I just replaced my PCV valve with a Purolator unit from Advance Auto Parts. It was $3! I did this just prior to selling the vehicle. I've owned it for a bit over a year, hunting down hesitation issues since I have owned it and this cleared up the last bit of hesitation. It was acting like a vacuum leak at lower RPMs and spraying my oil compartment with oil at higher RPMs from massive blow-by. Too bad I am getting rid of the soob after more than a year and JUST NOW clearing up the driving issues, just prior to selling. It is an EA82 motor. I had no idea the EA82 could drive so nice. It's still slow, but it drives fantastic. Do your self a favor and replace it for only $3, especially if you have any doubt in your current PCV valve's effectiveness.

My loyale was grinding awhile ago too. Then it got really horrible sounding and abruptly stopped.....taking with it power steering, air conditioning, charging, and cooling! My main pulley worked off (the bolt worked out). Check that out! It would suck if it strands you. That bolt is a 21mm I believe so you may not have the tools to fix it on the road.

inside or outside the car? I would like to look at my car also. Just for GQ. -
What exactly do you think would cause the A/C belt to turn inside out when running? I have an inboard A/C compressor. My wife came in the other day saying her A/C doesn't work and it squeeks when she turns it on. So I go out there and tell her to start the car, and turn on the A/C, I was so focused on the clutch, to make sure the compressor is spinning. I didn't notice the belt at first. I see the clutch sorta engage the compressor, the squeeking begins, and the compressor slows down to a stop. I then notice the A/C belt is literally inside out. The belt teeth are on the outside and the belt backing/band is on the pulleys. So yesterday I take the belts off and put them back on. Tight as I can. Then today. The belt twists around inside out again. WTF?!?

I am also wanting to take them off. What could I fill the holes with though? Its my wifes car. So it has to have something (she wont drive around with holes along her car) For the sake of detailing it I would like to take them off and stop the rust underneath them.

On my 92 hot wire maf, I have 3 wires. A black one (GND), a signal wire, and a Red (+12V I believe) Is the red +12V supposed to be the same voltage as my TPS, or any of my other sensors and/or battery. I checked out my MAF voltage and got like +10V, checked out the TPS and got +12V. If they are supposed to be the same then my MAF isnt getting the correct voltage, anyone know where the MAF red wire connects to as far as its power source?

What wattage rating resistor did you use? Maybe it burned out and sees it as a open circuit, hence the light. -

Has anyone cut open a y-pipe cat? Do the pipes merge together inside the cat and then go through a catalyst? Or is it both pipes open up into a separate chamber to the catalyst? -

Not to hijack but I have a question about similar work. I too know how much space you gain upfront by removing the rad. I did it a month ago on the wifeys car. But can you also remove the a/c condenser in front of it to make even more room w/o any special a/c controls to worry about? I dont know enough about a/c. -
Spark plug recommendations
GJTaranto replied to SmashedGlass's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Funny, I just pulled a set of Autolites out of my car too because it was running really rough after some seafoam. I pulled the wires one by one with the motor running, and #1 plug made no difference, so I decided it was new plug time and went with Bosch super-wamadine copper's. When I pulled all the plugs out and saw the Autolites I was like, "WTF? Who buys Autolites?" Now all my plugs fire. Hooray! The gap on all the plugs were ~.060". Except for #1 which was at .065". All my new plugs were gapped to .044"-0.45". New plugs work just great, I have tried platinums on my previous cars I have owned and have always had problems with them. I think I am going to install a new 02 sensor since all my old plugs were white. Designating lean? -

Body cladding on 92 Loyale
GJTaranto replied to GJTaranto's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Bump, would appreciate any input from anyone who has removed and installed body trim from this year. I want to clean my car! -
What holds the body cladding on around the windows on the upper part of the car? Bottom part of the car? Can it be removed without damaging the cladding or the car and be reinstalled regularly? I washed my loyale for the first time since I got it last Sunday night and I could not get it clean, everytime I sprayed with the high pressure nozzle near this cladding, a bunch of dirt and debris that was stuck under it would blast up and cover a part of the car I just cleaned. I am hoping I can remove it, clean the car, then reinstall it.

Are there any photos of your grilless warrior I can see?

Does anyone know of any other cars that can inter change (with little modification) struts for the front or the rear. My loyale needs new shocks all around. (Rears the most) I want to know all my options. Ive done a ton of searching and reading. Apparently rear honda accord springs work in the rear. Ford tracer springs in the front. I have NO idea the years though. Anyone chime in about spring options for us ea82 guys. For struts we are limited to KYB GR2s or monroes. is this everything? Will impreza/legacy stuff swap over with little modification? Im not afraid of cutting or drilling. I read a thread about a subaru suspension chart but cannot find it, can anyone help me see it? I think the link is dead. Can everyone with experience or some knowledge chime in with what the options are? Try to have one thread with all our knowledge?

Ha, funny you said that, because I had a #35 CEL code, I removed my charcoal canister/purge solenoid valve/associated vacuum lines and capped off the openings and I think it has gotten better. Not to mention I threw a bottle of Chevron Techron (concentrate) in my gas tank and I think it also improved my situation.
