mounted push bar this morn on my 85 brat. suggest you: 1. jack up rig and place stands; 2. jack up and support motor cross member; 3. release cross member bolts; 4. bolt up rear most slot on either side (do not tighten) 5. use second jack to raise front portion of bar (i had to trim bumperettes and really push to get past bumper); 6. bolt up foward slots on either side (do not tighten) 7. bots up foward attachment bars ( it should now be obvious where they fit) (do not tighten) 8. now tighten slot bolts 9. now tighten forward attachment bars hope this helps ps. on a later madel brat i also had to remove lower chrome bar which connects the two bumperettes.

gentelmen-thanks so much for responses, all are helpful and this gives me the confidence to proceed with the swap. ps. my brat instrument cluster is cracked, faded and i have confirmed the speedo does not work. the hatchback cluster i am using comes from a carbed, 4-speed rig like mine. again the only appearence difference was different guage needles. pss. this club and message board is great and makes it possible for newbies like me to come and play those raindeer games.

come on folks, i did the search and now i need some help.

speedo out in 85 brat. local shop wants $180 to pull dash and fix speedo. found 86 hatchback and pulled entire instrument cluster ($13 at u pull it)since it looks identical to brat. While the guage needles are slightly different can i simply swap in the newer hatchback cluster and "plug and play" as they say? any help appreciated.

MSD Blaster 2 install ?
lonnie replied to SmashedGlass's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
am very new to sooby's but certainly not to msd which i have used on several rigs to significant advantage. have not seen or read much that declares the exception benefits that were gained using msd. at the end of the day, are we areally talking about a marginal performance gain and not something that in and of itself is significant, espeically on a non-points car. -
dan-thanks so much for your help. the adj. struts/springs work great and i did not realize how bad the ride had gotten. appreciate it very much.

recent purchase with 92K mi., excellent shape... almost. air suspension leaks which after searching forum is not uncommon. want to convert and again used serach, to find fit for my application but no luck. questions: 1. what years will work to make swap out 2. exactly what parts do i need to make switch ps. in the end is it cost effective to just buy conversion kit. help very much appreciated, thank you.
