Holy Grail for Coupe owners.
The Dude Abides replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ive got a safe connie if you want it. I dont think an old bank safe would be to much overkill. -
Why not do both. Im sure you can find a legacy to suite your needs for a couple grand. Then save the rest for your loyale. Could pickup a motor for a couple hundred bucks then put it in. But then dont stop there you can lower it, or raise it. Gut it or put in legacy seats. The possibilitys are endless. I always say that vehicles dont always die. Somethimes they just become something else. Ben

91 Loyale AT
The Dude Abides replied to WhoopdidooSubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Welcome to the board, here we go. Welcome to the Obcession. The 3 AT isnt a great tranny and they have a tendency of going out. Private Message silverhelme he has some tricks to maybe get yours moveing. Something about band adjustment. I just picked up a 93 loyale with a blown tranny as well, but i do have 1st gear. People say these arent worth saveing and if your going to keep the car for a while you should swap it to 5 speed. You will notice a difference with the response of the engine with a stick. Here are some pictures of my wagons. The green one is the one i just got and my white one is my daily driver. I paid 400 for the white one and the aqua one was free. How much did you pay for yours and good luck. This is a great place to get info, find parts, and make friends. Welcome Ben And no the aqua one isnt a better one, be nice to guido -

can you estimate how much you lowered with just the top hats and how did you half to modify them. Ben -
Now that i think about it at my last job we sold only quincy air compressors for air dryer systems. My boss said thats the only brand he would sell. We got em from some local outfit in desmoines. Ben

Normally they dont reach that far like i said i think someone turned it that far back and broke it because i couldnt get it to snap back into its original place. i still dont have the title yet thats going to be a process. It has the auto and for what i would use it for i wouldnt mind just swaping in a good auto and not deal with it but i think mostly im useing it as parts for guido. Like i said earler it has some bad piston slap and the TOD and because i want to save this young engine im going to try to fix that as well if i decide to pull the engine. Ben -
that quincy ended up getting sold. when it comes down to it ill probally just try to find something used for now. i can get a sears one fairly chep with a 36 gallon tank but ive got some more checking to do. Ben

Probally some vandals turned it the other way. They will do that so you dont break them. I have those on my 88 as well. When i picked it up it was wedged between some cars pretty good. Ben -
Ive got something growning and its not a rash. I must of caught some bug because my subaru collection got upped buy 1 Heres where i found her, filled with old food and other things. Dirty and hasnt run in 2 years. This one is after i got it home. 5 miles in 1st gear. The rest are gone but im going to check into maybe lack of fluid. Man the engine clatters, i know what people talk about with tick o death. Maybe some piston slap, sticky lifters who knows but it made her. Tucked away in backyard suburbia just waiting for me to do something with it, the question is what. Did I Mention Free
-
well like i said ive got the tires free and the car was free i thought i had free wheels but that fell through. So i probally wont run 31s now. Yea its ok though would of been alot of work. Think ill just part it out and scrap the rest. Ben

Possible XT parts for Cheep
The Dude Abides replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
this car is really good. No rust, great doors, trunk, hood, motor. But one problem this guy seem alittle off. I dont think hes to interested in doing things quickly so i cant check on some other pieces people were asking about. It is a 2wd xt Ben -
i know this isnt as impressive but what would something like this do for what i want. Now dont me Ben http://desmoines.craigslist.org/tls/736932167.html
-
Gd that was a font of knowledge. Thank you for typeing it up for my cheep butt lol. No something big for latter but right now something to run an impact wrench, air hose (duh), and some painting. Now i dont mind waiting around for the air to catch up but im looking around 35 gallon. Ohhh i just saw this one GD. What do ya think. http://desmoines.craigslist.org/tls/774370808.html

I was wondering if anyone could recoment a good brand, size air compressor to get. Not over 500 bucks. Something to run air tools obviously. But something to do some minor painting as well. Im not trying to break the budget on this one. I dont mind it coming on alot but i dont want it running constantly. Ben

im not worried about the body since in thinking of cutting to roof off anyways i was just worried about stress on the engine, tranny, cv shafts. This is free stuff meaning i dont have money to throw at it when it breaks. I was going to trim about where the fender lips come out. Yea that whole thing is gone. Door and everything. Ben
-
the only reason i ask is because i might be able to get this cars, the wheels and the tires for free so ive got nothing into it. I know i wont beable to convince the mrs for a lift so if i had to just whatever was cheeper. Ben
-
i like the way you think. You need to change the marker lights on the fender there differant. not only the lights but you need the mountings behind them those bolt right up. The only problem would be wireing and im not sure how you would do that ben
