machine at his shop.
  3. Hey I got a complete 3rd eye system for sale if you interested. Your post count is not high enough for Pm's yet so just repspond through here. Heres the link....price is negotiable.

    Parting Shots

Well folks, The day has come where I am selling the wagon. So I took some parting shots for the CL add and thought I would share them here as well.
  5. 2 x 2 in square tubing. with the push bar following the lines of the head lights. Big bolts and washers that go all the way through the body via the stock mounting holes. D-rings tripple pass welded...I know, that you know, that I know, these suckers hold Skid plate bolted to the bumper then bolts to the tranny cross member. Rear same but used angle iron to make a bracket to tie into the stock hole locations. And then made a bracket that has a plate welded to the bottom of it (flat bar side by side then a plate on the top) which ties into the tie down holes. Front: Rear:
  6. Looks good. I am planing on doing something like this to mine as well. But I think the parts BRAT has the full frame set up allready. If not I like your idea. Though I will change a few things about it. P.S. Did you ever get what was wrong with it figured out. Distributer?
  7. Hey every one, not sure where to post this, but I figured here would get the most attention (along with like post for different state...coming soon) Any way I have a friend that brings me her 97 IMP to work on, and she is now moving to Columbus Ohio for school. I told her I would do a post to see if there is anybody out there that knows of a shop or is willing to to work on her car while she is down there. I expect her to get treated with the same quality of work as I do, which is why I am posting here. Most of us do very good quality work. But if your a wire nut and duct tape kind of guy don't even bother Thanks in advance Mugs
  8. DOUGIE FRESH You have exceeded your PM storage space and can not get any more. I sent you a PM about the rims. Clear up some space man.

  9. My Friends box at work. The box cost him 25K about ten years ago. Yes its full, Yes he uses it all. He has been a mechanic where I work for 25 years. My Box. And its stuffed and I need a bigger one. This is about 3 solid years of tool buying. The Top Drawer: Second Drawer (same size) : Wrench Drawer: You get the point, and can see how one should keep there tools. But notice how it appears to be sitting inside a home owners garage in a corner THATS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN OUT OF A JOB FOR A YEAR BECAUSE OF THE ECONOMY GOOD LUCK WRENCHIN AND MAKIN A LIVIN BUDDY:rolleyes: Its hard life and way to earn money, so don't forget to take off the rose colored glasses before making too much of a hasty desicion.
  10. Actually he bought his own BRAT for a hundred bucks. So Problem solved. It needs alot of work but it is all there and he has two years before he even gets his license so I think it will work out fine. So now I can keep "mine" and he can have his.
  11. Like most have said, when it comes to making money working on cars never ever go cheap. There is (and I pride miyself on saying this) not one crapsman tool in my box at all. IT is all Snap on, Mac, and Matco with some S&K. as far as buying tools, you will see that one may make a better of something then the other, or one rep may be more you personality style or you get along with better. So do your homework and then buy. I always check all three truck for what it was that I wnated then mae the purchase next week. Unless it was something I was eying for a long time off a particular truck then I just went and bought it. At the dealership I really liked the Snap on guy, but when I went to a smaller independant shop the Mac guy was better so I mostly went with him. Some tools however I only buy in one brand. Like wrenches I only buy Snap on Flank Drive wrenches. Sockets I prefer Mac edge, Impact swivel I like Matco. air tools Mac, plyers and such it can be who ever. You get the point. Also check you pawn shops. Her we have a pawn shop that is only a tool pawn shop, and only deals with the higher end line of tools. that may be a way to build up a set on a very limited budget.
  12. It needs to be a fusable link, if not then you will fry something else.
  13. Welcome you have afound a great place with a ton of info. Curent subies on the roster: 84 BRAT 86 BRAT 85 GL Wagon: EJ22 conversion, 6 in lift, 4 wheel disc brakes, pwr steering, 5 spd D/R, 15 in drilled rims w/29 in tires FOR SALE 96 Lego wagon
  14. Glad to hear you got it running. Give the lifters time to pump up. It usually takes few times of running and then letting them sit and then run them again. The noise wil go away.
  15. I breifly have read through this. The cams can be on the mark but the crank off. There is two timing marks on the crank. one for TDC and one for timing. You need to check and see if you have an arrow or a slot on the crank alignment mark with the engine block. It should be slot and slot. not arrow and slot. Also slot and slot on the cams.....You did get the correct cam gears on the correct cams right ? Just my 2 cents.
  16. Check e-bay first I use these guys all the time and have never had a probelm and or come back. Ditch the paper pump gasket and get the OEM metal one for like six bucks. Also get the little oil pump o-ring and re-seal the oil pump while your in there. The belt may be a bit tight and you will question its correct size but just leave it out in the sun while you tearing everything down. It will get good and stretchy. 75 buck for maching ...shop around more...I can get them done for 35 bucks off my machinist and he is still making some money off me. OH and IMO and experiance NAPA anything has failed me several times, enough to where I have not gone there in like 15 years. I have seen there t-belts fail in like 3 months on some of my "customers" rigs, same with seals as well. Fel Pro is good stuff though so that is not the issue. Again just my personal experiance with them, plus they are jerks at the main one here. Your mileag may vary (YMMV)
  17. Trust me, what he is building will never see pavement. Except to maybe off load it from the trailer.
  18. Welcome to the board. The search icon will be your friend. Those questions you have are discussed at-nausium so there is a ton of info here on it.
  19. PM Sent about Weber

  20. Mike (I forgot your forum name) I have lost your e-mail and since I have forgotten your forum name I can't PM you either. I wanted to catch up with you and forward the information you requested for your up and coming backpacking trip. PM when you get this, so we can exchange information. Thanks Mugs (Doug...charcoal grey 86 BRAT)
  21. Just keep it the way it is. The minute you start messing with stuff, it will start screwing up, and before you know its a turd wagon instaed of a nice reliable ride.
  22. Ya, our officer asked us if we were part of a show or something. Maybe traveling in groups played out to our advantage.
  23. Ok now for my TR. I could go on and on and give every little detail but I don't think that would be appreciated. After 5 years of the BRAT not being driven it got a quick total fluid change and a tune up. A can of sea foam in the tank, and half a can in the crank case. Then it was hold the pedal to the floor and a top speed of 65 all the way to Ritzville. Spitting and sputtering the whole way. (Must be cleaning a ton of crap out) then it half way decent (had a few hicki-ups) the rest of the way top E-Burg. Made it the meet and greet. Then Twitch, myself and "mike" (I forget his forum name...tan BRAT) went up the canyon and camped out. Fnx and his friends came by later that night and we all sat around the fire and talk to about midnight. They left and we stayed up another hour and half or so. Sunday saw its fare share of problems but alas the cruise was on. The burgers were great, and the people were awesome. Met a lot new friends and got a lot of great ideas to pull form on my BRAT build. Yah, it’s officially of the market...what was I thinking Then we invaded bratsurus1 house for a bit. Then headed back with those heading west over the mountains saying good by as they exited the other way on the interstate. The show and shine back at E-Burg was met with some on site repairs as well. To include my vehicle and the suggestion that maybe the PCV was sticking (thanks MR. Brat and mtnman38 for the diag and help) Twitch had a spare so I installed it. And prayed for the best. After breaking camp Twitch, PKSJeep, and myself caravanned back to Spokane. The carb had a wee bit of issue coming out of E-burg but then it was on like donkey cong and I could not keep her down. Which is why we had a brush of the law but he was gracious and let us go. He said he saw me come over the hill at 78 but then I slowed down to 73 and held it steady from there on out so that is why he was letting us off the hook. I got home about 1130 and the rest is history. A special thanks to FNX747 for putting this on. Hope your BRAT is up and running soon. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and y son is still elated about the whole trip... I think you guys made his summer Now for some pics. I'll try and post those that have not been posted yet. our camp site room with a view miners burger parking lot Invasion of Jerry's house...his wife was gracious to let us stay for a bit. the line up for the cruise back.
