  1. Don't see very many old Subaru's where I currently live in Florida, unlike where I moved from in Colorado I don't see very many new Subaru's, for that matter..... Anyone from on here live nearby to me (Ocala/Summerfield, 34491)????
  2. Forgive me for a stupid question, but how do the adapters mount to the OE hub? Are the original studs replaced with bolts from the back side of the OE hub?
  3. Yes, that is how you do the struts. But, if you still have a bent control arm in there, you need to fix that and work through anything else that got banged up, first.
  4. It's possible one could've actually broken, I suppose, and it would be obvious when you look at it. And yes, springs can weaken over time; that sides spring would have all of the coils closer together than the other side (check when parked on level ground).
  5. I'd be interested in the long run. It would be a little while before I have the money for them though (other things on car taking priority....like, working a/c would be nice down here).
  6. Dammit. Guess I'm still stuck with Winter iPikes
  7. The electrical gremlins sound like three unrelated gremlins. Tackle each one individually. For the fuel gauge, start back at the wiring for the sender above the tank and check the wiring for looseness/fraying; work forward from there. An unintended ground will cause the gauge to peg out. Turn signals sound like the relay is getting old. The temp gauge problem, start with making sure it's not telling the truth and you're actually running too hot! If not, sounds like you may need a new temp sender.
  8. If you're driving a Loyale ('90+), none of your struts should be adjustable unless they've been swapped with mid-80's units. On the fronts, look for two bolts under the lower spring perch; these are turned to raise or lower the perch. I don't think that's your problem though. Blown shocks don't make for sag, blown springs do. Also, look for any damage underneath the front end, say, near the radius rod mount on that side The adjustables look like so: http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z146/1992Roo/Safariwagon-III/2012_0407AA.jpg.
  9. That's an old Sube.... I always let mine warm up for a few minutes, especially in colder weather where I've let it go until it idles down on it's own before moving it. Run beautifully, if you just let them 'wake up' at their own speed.
  10. I don't see why you can't bleed it with all four on the ground; it's how I usually do it. And it wouldn't hurt to bleed all four wheels, in the proper order.
  11. Holy late to the ballgame...........What tires are those, what specs, and where'd you get them??
  12. Waiting to see what happens also Not too keen on the $250+ price tag to convert after I repair my system.
  13. Found this while tooling around YouTube, don't know if anyone has posted it in the past. Genuine 80's music, and beware Speedo-clad guys at about the 11min mark
  14. Purchase a small electric power washer, JJ. You won't regret it, and has many 'other' uses. The primary use at our house in FL is to clean the concrete twice a year--in this humidity and heat it quickly gets a growth of dark mold all over it. Side bonus is cleaning cars and car parts Can Tombba get the Euro front corner lights?? I'd love to have those.
  15. Cleaned cleaned cleaned....and then cleaned, the engine and bay. Was in miserable shape from the P.O.: dirt, mud, grease....dirty muddy grease...weird 'rusty' stains everywhere that had to be scrubbed off as pressure washer wouldn't remove them. First chance I've had to really go at it other than throwing away money at a car wash using their "engine wash" setting (=garbage). The joys of finally having my own property where I can do what I want, and my own pressure washer present from Xmas. Much wielding of said p. washer, and a fair amount of scrub-a-dub with a pail of heavy dish soaped water and scrubby pads. Some of whats still on the engine is NOT going to come off until I have the motor out and can attack it with a wire wheel, but she looks 1000% better than when I bought it two years ago. Electric fan and clutch fan shroud were removed to facilitate cleaning huge globs of dirt rammed under the radiator by P.O. off-roading. Still have to drive her up on ramps and get the very bottom, and then I'll probably get on with an in-car reseal.
  16. Neat. My new cat/Y-pipe came with a heat shield, but I'm thinking of either wrapping it with some heat tape, or securing a section of mil-grade heat shielding from a Detroit Diesel motor's exhaust in a way similar to what you did.
  17. I'd go with what JJ421 did, or even use Plasti-dip from a spray can (also available at Home Depot/Lowes). Never had satisfactory results with anything that claims to "restore" plastics.
  18. The EA82T was never intended as a full performance engine; Subaru developed it mainly to address mid-range torque, which is where you mostly feel the kick from the teeny little snail they included on it. At that, it performs quite well; as a platform for racing or big power, forget it. You'll dump more money getting there for almost but less power than a swap, and it will still eventually explode.
  19. Yes, thank you very much for sharing this video, great stuff. The frame at 1:51min would make an excellent wallpaper for my computer!
  20. Probably is the clutch going out. Run it til it blows! But save $$ for a replacement.
  21. OMG, that wedge is in excellent shape! Please, keep it that way.
  22. I'll jump the bandwagon and say I'd be in for a set of those adapters too. Keep us up to date on it please!
  23. Not entirely sure this isn't a photochop, but wholly bat************ does it look badass! The world's first 'stanced' GL wagon???
