  1. On aluminum block/head engines it's pretty darn bad to overheat. Warpage is the culprit. If ya are losing water, and the rad isn't leaking, I'd check those pesky head gaskets, or possibly a hose has gone to poo. Could be a number of things. Running out of oil can do equal amounts of damage, but in different ways. Spun bearkings etc. Both are really a no no, and should be avoided at all costs. Watch that temp gauge! If it's not working, fix it.
  2. Moved from Ohio to Colorado many moons ago. Can't say I miss the heat, and humidity! And the snow is a plus. I live at 10K feet, and we get 9 months of winter up here. Also love seeing the soobies outnumber the Ferds!
  3. Yeah no leaks. But nice info for future problems!
  4. Okay I must admit ya lost me, what's a Cadillac Tab?
  5. Get a OEM radiator cap? What's the actual temp on the gauge when ya see the steam?
  6. Yeah I don't really take this car out of town. I just don't like driving the WRX, or the RS in the snow, so I keep her on the road. Plus ya just can't beat the low range locking diff! Yeah I will try the prestone product, as I've heard mention of it a few times before. The rad isn't in too bad of shape, just clogged no doubt. Just trying to keep the ol boat anchor running cool till I can do a EJ swap some day. Thanks for the fast response fellas! Any more ideas, keep them coming.
  7. Did a bit of searching, and didn't find what I was looking for. The rad in my 87 RX is the original, and has seen better days. I am sure it's clogged pretty well. I don't really wanna throw a new one at her just yet, so I was thinking I could clean this one up, and try and make it last the winter. What have ya guys done to get the sludge out? Is there some OTC products that do a flush that works well? Can ya fill it with some vinegar, and water and let it sit, then flush? Some kinda home cocktail that's proven effective? Thanks in advance for your time.
  8. How about a 87 RX? You can drive my WRX as well. It helps that I am easy on the eyes as well. I say slam that baby, unless ya get a ton of snow. We get multi foot snows up here. One reason my cars are still stock height.
  9. Heya, need more info on the AWDpirates, let me know. I live up in Cripple Creek, but I hang out with the springs crowd quite a bit. Again welcome to the forums!

  10. Welcome! As Shawn mentioned, there is the Red Rocks meet, but if ya look closer on the AWDpirates forums, there is a local Colorado Springs thread in the community. We meet at least once a month or so, or they do cruises for pizza up here in Cripple Creek. Have fun on the forums!
  11. Might be a little overkill for a lego, but I found the Red Line Gear Oil works FLAWLESSLY in my WRX. Bit pricey (about $50 for amount needed) but well worth it for it's performance.
  12. A buddy of mine here in CO has svnstrs. I believe that's how he spelled it. It's the seven sisters (constellation) Subaru emblem.
  13. I run Red Line synth in my tranny, and Royal Purple in the rear diff on my WRX. LOVE IT! As for the engine, I still run dino. I tried Mobil 1 synth a while back, but noticed she burned it more than dino. I will probably try the Royal Purple synth engine oil sooner than later. The RX runs dino as well, but at 154K I am starting to notice a tick on startups. I will try seafoaming her again soon, then run synth to see how well that works.
  14. Not sure if this is related, but when it's super cold here in the mountains, my throttle cable sticks a bit. But when the cars warms up a bit, it's fine.
  15. I do the same in the RX. My dog loves to sneak a slurp!
  16. Pretty neat little build guys! I wonder if I (6'5") would even fit in it....
